Solas deserves a warm embrace and a safe space, somewhere where he doesn't feel alone anymore, someone to tell him he will be okay, someone to reassure him that it is okay to let go, to grieve. The man has been so traumatized that he's stuck in the denial phase, he's being eaten up by his regret, he is losing his himself and casting himself off into solitude because he thinks that is how he will fix everything. He needs help and I sincerely hope we get to give him that.
His story won't end with his downfall.
This is just my take as I enjoy seeing so many perspectives. In this case, youâll have to agree to disagree with me, as I disagree in the idea of saving Solas.
I pity him sure, heâs been through it. However, the weight of his fuck-ups put him past redemption. For me. Even more so that heâs willing to kill thousands without hesitation in some desperate act to restore whatâs been lost to the ages.
He gets no mercy from me.
Call me a hater, thatâs fine. He was a great friend to my Lavellan. Until he wasnât. His story might not end with his downfall in your world, but in mine? It will. If bringing him down means saving those still alive, loved and longed for on Thedas, then heâs going down.
Those alive deserve to live.
Varricâs nickname for Maierwynn Mahariel is âGigglesâ.
She has contagious laughter that tends to border on hysterical cackling, and she laughs boisterously, long and often. Even in the midst of a shit show. While it takes little to no effort for her companions to join in on such merriment, others might find her maniacal giggling concerning.
There have been few exchanges on the state of her mental wellbeing.
Scenario I need to drawâŚ
Maierwynn is rather polite when it comes to her table manners most days. But after a day of walking, fighting, and surviving with little to no rest and starving? Forget it, she eats with a savagery thatâd make an Avarran blush. While most of her companions would watch in horror mixed with disgust, youâll observe Oghren, Sten, and especially Alistair enamored by such a bestial display.

**Note: I enjoy the willowy appearance of the elves, but sometimes Iâm thinking⌠why not make mine thicker than a Dalish snicker.

So I have this burning thought that I simply canât ignore.
I only romanced Solas once out of sheer curiosity but bald ancient baddies arenât really my type. My only take on it is this: youâre getting down and dirty doing the naughty with the egg, but you canât exactly pull hair if he doesnât have any.
How do you compensate for that?
âŚDâyou use a plunger?
Iâve got a confession. The horse is dead but here I am, still beating it.
A lot of people are hoping for a return of the Inquisitor and the Champion in the coming chapter Dreadwolf. Call me silly, because I am, but Iâd be grateful to see the Hero return. HoF was almost a silent protagonist, aside from the little quips youâd hear during battle, but it seems unfair to leave them out simply because of that. People think itâd take away the individuality of the character, but you could say the same for the Inquisitor and the Champion if thatâs the case. I came up with their own voices unique to them just like with my Hero, because the voice actors honestly didnât fit for the characters I had created. At the very least, Iâm sure some of us would appreciate closure.
For me, Iâd like to know she found a cure, and found her way home to the love of her life. Forever this time. Or you know, she makes some badass entry on the back of a goddamn griffon alongside Alistair when shitâs going down bad like,
âHeard youâve been searching for me. Well, here I am.â
(heavy breathing intensifies)

The Fade in Dragon Age: Inquisition
âLook. The Black City, almost close enough to touch.â
Actual quotes from Alistair the âChantry Boyâ
Alistair: The Circle is here at the kingâs request and the Chantry doesnât like that one bit. They just love letting mages know how unwelcome they are.
Alistair: You want the Chantryâs version or the truth? Warden: They arenât the same thing? Alistair: (Laughs.) They seldom are.
Alistair: The Chantry raised me and becoming a templar was a decision made for me a long time ago. Alistair: Duncan saw I wasnât happy, and figured my training against mages could double for fighting darkspawn. Now, here I stand a proud Grey Warden. Alistair: The grand cleric wouldnât have let me go if Duncan never forced the issue. Iâll always be grateful to him. Warden: You didnât want to join the Chantry? Alistair: It just⌠wasnât for me. I believe in the Maker well enough, but I never wanted to devote my life to the Chantry.
Warden: You speak fondly of Duncan. Alistair: I spent years in that chantry, hopelessly resigned to my fate. Duncan was the first person who cared what I wanted.
Warden: So youâre not happy in the Grey Wardens? Alistair: Far from it. I never wanted to be a templar, anyway.
Alistair: The Chantry would tell you that the templars exist simply to defend, but donât let them fool you. Theyâre an army.
Warden: Have you hunted many mages? Alistair: No. I never actually became a full templar. Duncan recruited me before I took my vows. Alistair: I was only present during one Harrowing. That was all I needed, too. I donât know how anyone could get through that. Alistair: The girl they tested⌠she had a demon put inside her, to see if she could resist. And she couldnât. We had to⌠end it quickly. Alistair: I have to say I didnât have much interest in becoming a templar after that.
Alistair: Iâm not exactly the Chantry type, if you havenât noticed. I donât think I would have made a very good templar.
Warden: You donât seem like the religious sort. Alistair: Youâre telling me. I was banished to the kitchens to scour the pots more times than I can count. And thatâs a lot; I can count pretty high.
Warden: Do all templars make these jokes? Or just you? Alistair: Oh, you know⌠between all the guilt and the hours spent in solemn prayer, any good templar or priest is just bursting to tell a few good jokes when the opportunity arises.
Warden: Not this again. Canât you answer a simple question? Alistair: I used to be able to, but then the Chantry beat it out of me. Sad, but true. I canât hardly get through a pillow fight these days without becoming overcome with guilt, either.
Alistair: [Broken Circle] As I recall from my time as a templar, locking the door and throwing away the key was âplan Bâ.
Alistair: [Warden about to accept Kolgrimâs gift of dragon blood] Are you sure this is wise? I stood by while you did that thing with the Ashes, but theyâre just ashes. This is different.
Leliana: You must have been a brother before you became a templar, no?Alistair: I never actually became a templar. I was recruited into the Grey Wardens before I took my final vows. Leliana: Do you ever regret leaving the Chantry? Alistair: No, never. Do you?
Wynne: The Templars serve a function, and a necessary one. If what has happened at the tower proves anything, it is that we mages can be dangerous⌠even to ourselves. Alistair: Thatâs⌠one way of looking at it.
Morrigan: So I take it you did not enjoy your templar training? Alistair: Thatâs directed at me, I take it? Morrigan: Do you see any others about who have failed at their religious instruction? Alistair: I didnât fail. I was recruited into the Grey Wardens. Morrigan: And if you had not been recruited? What would have happened, instead? Alistair: I would have turned into a drooling lunatic, slaughtered the grand cleric and run through the streets of Denerim in my small clothes, I guess. Morrigan: Your self-awareness does you credit. Alistair: I thought youâd like that.
Alistair: Let me guess: thatâs your final answer? Meredith: [If Mage Warden] You declare your Circle of Magi free, as if its your right to do so, and thus stir up every mage outside of your kingdom. Meredith: [If not Mage Warden] Three mages have fled to Ferelden, and you have intervened to protect them as if it is your right to do so. Meredith: What other answer did you expect, your Majesty? Alistair: A âmaybeâ might have been nice.
Hawke: You were having an argument about mages? Alistair: Yes, well, apparently I donât feel the same way about mages as the Chantry does. Alistair: So weâre in disagreement. That means they get nasty. Theyâre like that.
Alistair: What you can do is protect Kirkwall. It will take someone like you to keep it from falling apart. Hawke: Protect Kirkwall from what, exactly? Alistair: You ask me, the biggest threat to this city just walked out the door. Alistair: But maybe thatâs the ex-templar in me talking.
Alistair: [In the Crowâs prison] Iâm not sure Iâm going the right way, but there canât be a worse place than here. There are screams from the cells like a chorus. Iâm studying with the templars again, listening to the Holy Chant, and I just want out.
