Now THIS is what I'd call tubular! The background's filled with all these radically different surfaces—each having their own colors, their own funky pattern—and yet it feels like they were made for each other. You've got these lighter patterns to the side, while the wall behind Mithrun and the floor below him have darker, more calming colors. I love the wavy white and green pattern on the left wall and the blue 'n' yellowish ripples on the wall across, and man oh man is that floor epic! You drew all these ripples with little holes here 'n' there, some small bubbles, and even added shadows below the lines to give it the illusion of depth! You nailed this balance where you can tell it's a floor pattern and not actual water, but it also looks believable enough that it comes across as, well, an actual pattern mimicking it in truly spectacular fashion! Looks like something that took a while to draw. Heck, everything here looks like it took a while to draw! My favorite wall is definitely the one behind Mithrun. It's got all these lines and sparkles that kinda resemble a rad rave or something if you squint a little! The green lines are like spotlights lighting up the night sky while yellow waves of sound emanate from the corner, the little sparkles being that finishing touch for a lovely night sky. I like the prominence of green, with both the “spotlights” and even some sparkles being that color, while the yellow lines and other sparkles help fancy it up a little with some variety. Before I actually get to big M, I also wanna mention that those glowing flower things are a rad addition that further add to this artwork's aesthetic, and I also love the different speech bubbles—one a paper-like thingamajig that kinda hovers over the artwork and casts a shadow, while the other's a lovely scribble that I think suits the art wonderfully as well! See? Even the speech bubbles have that same trippy variety! Real swell stuff, I tell ya.
ANYWAY, Mithrun tiiiiime! Right away, I love the thick white outline around him. If there's any way to make this guy stand out from the trippy background in a way that suits the look of the artwork, this is it right here! Even without it, though, I'd say you did a damn fine job giving him clothes and colors that really pop while still fitting both him and the environment perfectly! I love how you drew his hair as always, and his eyes look marvelous as well. The lids, the lashes, the bags; it's perfect! That little flush on his nose is wonderful, and I also love how you drew his glasses with these bright colors and outlines that add to its vibrancy tenfold! His visible ear has been drawn nicely as well, and his head overall is just looking spec-TACULAR! Oh yeah, before moving on to clothing, I just want to mention I absolutely love the nail polish you added to Mithrun. Seriously, it looks splendid and I don't think this artwork would look as good without it! Moving on; his yellow tunic has been drawn excellently. The blue flowers are a lovely touch and I'm a big fan of how you drew all the creases. His sweater sags in a way I haven't really seen before, and I can't help but love it with all my heart—especially with the colored crosses on the lowered side! Once again, all the creases here look perfect and really add to the weight and tangibility of this thing in a way that helps it stand out from the other clothes. The pattern is lovely, and I also think the badges are an adorable addition! That asexual badge in particular is pretty neato! (Also, I dunno whatcha call the darker, thicker green parts at the ends of the sleeves and such, but the way you drew it really scratches my brain in a funny way. Everything about this sweater is the bomb!) His pants, unsurprisingly, also have a unique texture and weight thanks to the way you drew 'em, with the ends of the… sleeves? Sleeves? Eh, I'm going with sleeves… With the ends of the sleeves looking particularly good! I really like how all the colors come together, and holy cannoli do they go well with those snazzy stompers he's wearing! The soles on those things are legendary! Ahh, and the shadows! Ohh, the shadows! Some of 'em have lines, some of 'em don't—it's where you put those lines that I think really makes this look perfect! As an aside, I think it's cool that Mithrun's outline casts a shadow as well, and the walls themselves seem largely unaffected, which makes 'em look all the more vibrant. Such a cool stylistic choice!
All these contrasting colors and patterns, the presence and yet simultaneous lack of depth in the background*, Mithrun's incredibly stylish swag; everything comes together to create this gloriously funky aesthetic that I adore with all my heart! I can imagine Mithrun would take a tumble in a place like this.
*I forgot to mention this earlier, but what I mean is that while there's definitely depth to the stairs, I don't see much room between the sides and the wall in the back, which I think adds to the artwork's energy splendidly! It feels a little disorienting, adding to the idea that this is messing with Mithrun.
