The thing about the KCD2 romance paths is it really kind of feels like Katherine is too busy being a spy and wrangling Zizka like a cat for Henry to even register as a long term romantic partner for her (and that’s without the added context of her Tragic Backstory), Rosa probably would marry Henry if he wasn’t a bastard but she knows she can’t, and so they have one bittersweet night together with the understanding that it isn’t meant to be, and then Hans is like. “Hey Henry, let’s do our best to delay my upcoming arranged marriage as long as possible in some place more private, and then after that you’ll still be my loyal squire that I would die if anything happened to, right?”
i honestly find it revealing that Rosa is the only romance that isn't fully incompatable with any others, except Theresa's. Henry can both romance Hans or Katherine after completing the Rosa's romance. Which kinda feels like the game is telling the player "it is meant to be a small dalliance, nothing more" (something Rosa explicitly states).
To me, of what I have seen of it at least, Rosa's romamce kinda looks and feels like both Rosa and Henry are indulging in a Knight-Lady romance fantasy. They flirt, Henry is all stereo typical courtlyness, Rosa sends the knight on quests. And then when they have slept together, and Henry is getting a bit too invested in the fantasy, Rosa reminds them both of reality. Henry, who seemingly prefers emotional connection over just a fling, is taken aback by it, cause he thought Rosa was actually interested in him.
And Rosa on a certain level was. But she seemed more interested in the fantasy of Henry than the actual implications of them having a romance. Which is why she shuts Henry down.
like, you can of course at the end of the game make Henry say that he will keep persuing Rosa. But it kinda feels like that is a player choice, not a Henry choice. Henry's default option is to say he would like to keep adventuring with Hans.
