how i did my baby blue crochet braids!!
So! warning, this process was LONG and annoying as fuck. took me about 5 days before i started installing the actual crochet braids. Anywhoo I bought 7 packs of Magic Gold brand white kanekalon hair (I only ended up using about 6). I bought Speedball acryllic ink in blue and white, mixed that with rubbing alcohol (4 parts alcohol to 1 part ink)
I put the ink mixture in a lil bowl, other people use a spray bottle but mine was busted so it didn’t work for me.
So because the spray bottle wasn’t working I used an old makeup brush to basically paint the dye on. this was a looooooong and tedious process.
tip: i didn’t use rubber gloves until my second day of dyeing like an idiot lmao. After i dyed all the hair, i left the bundles to dry overnight. Then i rinsed them in cold water and set them out to dry again.
I got really impatient after dying a couple of them that when I washed them they weren’t completely dry and some of the dye rubbed off, turned out really cool because the areas that weren’t dry ended up nice and light. Added some cool dimension to the hair. After they were dry I used cold perm rods, nice and small so they would turn into nice tight ringlets. I got 36 of them.
Then I wrapped small sections (about a cm wide) of the hair around the perm rods, twisting as I went. After the hair was wrapped, I put all the rods in a bowl and let them soak for about 20 minutes in boiling water.
Then i let those dry and installed like regular crochet braids. tadaaaaa!
UPDATE!!!!!!: I forgot to say that prior to wrapping the hair around the perm rods i rubbed castor oil on them, made a huge difference.
