               “ it’s an everyday argument with myself and it begins the minute a few minutes pass while running my ass off for people who don’t appreciate it, ” the woman muttered before pulling the bottle of beer up to her lips, talking to no one directly but whoever was willing to take up the conversation. “ pays the bills but makes my hair fall out. can’t win, can you? ”

“Sounds like you need to get out whilst you can.” Marco replied, not thinking of his words before they left his mouth. It might not have been the answer the girl was looking for, but it was the one he had. “You have a pretty head of hair, it’d be a shame for it to be used in some old guy’s toupee. Unless you think you can pull off the bald look, then all the power to you.”

         One minute Leighann was practically flying along down the sidewalk, easily weaving through people as needed, and the next something at the front of a shop window had caught her attention from the corner of her eye. Unintentionally she’d stepped too far back upon the skateboard, and she’d skidded it out from beneath her. Clumsily Leigh grasped for the edges of a big metal newspaper dispenser to keep herself from fully falling onto her ass. Blue eyes skirting forward towards where it had propelled down the sidewalk, “shit.” Stepping forward unsteadily she yelled out down the pedestrian walkway, “Hey! Can you grab that? Before it knocks someone over, or goes into the road and gets smoked by a car.” 

Carrying his own skateboard under his arm as he exited the coffee shop, an iced coffee in his free hand, his head instantly turned to woman yellowing. It didn’t take Marco long to realise what was happening, the skateboard rolling past him. Acting on instinct, he jumped onto the board to bring it to a stop, narrowly avoiding a man on the phone paying no attention to the chaos around him. Using the blonde’s skateboard to move back along to sidewalk to her side, Marco put his foot on the end to tilt it towards up her. “Easy there, Leigh. I thought you were better at this than me. See something you fancy?”

Cassie slurped up some juice and burst into laughter as Marco stole her attention from the man. She wiped her hand on her skirt and shook her head. “No way am I gonna fuck him, he’s disgusting. I have some standards.” She rolled her eyes, glancing back at the man who hopefully didn’t hear. “I like older guys though, like sixty tops, they know what they’re doing. Plus. he’s practically nursing a semi right now. That’s power.”

“If sixty tops is your standards, I’d still say you haven’t got any. At least tell me they have to have some kind of hair on their head, and not the fake kind.” Marco joked with a smile, his eyes lighting up with playfulness. "Trust me, a semi is probably all he can manage without fear of a heart attack. It’s not power, it’s a safety precaution. If you carry on with that popsicle, the death certificate will read ‘cause of death, Cassie Morgan’.”

“Its all good, I’m a pro at losing track of time, so don’t sweat it.” She said as she walked around the place, case of bottles in hand as she made her way behind the bar. “Take a seat, maybe you could keep me entertained for the next twenty-five minutes. A drink for every good story you can tell me.” She smiled, tucking her hair behind her ears. “I’m Juliet, by the way.”

“I’d hate to clear you out of stock before your real customers arrive, so I’ll just stick to the PG ones.” Marco said with a grin, happily following her over to the bar and taking a seat. “But if you need a hand, just ask. I will probably make your job much harder, but the offer that counts, right?” He sat thinking for a minute, before looking back at the brunette. “Pleasure to meet you, Juliet, Marco. What kinda story you thinking?”

              wrinkling her nose slightly, a simple middle finger was flashed to the male across from her before she leaned back in her chair. “ whatever — i call this blackmail at it’s finest. you’re stating you’ll use it for good, like when i challenge you to shot for shot, but we both know that you’re going to use this to make me your little servant for weeks. all im saying, is you an’t have you phone every second of the day so watch it, marco. ”

Marco blew a kiss over to Rory as she flipped him off, a laugh passing his lips. “You call it blackmail, I call it insurance. As much as I would appreciate someone to do my laundry for a month, I can live without. What I can’t live with, however, is it an equally embarrassing video of me comes to light.” He raised a brow, knowing one existed and many more were likely to be filmed. “But you’ll be happy to know I changed my passcode. And before you think of smashing my phone, it’s backed up. Be warned, Lancaster.”

“C’mon, I didn’t get you a drink just for you to tell me a nursery rhyme,” He replied, mock-disappointment in his voice. “Much as I think Miss Bo Peep should let that damn sheep be free, I’d rather hear about how you broke your ankle.” 

"I think you’ll find I paid for the drink, the story just comes for free.” Marco said with the raise of his brows, a serious expression on his face before he broke into smile. “But since this is my favourite bar and I would like to continue being served, I’ll break out my best story just for you. Me and a couple of friends had found some abandoned warehouse stairs, y’know the ones on the wheels? Well we were pushing them up and down this lot with one of us stood on top, pretending to be king of the world, and when it was my turn, the bastards pushed the stairs into a pothole and it came crashing down. I jumped off as it came crashing down but snapped my ankle in the process. Hurt like hell but was worth the sympathy from the girls in my class.”

“well, i don’t really know, cause i was raised baptist, we didn’t do communion,” she explains, brows furrowing slightly before expression lights up. “aw, you’re so right, though! my momma used t’carry mints in her purse just for church, but no candy cause we’d all pile into th’truck and go get breakfast at a diner after and my siblings ‘n i would always put so much syrup onto our pancakes that momma  said we didnt need any more sugar.” rosie can’t help but laugh, duck her head in acknowledgement. “well, i’d sure hope so. i don’t mind the loaves so much but i’d rather stay away from the fishes that early in the mornin.”

“Huh, I just assumed everyone did it. It’s what we did in our church, at least.” Marco replied with a shrug of his shoulders. The wine was often his favourite part of going when he was younger. Now he only went when his mother dragged him along. “The wrappers were all I could hear, but that was probably because I used to go out of my way to befriend the golden oldies. They had all the best candy and stories.” He shot a smile in the others direction. “I think everyone would rather stay away from raw fish no matter the time of day. Unless it’s sushi. I’ll make an acceptance for sushi.”
