The new workshop in Pouzauges inaugurated in 2018 offers an optimal working environment. Perfectly integrated into its natural environment, this site features a 50,000 m2 park made up of local plant species and hedgerows, thus minimizing the impact of the surrounding buildings and roads on the landscape.

The car park features vegetated valleys, which filter, through the use of macrophytes, the hydrocarbons from our staff’s vehicles. We have also set up sockets for electric cars and a bicycle parking lot. Efforts were made to develop new eco-friendly attitudes and encourage our teams to use less polluting modes of transport or prefer soft mobility. Whether indoors or outdoors, the entire site is lit by LEDs, generating low power consumption. The roof is equipped with a rainwater recovery system, which is used to water our green spaces. Dual-flow ventilation, optimal use of natural lighting and all other innovations aim to reduce all the site's energy impacts, which are monitored using dedicated software.

In 2018 Longchamp celebrated its 70th anniversary. The same year the House inaugurated its new production site in Pouzauges, in the Vendée region, France. The inauguration of the House’s new workshop offered another occasion to celebrate the brand's development during this anniversary year.

Thanks to this new site, Longchamp can count on a modern, robust and sustainable organization featuring six French workshops located in the Loire region - in Segré, Rémalard, Ernée, Combrée, Château-Gontier, and Pouzauges - as well as the workshops of Longchamp Tunisia and Longchamp Mauritius.

Last night, Longchamp’s President Philippe Cassegrain, Global CEO Jean Cassegrain, Artistic Director Sophie Delafontaine, and Vice President & Managing Director of Retail in the U.S. Olivier Cassegrain celebrated the opening of Longchamp Fifth Avenue with special co-host and newly announced campaign face, Kendall Jenner. Guests included Aline Weber, Calu Rivero, Cara Delevingne, Crystal Reed, Dylana Suarez, Ella Richards, Eniko Mihalik, Jeanne Damas, Jenny Walton, Jeremy Scott, Juliette Longuet, Krystal Bick, Lola Rykiel, Marina Nery, Paris Jackson, Patricia Manfield, Pauline Hoarau, Ryan McGinness, Sarah Andelman, Scott Eastwood, Scott Schuman, Sophie Elgort, Sofia Reising, and Victoria Brito.

Inside the boutique, shoppers will be drawn to the focal point of the flagship—artwork titled Transchromie Mécanique Aléatoire by the Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez. Cruz-Diez is known for his kinetic and optic aesthetic which is evident in this piece. Through the artwork’s moiré effect, Cruz-Diez is able to create a sense of motion while also catalyzing an immersive visual experience through color. There is a synergy and continuity between the composition of Cruz-Diez’s work and the linear elements of the façade.

New York City, NY, USA. Spring 2018. Longchamp—the esteemed French luxury house—will open its New York City flagship store on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, one of the world’s most famous shopping boulevards today. Located at 645 Fifth Avenue in the Olympic Tower, adjacent to Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the 4,000 square-foot, two story space will be the brand’s largest outpost in the United States.

Taking the concept of travel gear into a new era, the “Longchamp by Shayne Oliver” collection merges Longchamp's history of craftsmanship and French elegance with Oliver’s transformative aesthetic, resulting in a dynamic offering for both men and women.

The collection includes leather goods, footwear, ready-to-wear and garment bags, as well as a new iteration of Longchamp’s iconic Le Pliage® tote, reimagined by Oliver. “I really like the idea of working with brands that are masters of their craft,” Oliver shared. “Longchamp has a prestigious history of providing luxury travel essentials with expert craftsmanship. It made total sense to work with them on my first all accessories project.”

Throughout the collection, proportions are challenged and silhouettes are altered, disrupting the preconceptions of modern day travel. Travel takes on a new art form, underscored by unwavering freedom and temporal mobility. "While this is not the first collaboration for Longchamp or Shayne Oliver, it was a particularly energizing experience to work with Shayne in order to offer an unexpected collection to our customers," said Longchamp Artistic Director, Sophie Delafontaine. "Designing Longchamp product through Shayne's lens was an exciting challenge that allowed us to create product that is truly original."

Longchamp By Shayne Oliver will launch at select Longchamp stores in the US and on Longchamp.com before rolling out to Longchamp stores internationally in early May 2018.

Momentum and possibility, movement and progression have always been the forces behind Shayne Oliver’s vision, driving the artistic direction of his collections and collaborations. These elements have informed Oliver’s overall point of view, which he brings to his new collaboration with Longchamp. The founder of New York-based cult menswear label Hood By Air joined forces with the luxury French leather goods and fashion house to develop an inventive capsule collection of travel accessories and ready-to-wear that merges the distinct creative spirit of both collaborators.

Longchamp hosted an exclusive cocktail reception to celebrate the opening of “La Maison Omotesando,” its first flagship store in Japan. The opening party began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Sophie Delafontaine, Jean Cassegrain, Olivier Cassegrain and leading French actress Audrey Tautou, a close family friend. The event reached a climax with a collaboration between French DJ Inès Mélia and Japanese DJ Mademoiselle Yulia, and a dance performance by Japanese dancers Yohei Suzuki and Mika Ikeda. Guests enjoyed these exclusive moments in a luxury, one-night-only atmosphere.

Along the floating staircase, the boutique’s rooms are traversed against the backdrop of John Aslanidis’ visual melody in Sonic Network No. 18. Longchamp approached artist John Aslanidis with the opportunity to fulfill his vision for the brand’s new boutique. 

Through an intersection of art, music and mathematics, the artist heeded this request, and created a tailor-made, in-situ commission for La Maison Omotesando. His multi-disciplinary approach parallels the brand’s values of innovation and creative expression as these meticulously laid out vivid vibrations resonate throughout the space.

Today, Longchamp prevails as a marker of style and contemporary Parisian luxury fashions maintaining its close kinship with Japan. 35 meters tall, across 7 floors, 500 square meters floor space, Longchamp’s Flagship, La Maison Omotesando, is the brand’s largest boutique in Asia.

For MAMO, the French artist has conceived a single gesture, a single piece. A monumental 17m arrow, placed horizontally upon the terrace, pointing towards the gymnasium « I have made an exhibition for the birds, not for people. This rooftop terrace reminds me of an aircraft carrier, a landing strip for flying saucers, I wish to see it from above. The arrow, black like a shadow, will point to the MAMO, containing my treasures, a series of works fundamental to the history of my career. The arrow says « it’s here » this is where it’s happening but it’s also saying « it’s me », as an acceptable form of vanity, as a form of ambition and not pretension. I lay a sign upon the architecture to confront it to my personal scale ».
