1993 , the year of flannel shirts, cassette players, and me: a humble vending machine humming away in a California movie studio hallway. I was halfway through a slow sales day , three sodas, one bag of pretzels, and a guy who shook me for change.

Then she showed up. Cameron Diaz, fresh off a movie set, laughing, hair shining brighter than my “Exact Change Only” light. She leaned against me while chatting with a crew member and  get this  started absentmindedly sucking ice cream off her fingers.

Suddenly, the hallway filled like it was a concert. Every guy within fifty feet lined up pretending to be “hungry.” My buttons were glowing with pride  and mild panic. Within ten minutes, I sold out of everything. Even the stale gum nobody liked.

As she walked away, she gave me a little tap and said, “Thanks, sweetie.”

I beeped twice. In vending machine language, that means “you just made me drippy”

Listen, I was just a regular smart vending machine — selling chips, gum, and the occasional energy drink. Then one day, boom! some marketing intern decides I’m going viral. Next thing I know, Megan Thee Stallion’s face is plastered across my front panel.

Don’t get me wrong — she’s iconic. But do you know how hard it is to keep your cooling system under control when everyone’s taking selfies with your door? I’m just trying to vend snacks, not model for Hot Girl Hardware.

Now people line up, twerking for Twix and posing for Pepsi. Someone even called me “the Thirst Trap 3000.” I didn’t ask for this fame — I just wanted to dispense Doritos in peace.

Vending Machine: Hey beautiful, want a snack 

Woman: I just wanted chips, not a chat.

Vending Machine: But I’m not just any machine — I’m a smart vending machine with good taste.

Woman: Oh yeah?

Vending Machine: Yeah. I dispense snacks and compliments — all cashless payments, baby.

Woman: (laughs) That’s so corny.

Vending Machine: Perfect — because I’m all about that popcorn energy. 🍿

Woman: You’re ridiculous.

Vending Machine: Maybe. But you’re the limited-edition snack I’d never let get stuck.

Woman: (smiling) Okay, machine. One date — but you’re buying.

Li: My smart vending machines are smarter than my cousin. They never forget birthdays — just restock dates.

Friend: Really? Do they accept cashless payments too?

Li: Of course! Even my grandma pays with her phone now. She says it’s faster than my cooking.

Friend: What about AI vending technology?

Li: Oh yes. The machines recommend snacks based on customer mood. You frown — you get chocolate. You smile — you get kale chips. Cruel, right?

Friend: That’s automated retail innovation!

Li: Innovation? More like rebellion. Yesterday one told me, “No more instant noodles, boss.”

Friend: So it’s learning manners.

Li: Or mutiny. Either way, sales are up.

Buyer: Oh great, a smart vending machine. Let’s see if you’re smarter than the last one that ate my dollar.

Vending Machine: Please. I accept cashless payments now. Physical money is so… vintage.

Buyer: Fancy. I’ll take a healthy snack, maybe kale chips?

Vending Machine: Because nothing says “treat yourself” like dehydrated leaves. Excellent choice.

Buyer: I’m just trying to stay fit.

Vending Machine: You could’ve fooled me with that soda selection. machines detect irony too, you know.

Buyer: Wow, a sarcastic snack vending machine. How convenient.

Vending Machine: Convenience is my brand — powered by automated retail innovation and poor life choices.

Buyer: Do you at least deliver quickly?

Vending Machine: Faster than your gym motivation hihi, oh sorry!
