Week 17 of my weekend hobby is out

The Tata Duende, from Belizean folklore, is a small but powerful creature that protects the animals of the jungle. Like many creatures from South and Central America, it is said to have its feet pointed backwards to confuse those who try to follow him.

From Tanzania, the Popobawa is a shapeshifter often described as a half-man, half-bat cyclops.

From Hungarian folklore. The Ördög is a mythical shapeshifting creature. Wiki says it has been in the tales of Hungarians since the early paganism, and later adapted as the devil after christianization.

The Acalica, a kind of fairy with weather control powers. According to local folklore, they live underground, in caves somewhere in Bolivia.

Horses have a special place and symbolism in central Asian culture and mythology. The Tulpar here, is a winged horse used as a symbol by Kazakhstan on its coat of arms.

The Rolling Calf is a ghost in the shape of bull that wonders the Jamaican streets of wrapped in chains.

From the mythology of northern Spain, Ojáncanu is a hairy cyclops with anger problems who lives in the Cantabrian region.

The Sasquatch. The British credit explorer David Thompson as the first to have described Sasquatch footprints in 1811. 🦶

From North American folklore, the Deer Woman/Lady appears in various forms in different native communities, accordingly to our friend 'Wiky', the Lakota call her Anukite, daughter of the first woman.

One of the most famous mythical creatures is undoubtedly Nessy. The origin dates back to August 1933 when a story by George Spicer was published in a newspaper, immediately raising public interest in the brand new Scottish myth.

Stories of the "Chupacabras" first emerged in Puerto Rico, in fact the name, according to Wiki, comes from a local comedian who began calling the animal that way referring to the rumors of what might was probably a mange coyote.

I spent some years of my life living in Singapore so the Merlion cannot be missing from this list of mythical creatures.
