It’s been two months, but it feels like an eternity.

My phone and computer have been running out of memory lately, so I’ve been doing a purge recently. Uploaded pretty much every photo I have to flickr as a backup, because apparently external hard drives less than $100 aren’t really worth it, and I can’t afford anything more than that right now, so flickr it is.

For the past 3 hours (currently 3:09 AM), I’ve been watching the videos on my laptop, and am so delighted in remembering sweet moments life has given me these past few years. I’m so glad I took these photos and videos.

The ones that affected me most are videos I have of my grandma. Most of the videos I have of her were during her last couple of years, when her illness was slowly taking her away from us. I missed her laugh and smile so much..I’m so glad I got to see it again. I decided that I will only keep the happy ones. I had quite a few videos of some serious and tense moments....I think I pretty much filmed every moment I had with her then, because deep down, I knew she didn’t have much longer.

I also came upon videos of old friends, and though we’ve all gone our separate ways, it was so nice seeing our memories caught on film. For example, I have one of Monica getting her ears pierced for the first time. Another of us all surprising Karen on her 18th birthday, during our freshman year of college. She was studying, and all of a sudden, we creep up behind her and turn off the lights. She turns around, sees us, sees the balloons, the cake, and gifts, and her smile just lit up the room. I have one of me and my roommates in London, visiting Paris together on a random weekend. You can see in us a desire for adventure, and the joy on our faces to be abroad.

I have videos of my cousin calmly explaining things to my grandma, probably for the 5th time in the same hour. He was so loving, patient, and kind to her, and I wish I could just go back in time and give them both a hug. As the oldest cousin, he bore a lot of our family’s burden on his back....and I’m so honored to call him family.
