Hi there and thank you so much ♥ That’s not a stupid question at all! I wear petticoats under my dresses, which gives them their shape.  A few others have asked me about which petticoats I use, so I’ll take this opportunity to share that information as well!

My favorite petticoat for MAXIMUM POOF is the Madeline petticoat by Malco Modes.  It was actually too puffy, so I removed the top layer.  Here are some before and after pictures so you can see how much of a difference it makes:

And despite it being an A-line petticoat, you can tuck up the first layer to give dresses a cupcake shape!

hi there! a few of my friends have asked me this too, so i decided to draw a little diagram.  hopefully it helps?? i’m not a great artist so i’ll explain with steps, too!

use a ponytail holder/elastic to tie your hair up into a high ponytail, wherever you want the bun to sit on your head.  i usually tie mine a little off-center because i prefer my bun to the side.  make sure to tie close to your scalp!

use another ponytail holder and start tying the ponytail up just as you were before, but stop about a third of the way to create a loop in your hair.  this is a fiddly bit, but when it’s done you should have a loop and a tuft of hair sticking out like a tail.

wrap the leftover tuft of hair around the loop.  the goal is to cover up the hole in the loop.  wrap loosely! when you’re done wrapping and it’s beginning to look spherical, pin the end of the tail in place.  you might need to pin it several times in order for it to stay how you like.

now you have the basic structure of your bun, but it might not look quite as spherical/voluminous as you want it--this is when you need to break out the bobbypins and the hairspray.  if bits are sticking out, stuff ‘em in the bun with bobbypins.  if bits aren’t as puffy as you like, pull ‘em out.  when it’s looking to be the right shape, i use hairspray to keep it together! this step is really ambiguous, but you get a feel for it.
