So I wanted to replay Deltarune in preparation for chapter 5 (and also trying to beat some of the shadow bosses (not RK I just can't) after finally beating Jevil) only to learn that chapter 5 releases on JUNE 24TH 2026

Out of all the Ninjago themes, I've always had a soft spot for the Green Ninja theme. It's just a simple easily recognizable theme, but the reason why I love it so much is because of how many variations it goes through throughout the show.
It starts out as a normal heroic motif almost always going high to signify the mysticism of the Green Ninja. But over the course of the series it becomes more grounded as the Green Ninja and Lloyd himself become more self-actualized. It even goes through more fun and sort of silly variations. The one I can think of at the top of my head is from The Island where Lloyd plays distraction catch with Zippy so he could sneak and rescue the ninja.
My absolute favourite variations (besides the really cool and badass ones, because those are obvious) are when it goes lower. A great example of this is in S8 I think during the True Potential episode where Lloyd locks the other ninja and goes to face Garmadon alone, you can very clearly summarize what he's thinking from just the sound of his theme. It's in low and kind of dragging notes when it suddenly jumps back into action. Another version, which just about made me jump up when I realized it, is towards the end, and during the credits too, of the episode when we see Oni Lloyd for the first time. It's a theme that sounded oddly familiar even if I never heard it before until I realized that it's just the Green Ninja theme turned on its head to sound more sinister and villainous. I LOVE how they didn't make a new theme for "evil" Lloyd but instead rearranged his theme to sound a bit more like it, but it is still the same motif.
You can practically hear the theme adapt to its corresponding character in a way that few themes have and I just think that's really cool.
Hot take: Misako is getting roasted for the exact same thing that Libber did (child abandonment), yet Libber is still an ongoing mystery and people do talk about her while Misako is being treated like the devil.

The ninja swearing headcanons because if they were allowed to, they would.
Zane
Ok maybe not him
Was 100% the "language!" guy at the beginning but loosened up a bit
Only swears when frustrated or annoyed and even then he bleeps himself out
Jay always jumps at the bleep
Jay
Refuses to swear around his parents and forces the other ninja to not do so either
Doesn't swear all that often because "swearing is a sign of weak verbal skills"
He has some of the most creative insults tho
The only time you'll hear Jay actually swear is when he locks in on videogames, some missions and when Nya is in danger and that's about it
Nya
Has the best-worst rants when frustrated or angry about something
Her vocabulary is about as extensive as Jay's insult catalog
Other than that she's actually pretty clean
Kai
Somehow manages to insert a cuss word in like every other sentence
Usually does it to annoy others, mostly Zane and Wu
Taught kid Lloyd and Wyldfyre all the words and how to use them properly
Completely stops swearing when serious about something and it always catches everyone off guard
Cole
Vowed to stop swearing several times before breaking it at the nearest inconvenience
Has the most appropriate timing out of everyone on the team and a decent filter
Just overall doesn't swear as often as you might think
Didn't cuss while raising Wu and always gave everyone dirty looks when they did while covering kid Wu's ears
Wu still heard everything
Lloyd
100% used to swear a lot as a kid, mainly to piss of others
Stopped once he joined the team, but slowly got back into it the more tired and annoyed he became
"I'm not sure I can cuss someone out. It's mean." *Garmadon/Harumi gets brought up* "Oh not that son of bitch again."
Also has a decent filter to an extent (you cannot convince me he wasn't on a roll during Crystallized, my man was beyond done at that time.)
Once on a mission he broke down and started cussing in Oni which scared everyone so bad they thought he was possessed again. Suffice to say, he never did that again (Garmadon found it hilarious.)
Bonus
Sora: similar to Cole
Arin: swore exactly once while he was with Ras and only Sora knows about it
Wyldfyre: same as Kai except she has no chill nor filter and Kai has to coach her through it
Frak: hasn't sworn before and is surprisingly good at keeping it that way
Pixal: same as Zane except she doesn't bleep herself out
Wu: always gets annoyed with the ninja when they swear but when the situation calls for it he can be just as bad as them
Garmadon: was told by Vinny that swearing is inappropriate so he switched to swearing in Oni, no one knows if it's better cause no one (other than Lloyd) can understand him
One scene that makes me chuckle every single time is at the beginning of S8 when the royal family ask the ninja to stay at the palace as guests and as additional protection and instead of answering, all the ninja just turn to Lloyd to answer. The immediate synchronicity is what gets me, you can tell that this has happened several times before. Where the team is asked some kind of a question or presented with a new mission and instead of answering for themselves they just give it to Lloyd.
The funny thing is that it doesn't read as incompetence or a lack of independence on the ninja's part but rather as trust in their leader. I'm pretty sure if he had answered no for whatever reason the ninja would have followed regardless if they agree or not, it's sweet.
So I've finally graduated which means that I'll have more time to actually draw instead of feeling like I'm wasting my time drawing when I should be studying.
But then again even if I'm not drawing I still feel unproductive.
Anyways here's a very rough sketch of something I had in mind ever since I read the snippet.
One hc for each of the more underrated duos on the team.
Firm believer of Nya/Cole gym buddies.
Cole once caught Lloyd singing to himself while listening to music and decided to teach him how to sing. Cole may not like singing himself but he doesn't mind passing on what he learned to someone else. And Lloyd likes singing as a casual hobby.
Lloyd and Jay have prolonged discussions and rants about various things (usually nerdy stuff) and when they do they're on the same wavelength. Adding on to each other's point or finishing each other's thoughts seamlessly. After Jay got his memories back this happened again with them talking shit about Ras and it's at that point that Lloyd realised that Jay is finally back.
Jay and Kai play competitive Pokemon together. Kai uses overpowered fire and fighting types while Jay is capable of making an ok pokemon a solid threat and it irritates Kai to no end.
During summer (more specifically a heatwave) Kai tends to have heatstrokes so he practically glues himself to Zane who is just naturally cold. He also purposefully makes himself colder during that time for Kai's sake.
Nya has fixed up Zane so many times that they've developed their own secret language. Jay understands some of it, Pixal a bit more but no one has been able to fully crack the code yet.
Zane was the one who taught Lloyd how to cook. It took a while because Lloyd is a bit clumsy in the kitchen but it was worth it.
Kai would never admit it but he actually enjoys Cole's music taste. He listens to it while blacksmithing and helping Nya with her machines. It helps him focus.
Jay and Zane play mind-stimulating/puzzle games together. Most of them end with Jay trying not to flip the board over because Zane keeps winning.
It's usually Cole explaining to Zane slang and social norms and whatnot. He's very casual and open about it when Zane asks him and when someone looks at Zane condescendingly for not quite understanding these things Cole immediately jumps to his defense.

Every time someone treats Lloyd as a sweet innocent uwu little twaumatized green bean who could no wwong and needs to be protected, an angel loses its wings.
Been wondering about why exactly Lloyd failed the trial. He did win at least morally when he said to his enemy version something along the lines of "I can learn and grow from my failures and mistakes. So I won't give you anymore power." Like that's good, right? So then why?
Then I remembered two things about the first half of the trial. The first being this line from Lloyd himself:
Master of Life is the master of the connection between and through all things.
And what Tween Lloyd said about giving himself a fighting chance for the second half.
Lloyd wasn't able to connect to himself, to show himself grace and compassion like he can towards others and that's why he ultimately failed. Maybe if he followed that line above with something like "But I want to understand you." things could have gone differently. He couldn't do that and I think the temple knew he couldn't, but it still gave him the tools to survive and pass the trial if he wanted to.
This kind of makes this exchange a bit sadder:
🐉: I know you're a manifestation, but I need to know. Are you happy?
🐲: You tell me.
Tween Lloyd in this instance really doesn't have an answer, because his existence entirely depends on what happens next. It sounds teasing but only because he knows that Lloyd doesn't have high chances of surviving, but is still being hopeful in his own bratty way.
I saw someone on TikTok speculate that since Lloyd can now feel all of life that means that he could theoretically sense when Nya's pregnant even before she does. And that is just a whole slightly cursed can of worms that I don't wanna think about.
But I am going to use it as an excuse to tell that Nya giving birth wouldn't be much different from Amy giving birth.

I once saw an AU where Misako took Lloyd with her on her mission to stop the final battle from happening and the more I thought about it, the more I understood Misako's decision to leave Lloyd at Darkley's.
Imagine raising a child ON YOUR OWN (since husband gone and bro-in-law is partly responsible for it), AND THEN bringing a five year old max kid on a dangerous mission that your baby boy is practically a magnet to. Misako would be stressed like three times over what she knows, raising Lloyd and keeping him safe from all the dangers he attracts because he's a menace to society at that point.
I'm not saying that abandoning your kid is right (cause it's not), what I'm saying is that Misako didn't really have many good options. She couldn't bring him with her for reasons stated above and she couldn't leave him with Wu also for reasons above but also Wu's track record of training prodigies cough Morro cough.
