This is the Tzacualli card, which is equivalent to The Tower in the standard Tarot. Here, a great temple-pyramid is struck by lightning, and bursts into flame. The steps of the temple are lined on one side with carvings of fire, and the other with carvings of water, to signify the dual principles of Tonantzin and Totatzin, female and male, which together compose and create the cosmos. At its top is a temple, whose roof is lined with eyes, knives, and hands, to symbolise death, but whose lintel is decorated with jade-stones, for it is precious. Within is a precious throne, upon which rests a turquoise diadem, which is the crown of a Tlatoani, or king. The black hand of Tlaloc emerges from the sky and, bearing a bolt of lightning in the form of a double headed serpent, strikes the temple, which bursts into flame. A man and a woman are thrown from its summit, headfirst, to the ground below.
The lightning represents the power of revelation or insight, which lays low our preconceived notions. The temple is destroyed by the Teteo; it bursts into flames, and those who worship before its false premise are thrown down. When the Tzacualli card appears in a reading, it signifies that great change is imminent, that preconceptions will be challenged, that power and order will come undone. However, that which Tlaloc reveals with his bolt of lightning, with his mystical insight, is a new truth, a higher order and power, upon which to build a new structure with a firmer foundation. Seven flames emerge from the temple; these are the four directions, plus heaven, the underworld, and Tlalxicco, the navel at the center of creation. Towards the seven flames the symbols of male and female which line the steps, fire and water, the Duality, approach. Tlaloc destroys, but in the very act of destruction reveals new spiritual truths, and a new path forward built on Nelli, on Truth.

A woman in a white enagua and huipil conquers a jaguar. Her hair is fixed in two buns, which symbolise Xochiquetzal, the Teotl of Love, while two strips of deer hide fly from her hair, which are part of the regalia of Tonatiuh, Our Lord the Sun. She is thus a personification of strength which flows from both the feminine and masculine energies which together engender the cosmos; feminine, the force of love and the womanly power of Xochiquetzal, and masculine, the strength of Tonatiuh the Sun and light of his revelation and wisdom. She mounts the back of a man dressed as a jaguar. He is painted dark blue, which symbolises darkness, the North, and the region of the dead. He represents chaos and disorder, while his jaguar regalia symbolises bravery, but also the night, the glistening stars, and the wildness and terror of the darkness. She fearlessly mounts his back and pries open his jaws, while the sun shines behind her. However, the Night Jaguar can also be understand as her own feral and animal nature, which she overcomes. She is day which conquers night, wisdom which conquers ignorance, and love which conquers hate.
