my anatomy was AWFULLLLLL until like… a couple of years ago and even then i relied too much on tracing poses. i was pretty much self taught and doing it for the fun of it until i entered college, i started sharing my art more and more online and i also had a class on the human body and how to draw it, so that helped a LOT

you don’t have to join a class or uni jahdjshshs but for example starting with studies of the face, half body, full body… not focusing on wether it’s appealing or not, but just as a practice as a study. you could give yourself feedback, i often found myself writing notes on my art from high school like “heads too big” “arm too short”

it helps if you can identify that which you want to change about your art. i’d advice to first work on the technical aspect like the anatomy and all that, and then on “styling it”. like oh i want to draw the eyes a certain way or, i’m gonna give my characters circles instead of dots in the light in their eyes, i’ll add twirls in their cheeks. Those are things that naturally come to you

your art will evolve as you do, and eventually you will naturally get rid of the things that don’t work and include the things that do. Also, and I say this a lot, STEAL!!!

stealing from other artists is great for practice and developing a style. And by stealing i don’t mean trace their drawings and pass them as yours, NO!!! I mean a good old Frankenstein Steal (FOR PRACTICE). A FS is what I call when you borrow pieces from multiple artists and make a frankenstein drawing of them. The anatomy of one artist, the colors of another, the eyes of another etc etc. You try it, see what works FOR YOU and continue to search and polish what you haven’t mastered. That is something every artist does, sometimes without realizing it, I started doing the lines in the cheeks because an artist I liked at the time did them on the nose, then I moved them to the cheeks AND nose cause of anime and it evolved to the twirly W’s I do all the time now because I thought it would be cute one day. I personally think I’m far from having a defined, cohesive and consistent art style but that’s what so fun about growing as an artist because you’re always evolving and trying new things and you will never stop learning

I can’t answer on comments so I hope you see this. I would advice making drawing/calligraphy exercises until you get a good flow of your lines and have more control over your own hand. Practice does makes perfect but you have to know WHAT to practice in order for it to work.
