I haven’t checked the messages here in a long time!
Each year since Maria del Camino's inception in 2009, substantial modifications have been made to this robotic vehicle. From perforating the body of this 1959 El Camino with 10's of thousands of holes, to the hydraulics enabling gymnastics– the latest mod is the conversion from diesel to electric.

I will be giving a presentation at the North Bay Chapter of the Electric Auto Association, being held at Thunderstruck Motors which is located at 2985 Dutton Ave., Suite 3, in Santa Rosa. Saturday, March 9, 10-12. This will be a prelude to Maria being exhibited at the Maker Faire, May 17-19. There, she will be performing and I will give another presentation as well.
Out with friends on the longest run with the new electrics. From camp on Rod’s Road to Illumination Village to check on the status of Sam’s tracked robotic vehicle.

The remote control and lighting are being connected to prepare for Decompression on Saturday Oct. 20, 2PM-2AM. It is being called Black Top City. I like that. Hopefully there will be enough space to pull off a side show!
It is at the Potrero Power Plant, and that is the reason this will be Maria’s first Decom.
The original T-3 incandescent headlights are being swapped out to LEDs for more energy efficiency and more range per charge. We’ll find out on Saturday how long we can go.Â

Hi! My name is Rob and my wife and I are burners. A few years ago we built a tracked vehicle called "The Krawler". It's been a lot of learning and fun. We've seen Maria a few times out on playa and at Nimby (I work down the street on 98th ave) and are super excited seeing your progress this year. Just back from a test run. Side show in the culdesac. Shook lose hood trim, but other than that– all systems are working!
Today fitted the battery case cover and Chis repaired the rear signal lights.
Working towards Burning Man departure.
Most all the major components now have a home. The all aluminum sub-assembly hinges up if needed for access to the batteries. Starting the wiring now. Working towards a test spin on the motor!

The battery management system is now complete!
I tested it and it works!
Ellen stopped by the other day and gifted her LIMINAL license plate to Maria.
Once she is not standing on her tail, I will attach to the rear properly.
Most all the batteries are in place, except for three that were damaged and are being replaced. Now for the bus bars and battery management wiring. I really like the red and black safety caps. They are practical, but also are graphic manifestations of the assembly: 15 groups of 3. While they need to go, I am thinking the screws that secure the bus bars should be painted accordingly, to help keep things clear and from accidental shorting, but also it is a good look!
