the games perfectly translate and use the effects of capitalism to reach it’s goals. capitalism is a rotten cycle for those who are not the wealthy and especially those who are in debt. they are left in a system that makes sure that they cannot leave that debt behind while they endlessly provide labour for the wealthy. they work and work under undesirable and abusive conditions but have no choice but to do it anyways due to the consequences if they were to stop working. this is exactly what happens to the players and it is also what becomes their driving force to be in the games. the ‘outside world’ is brutal and opportunity to rise above their debt is impossible so the games become a much better option. they are put into a series of games with their actual lives on the line, being fed barely, treated like betting horses but there is a possibility for victory. here at least, there might be a prize for the torture. here at least, we have chosen to be here (or so they think) but then again, this is just the players in a system where they are stuck ‘working’ for the wealthy’s benefit in expense of their lives.
