The Grymkin are coming to Hordes this July! We’ve been working hard on the latest faction to take to the battlefields of Western Immoren, and I’m pretty psyched for these guys. Enough so that I whipped up a quick little illustration of one of the many creepy critters on the way. I’m hoping to draw at least a couple more in the months leading up to Lock & Load if I can find the time.

Look for him at this year’s Lock & Load! I’ll be playing in the Staff Scrambles on Sunday. Hopefully I can paint up some more stuff in time to accompany him. @_@

Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich. I kept his coat grey to match the rest of my army but figured his clothes and armor underneath could have plenty of red to denote his status. Lots of gold on this guy, too.

The Winter Guard Infantry Officer & Standard Bearer. That flag is great for practicing two-brush blending!

The humble Winter Guard Infantry are the backbone of nearly every Khadoran army I field. Though individually unimpressive, the Blunderbuss each carries packs quite a punch, especially when they combine their ranged attacks.

My goal is to collect a bunch more of these and give them all female Khadoran names.

The Juggernaut isn’t the flashiest of warjacks, but it’s still a solid choice for its point cost. I normally make the wrist armor black (as it is on his left hand) but I tried to enhance this especially angry pose with a red right hand.

Regardless of my warcaster, I try and always keep a War Dog by my side. The defensive bonuses are fantastic and he makes for a great mascot. He’s gotten quite a few Counter Charge kills, to boot!

Kommandant Irusk is one of my favorite warcasters. He has some of my favorite spells, and his feat can be devastating. He also just looks so stoic and cool.

I’ve been painting my Khadorans in this color scheme for a while now. If you’re wondering, I start with Greatcoat Grey, then use two brush blending to layer on Underbelly Blue followed by a Frostbite highlight. The result is a very cold grey, and so I’ve decided that my army is now thematically linked to Lord Kozlov, drawn mainly from the Ruscar of his homeland. Though they may venture far south to do battle, their arrival is always heralded by a winter storm conjured by arcanists of the Greylord Covenant.

Eradicators and Obstructors.

The Assimilator is magnetized to field as a Conservator as well, but I usually prefer the Ground Pounder shenanigans.

First up are Forge Master Syntherion, Iron Mother Directrix, Aurora, the Numen of Aerogenesis, and some Clockwork Angels.

These aren’t what I’d consider “finished” in terms of painting—there’s still more shading and highlighting to be done. Later on I also hope to share some very special Khadorans as well.

I haven’t been doing much art lately, on account of I got an awesome job instead! But since now I can relax a bit, I’ve been spending my breaks at work trying to (finally) learn proper human anatomy. For now I’ve been copying stuff out of Stephen Rogers Peck’s Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist. Hoping to keep my practice consistent and improve steadily, if slowly.
