Colors unseen to others can be troublesome when such is only able to be seen by a mere one. True emotions meant to be hidden can be easily be exposed by the slip of this child’s tongue ( should he so choose to ). He isn’t a boy without tact though— when he points out the vivid rainbows he sees, it’s never without meaning. He is well aware the true hue of a color is hidden for many reasons, however he is a member of Switch. Being from a unit created to bring others ‘happiness’ means doing so even off stage.
He has to be invasive, even if others scold him for such.
❝ Master won’t say it, so Sora has to, ❞ he replies simply, though despite the calmness in his voice, he can’t help the frown that mars his usually smiling features. “Sora’s sorry though. He knows he’s being nosy.” His expression becomes solemn, lips pursing as he rocks awkwardly on his heels. He knows he says too much at times— Natsume tells him often he acts too much on his intuition and needs to think his actions out more often. But the elder Oddballs were important to him, and honestly, the only plan Sora had was to get them to spend more time with him. The stuff in between? As always, Sora was simply winging it.
“Sora understands. You care about him so you want him to grow by himself… HuHu…~ Master tries to do that with Sora too, but not spending time with Master makes Sora sad, you know~? Sora feels happy being with him, so that’s why Sora thinks Master would be happy with you and the others too.” He hums thoughtfully, head nodding.
“HiHi~ Doing both is fine, you know~? Spending time with friends is fun…~ It makes Sora happy and Sora knows it makes other people happy too…~ ♪”
the boy is younger, less experienced, could not possibly understand; yet he speaks such a simple truth - the very nature of it basic, even childish -, a truth he had almost chosen to ignore for his sake - would it be a foolish endeavor after all? could his distance cause more harm than it would help?
his dearest friends, few as they are and all the more precious, so close and yet so far - they have each their own units to attend to, their own songs to sing; their gatherings are infrequent, haphazard, but every moment together is a priceless treasure kept close to his heart. by becoming scarce, he wonders who he’d be crueler to - the boy he will leave behind, or he himself.
“shu-kun’s been quiet for a while now. he must be thinking really hard about this, yes~ ?”
“must you provide such incessant commentary, mademoiselle?”
he lets out a sigh, annoyance pulling at his features until they twist into a slight frown, “happiness is brittle, fragile; stumble around carelessly with it, and it will easily shatter.”
they who were once viewed as monsters, labeled as inhuman, their happiness had been torn from them, quickly replaced with undeserving hostility. that happiness could not protect them from the blood that was shed, could not shield them from the damage that was dealt. happiness is but an ephemeral state of mind that comes and goes -
he hesitates then, reconsiders his decision - he thinks of that smile, and knows that he wants to be the source of it.
“however, there may be some merit to what you say - it is slightly drastic to completely remove myself from his side, i suppose. there will be other opportunities for him to grow, other ways for me to aid him.” it’s a marginal change, one that would go unnoticed without the proper attention, but his eyes soften with secret gratitude for an inner conflict finally resolved.
ah, but he hasn’t forgotten that this boy sees in invisible colours - no doubt that which he’d prefer to keep hidden away has already been revealed to those eyes.
“fufu~ shu-kun’s too proud to ask, but would you happen to know where natsume-kun is right now, harukawa-kun? your words have really resonated with him, you see, so he’d like to see natsume-kun right away~ ”
