imagine your f/o offering to wash you up after you've fallen into a depressive spiral. You've neglected to take care of yourself. You've isolated again. Your f/o isn't mad or disappointed that you've failed to look after yourself. They're just very worried that your mental health has taken a dive to the point you can't stand up on your own sometimes. It's increasingly concerning how much hurt you've directed to yourself and to others to keep away because you think you deserve to suffer alone. But your f/o isn't easily convinced to leave you be.

they prepare a bath and go in with you. they gently lather your body with soap, carefully clean your face, taking it slow to not hurt or shock you. they scrub shampoo and conditioner on your hair. it's a quiet moment for the both of you. nothing to hear but the water running and splashes every so often. you close your eyes trying to keep calm and just let yourself breathe in this moment. you've been pushing them away too. neglecting them.

but your f/o isn't bothered by the gap. they're just scared that it'll extend with time and they might not be able to see you again. to see you happy again. you're alive now. that's a first step.
