Dawn Timer had been looking for a way out the moment they killed them.
Their existence had been a blessing from the sun itself. The day before they were born, Celestia had sealed Nightmare Moon with the Elements of Harmony. For most, it had been the brightest morning Equestria had ever gotten.
From the first ray of sunshine, a child came to be. It was unheard of, a miracle! A pony born from nothing on the day after their greatest tragedy.
Maizen Spring and Day Dreamer were a couple who couldn't convince a child, no matter how much they wanted.
Maizen was a unicorn of little magic, but what he lacked in magic, he made up for with his artistic nature. He was a sculptor, while not well known, he was often praised for his work in realism. Day Dreamer was a pegasus who worked as a teacher and part time coal miner.
While his husband was often commissioned for his sculptures, that didnt mean they were living the comfortable life. They were on the lower working class more often than not.
Maizen liked to think that he had their routine down to the tea. Dreamer would wake with the sun and make breakfast for two before leaving for work. Maizen would wake to Dreamer pushing him off the bed, otherwise he wouldn't wake up.
They'd talk about their plans for the evening, the place they lived in was becoming somewhat known for its nightlife.
Throughout the day, Maizen would work on his commissions, while Dreamer would then go to work in the mines. It was how their days always went. Until midday, when the moon rose over the sun.
The ground started to shake, ancient trees started falling, breaking off from their roots. The Timberwolves howling and running about as the chaos ensued.
The battle between the two sisters was loud and powerful. Ponies could see the beams of magic miles from where it came. Maizen and Dreamer lived relatively far from the castle, in a small upstarting community on the outskirts of the Everfree Forest called the Lunar Village. Built in honor of Princess Luna.
"What do you think happened at the castle?" "I hope whatever it is ends soon. The children can only take so much!"
The voices in the village were hushed but clear. Maizen was worried for Dreamer, it was his shift at the mines right now so it was hard to receive any updates from either side. He stumbled as the ground shook and and a hole was blown through the front of the castle.
Maizen gulped and grabbed his satchel. He wasn't about to lose his husband, not when they only have each other to lean on. Just then, Dreamer came through the door looking hagard, searching for Maizen. Once they locked eyes, a sense of relief came but was cut short when another blast of magic came from the castle.
"What happened?? I came back as soon as I could!" Dreamer asked with furrowed brows.
"I knew something was off when the earth started shaking! Thank Celestia, you're okay!" Maizen nuzzled into Dreamer's neck, overwhelmed with emotion.
Dreamer sighed and wrapped his wings around them.
"Dreamer, we need to evacuate the village. Whatever's happening is getting closer and we don't– can't to risk it!" Maizen said as he led them out the door. "Head east, warn the others there and I'll take care of the rest." He looked up, teary eyed at his husband.
"Promise me you'll be safe?" "....I'll try my best."

Chapter 1
No matter how many times Mavis came to the cemetery, it never got easier. Johnny had been her first everything, after all. He didnt want the Bite, and as much as it hurt her, she understood why.
They'd lived a long and fulfilling 85 years together. He did everything with his family, knowing that they'll never have forever. Dennis had taken it far worse than her. He was his hero, Johnny picked him up when Mavis couldn't, helping him with his growing pains. It had been a year since he'd died.
She stared at his headstone.
'Here Lies Johnathan "Johnny" Loughran-Dracula'
Loving husband, father, and DJ adventurer September 8, 1991 - June 14 ,2097
"Hey Johnny, I'm sorry for for being late today. I almost couldnt bring myself to get up today..." Mavis let out a pained chuckle. Her eyes softened.
"The others couldnt make it today, there was a problem with dragon and it was messing with your sound system."
She remembered how hard he'd worked to start his own audio company. His work had help upped the hotel's performance hall, bringing various famous people from around the world to perform. It was amazing.
She began tearing up. "I knows its just been a year, but we miss you so much- I miss you so much. I don't blame you for not wanting the Bite but I can't help but feel so— selfish. I still want you here with me."
Mavis breaks down into heavy sobbing, she couldnt hold back the constant grief she'd been feeling. Why couldn't she move on? Why had he chosen to leave? She knew the answer to that one, she just... didnt want to think about it.

Jaune walks along the shore of the Ever After when he sees someone.
Jaune had been visiting the shorelines of the Ever After, waiting for a sign that the others were finally down there with him. It had only been a year since a Alex left... since Lewis had died because of the Cat.
Many would think Jaune had the paper pleasers memorized, all their little attempts to get into water, to get crushed, and all that other stuff. But it took him years, after he'd stopped their first attempt, they just kept trying to find other ways. It got easier when he and the twins stumbled into each other.
Ever since he finally understood the timing of the paper pleasers, he gave himself time to visit the shores again more frequently. He'd been there for almost 40 years, they're bound to be close to falling. They just had to.
As he and Juniper walked, he thought about Phyrra. He thought about how she never got to live past 20, would she have been proud of who he became? Angry? Tears welled up in his eyes, he would never know. She was already dead.
Jaune was nudged forward by Juniper, who had her ears up and was facing forward. Jaune turned to see someone sprawled on the sand. Overwhelmed, he ran to it without thinking, Juniper close behind. As he got closer the more he felt hope.
He skid to a stop when he finally saw who it was. Jaune choked back his tears.
Because there she was.
Penny laid motionless, her eyes half-lidded looking up as if she could see the stars. Her blood staining the sand beneath her. Her clothes were damp from the crashing waves hitting her.
She looked almost exactly as he'd killed her all those years ago. He never thought he'd ever see her again. He should've though. Where else would a dead body go but down?
