carina was confused. that was her most dominant emotion. not the rage bubbling in her stomach at the sight of her ex boyfriend. not the shaky feeling of terror that refused to leave her, ever since that roof almost killed them. her confusion turned to sadness, to a rationalisation; she needed to focus on something else before she completely lost it. “they were louboutins! very expensive, very collectors’ edition! what are you even doing here?” she was cradling the left shoe in her hand, every scuff mark on the shiny surface breaking her fickle heart. “i would die for them! speaking of dying…” here comes the rage. “….what the fuck is happening? you show up out of nowhere, and then there’s people shooting at me, and then a roof falls on us…what the fuck, Nate?” 

she had a point to be angry. he would have been pissed off if someone had barged into his home, guns blazing. he’d have shot them all down himself--- but carina didn’t have that closure. there was a long pause between her questioning and his response. there was no way he knew how to explain any of this to her, a civilian. a witch, he corrected himself. he slightly shook his head, trying to rid himself of the idea that carina was even aware of the supernatural. there was no way. “the important thing is we’re alive,” he muttered, his voice softer than it had been before.

“so, you know how you like ice cream, and i like ice cream….apparently, this is optimal ice cream eating season. not quite cold, but not quite hot yet. i got use two cones, so..”

“that was so sweet of you.” at least that’s still the same, she thought. the ice cream melted against her tongue, a refreshing reminder that she hadn’t eaten anything all day. it had been hard to muster an appetite after learning of the lies her parents raised her with. “thank you very much, kind sir.”

“yeah, whenever i need to hide out from my sister, i sneak up here, and sit on the hill.” it was a mound, at max. nothing taller than that, covered in grass, not too far from home. clary liked feeling the wind in her face on those nights, feeling herself connecting with mother earth. but tonight, there was more on her mind than just that. “….we need to talk, right?” @magnctis

“or,” she huffed a quiet sigh, her eyes avoiding clary and focusing on the lonely road that was visible from their seat. the blonde next to her was the only person who knew her well enough to make her skittish. a smile spreading across her face, she looked back at clarissa, shrugging her shoulders. “or we could ignore it like i do with everything else. i’m okay with that, too.”

Gideon Banks Age 34 Affiliation: Delphine spy Unaffiliated, ex-bandit

Boston hood, born and bred. His family runs a street gang called The Red Knights in the ghetto of South Boston. His life has always been surrounded by danger, and he finally joined in on it when his older brother was recruited and initiated - making him next in line for initiation.

Even though he grew up in the gang, it wasn’t one of those “ride or die” deals with him. He only joined it because he had to, or risked expulsion from his family. But gangs are for life, and at 24 years old Gideon didn’t want that to be his life. The Red Knights have an exit process that requires the petitioning member to kill a civilian they consider a friend. 

Ya boi Banks wasn’t with that shit, so he made a deal with the friend he was supposed to kill. They fake the death and his friend can skip town to get out of a debt owed to a local bookie, while Banks gets his exit from TRK. 

He joined the Bandits for the sense of brotherhood, but didn’t like their new affiliation with the Rising Star when it started. He approached a member of the Delphine Syndicate and cut a deal - he spies for them as a friend of the Bandits and they offer him protection. He was also to keep an eye on Vera Kennedy and the mayor, though he didn’t count on falling in love with her. 

He’s not an evil guy, but is pretty hard to read emotionally. You can call him a kind of nomad, because he’s never been completely dedicated to any phase or group in his life as he lives through it. Growing up in TRK taught him how to be a good soldier/pawn, but it’s hard to hold his loyalty. It always comes down to self-preservation.

Olivia Delphine, the first child adopted by Michel Delphine and the oldest of the siblings. She considers herself superior even to his biological children who came after her. As a child she thought that since she was chosen by Michel, it meant she was the most important - which ended up being true. 

She was found as a toddler in a Turkish village that had been pillaged by Kurdish rebels. DelPharma was there to offer medical relief and she was one of the many children left orphaned by the attacks. 

She’s the type of person that leaves trails of whispers behind her. Very few people know her deeply enough to refrain from participating in the gossip about her. She has a kind face and a gentle hand, so many wonder why she has such a large and loyal following. Maybe because she can kill a man six ways with just the clasp of her purse.

the last thing he expected to be doing was driving down a freeway with his ex girlfriend. she shouldn’t have been any of his concern, yet there she was, complicating things again. his grip tightened on the steering wheel while she continued whining, as she had been doing since they caught a moment to breathe. “i’m sorry your shoes got so badly ruined, carina,” he scoffed, his eyes not moving from the empty road ahead of them. “would you have rather given them your life?”

the sudden silence put carolina further on edge. her back was pressed against a wall... or maybe a ledge? she didn’t know. she didn’t know anything other than the fact that she was sure she would be dying tonight. considering her outbursts at the kidnappers, she was confident there would be no peaceful end for her here. realizing she was the only one left in the room, she brought her knees to her chest, eyes still covered. she didn’t dare say a word as she heard a remaining source of footsteps nearby. 

Takahiro sighed to himself as he watched everyone enjoying himself. In theory, he thought it would be a good way to socialize. However, being here made him feel more lonely then before. The drink on his table snapped him out of his reverie. Takahiro glanced at it confused.  He looked quickly at the person next to him. “Sorry to ask but by any chance did you get a drink without ordering it?” 

libby giggled. she looked at the drink, then at takahiro. “maybe i’m a telepath!” the night had only just begun, and she was already rosy cheeked and close to hiccuping. she set down her empty cup and picked up the new drink, bringing it up to her nose to give it a sniff. “oof, that’s a strong one.” it wasn’t like any other drink she had seen before, but she supposed those were the colors the bar added for the holiday. “it’s not yours?”

Takahiro sighed to himself as he watched everyone enjoying himself. In theory, he thought it would be a good way to socialize. However, being here made him feel more lonely then before. Takahiro glanced at it confused.  He looked quickly at the person next to him. “Sorry to ask but by any chance did you get a drink without ordering it?” 

matei shook his head and furrowed his brow at the drink. he wasn’t normally one for social outings, but he had been convinced by the persistence of his friends. “i don’t drink. i assumed that one was yours?” he bit the inside of his cheek before glancing behind the bar, realizing the tender had already walked down to the opposite end. “shall i wave them back to get rid of it?”

     “it might as well be classy, yes,” as classy as a bar could actually get, that is. “but, it is purely based off of one’s taste. it tends to differ from person to person. you would have to wait and see everything for yourself, that is for sure…” hyejin mentioned as an afterthought; she wouldn’t want to make the other expect so much only end up being disappointed. someone’s favourite place might be other’s worst hole in the wall, after all. “— charm, charisma, confidence… take your pick,” the risen witch replied, letting a somewhat playful smile paint a pretty clear picture on her features, “i pride myself in owning my greatest virtues and making them stand out to the best of my ability – why hide them, when i can make a lasting impression on someone, right ??”

bella rose a brow at the other woman, enjoying the sly attitude. it was refreshing to see in such a small town. her father assumed she was here to retrieve carina--- of course, that didn’t mean she had to be bored doing it. “you’re my kind of gal.” without prompt, she began stepping forward, looping her arm into the stranger’s and gently tugging. “take me to this bar, yeah? we can get to know each other better over drinks.”

“Hold on.” Takahiro said doing a double take. That was unexpected to hear. “Are you implied people are bitter because of your presence or because they choose to sad?”

“they’re bitter because my presence makes them remember how sad theirs is. so... both.” she smiled at him, taking another sip of her iced coffee. “i should start giving lessons on how to be perfect.”

    “oh you’re no-” a hand flies to her head, covering her eyes from the winter sunlight. “sorry. from a distance you looked like my daughter.” nora admits with a rueful laugh. “but you’re definitely not her. i suppose that’s what i get for leaving my glasses at home.”

“glasses are important.” she abruptly stood up and dusted herself off, taking a better look at the woman. “who knows, i mean--- i could be your daughter. switched at birth and all that.”

mia glanced at the drink, then at the man. she rose a brow at him and shrugged. valentine’s day wasn’t something she always celebrated, mainly because she hardly ever had a partner to do so with, but drinks were drinks. the bar was lively, the music was nice, and there was likely to be a number of lonely girls mia could choose to go home with. “most of the drinks i’ve ever had were ordered by someone else, so...dunno. i might be tipsy enough to have just forgotten i ordered this one.”
