iāll shake my booty good opinions in my own movie fandomĀ
D*CKN*RV*, IS BA-AD, AND SO-O, IS F*TZR**N, AND ALSO SO IS ST*RNCL*Y AND thatās pretty much it. i mean obviously donāt ship incest or pedophilia but otherwise the taz ships are all pretty good.
why is d*ckn*rv* bad? well. where do we start. not only does it normalize the idea of teacher/student relationships, but the fandom uses it to reduce minerva to nothing more than a love interest for duck, rather than her own independent woman. she was seen by a majority of the wlw in the fandom as heavily lesbian coded, due to her strong and loud nature, her place of power overĀ the men in her life, and the fact that she never seemed to be interested in seeking out romance with the men in her life at all. instead, she was shoved with duck because justin dropped that bomb as if minerva was his character to make choices for, and griffin couldnāt just say no.
why is st*rncl*y bad? good concept, bad build up and execution! stern has no natural character growth, on one occasion (in a LATER episode, not early, 28) said bigfoot was aĀ āthreat he was sent to eliminateā. barclay HAD to out himself as bigfoot to stern in order to save people, rather than in his own comfort and time. and last but not least, stern NEVER QUIT HIS JOB AS A COP.Ā youād think if he gave a single shit about barclayās safety, heād have resigned from the fbi, but instead griffin even said that he was heading a skeleton crew to watch the archway. iād hate this ship SO MUCH LESS if stern had simply... quit his job as a cop. but he didnāt, so... yeah.
why is f*tzr**n bad? this one is iffy. the ship itself i have to say isnāt that bad on its own. as far as canon goes, its... eh. travis seemed to imply that rainer has a crush on fitzroy, but thereās a chance the reason she blushed was simply out of embarrassment rather than attraction. and on the other hand, fitzroy seems to have... absolutely noĀ reciprocating feelings for her. in fact, the idea of being with her made him audibly uncomfortable. but beyond that... my problem isnāt so much with the ship, as it is with the shippers. 90% of the f*tzr**n content i see treats these characters... so terribly poorly. in most cases rainer is either infantilized for her disability, or it is completely ignored all together. there is also a lot of mischaracterization of fitz and rainer, making him much more selfless and gentlemanly than he is in canon, or making her much weaker or a doormat. i wouldnāt hate this ship if it didnāt have such a... reputation to me. a lot of the content i see of it is disrespectful, insensitive, and just not good. the ship itself, while i donāt see them having that much chemistry in canon, isnāt necessarily bad. itās the content i see that makes my skin crawl and makes me dislike it.
