I want to vote for a candidate who is all about the issues. What are YOU going to do about making sure Ralph Jizzerson doesn't get shoved into any more lockers?
You’ve come to the right place. Wanna know why? I too am a victim of Mister Jizzerson. I know that might sound surprising. Who would want to shove me, Nathan F. Klopman, into lockers? (As it turns out, a lot of people, but let’s just skip over that little tidbit for now). I understand how you must feel - and, in fact, how much it hurts. On, like, a spiritual and physical level. Ralph has to be stopped. That is a given. That is our right.
The easiest answer would be to have him suspended. I mean, his actions certain contravene the school anti-bullying code, and I would argue spits in the face of our principal and her zero tolerance policy. A policy that, I must add, will be fine-tuned once I am elected, on account of the fact it’s not strict enough. People like Mister Jizzerson are a menace to our school hallways. To our freedom. It’s not good enough, and it should be fixed.
But we can’t just suspend people. That would make us as bad as those like Ralph, who are cruel, thoughtless, immature, and even violent young offenders, lurking places purported to be safe, preying on the weak and vulnerable in our society. I propose a new hall monitoring program. While it is true we are already criminally - criminally, I say - underfunded, we must take action, and if that means cutting back, say, the sports ball programs at this institution, then we simply must do so.
Thank you.
Who taped Kyle Keepler's buns together? Was it you?
First of all, Kyle is an idiot. Whoever says they can ignite their own farts powerfully enough to render their butthole a flamethrower is stupid. Also, gross. Kyle is stupid and gross. Second, whether I was in the locker room at the time of said bun-taping is totally conjecture, and I refute that on the grounds that I am an innocent bystander who has zero interest in what Kyle farts-a-lot Keepler does in his spare time. Which, apparently, involves lighting his butt on fire. So, no. I didn’t tape his buns together.
I superglued them.

Name: Nathan F. Klopman Species: Human (Spellcaster) Occupation: Student Age: 18 Years Old Played By: Vee Face Claim: Louis Hynes
“Vote Nathan F. Klopman 4 Class President!”
Nathan was born an only child - and everyone can tell. Even as a boy he was exuberant, inquisitive, nosy, always inserting himself into situations that did not, at all, in fact, involve him, and freely offering his views. His parents were both high achievers that worked hard, hard enough that Nathan was largely raised by his aunt, the wife of a rabbi, who was fearless and had no qualms about tempering her nephew’s boisterous behaviour. With her he indulged his insatiable consumption of knowledge, devouring books and papers, and often engaging in spirited debates despite his young age. Despite herself, she indulged him, and in time Nathan thought of her as his mother. Nathan’s family moved to White Crest when he was ten years old, and that was when things got truly interesting.
Nathan knew about magic. Well, he’d Googled enough about magic to get an idea of what it was. And so, when puberty reared its ugly head, Nathan was somewhat prepared. It was alright, being a clever perfectionist with a perfect academic record, but it wasn’t exactly exciting, was it? Nathan was, really, rather boring when it came down to brass tacks. He liked old arcade games and going on meandering walks in the surrounding woods; he watched the X-Files and collected comic books. He rode his bike for hours around their neighborhood, poking his nose over fences, a pair of binoculars swinging around his neck. His was a lonesome life that all obnoxious pre-pubescents lead, as, to the surprise of no one, he was hardly popular. In fact, Nathan was decidedly unpopular, with his peers often tripping him up, pushing him into lockers, and in general acting as daily reminders that humans were more closely related to apes than any other species. His enthusiasm for school painted a target on his back (and when he got into the theater group - jeez). Was it any wonder that he became a little obsessed with the idea of escape, with disappearing or becoming someone else entirely? So, the morning of his thirteenth birthday, when he discovered a hair that might one day become a moustache, he also happened to summon his father’s razor from across the bathroom. After he’d yelped and ducked, the razor bouncing off the mirror and clattering to the floor, Nathan’s first thought was, I’m never growing a moustache, ever! And then, Wait, did that thing just fly through the air?
The years that followed were pretty exciting. Well, they were exciting in that Nathan realised he could make things move without touching them and could light candles by clicking his fingers, but they were also exciting in that he’d never had so many brushes with death in his life. As it turns out, magic is very unpredictable, and when you’re a feverish teenager with a mind that goes a thousand miles an hour, all kinds of things can happen. Until he was sixteen, Nathan lived in daily fear. Then, quite suddenly, the dust settled. His parents had grown used to their only child dropping things, falling over, and accruing all manner of scrapes and scars, and when he grew out of his klutzy phase, they attributed it to him finally growing up. In a way, they were right. Nathan figured early on that it’d be best to keep his newfound talents to himself. They were confusing enough without everyone knowing, but it did exacerbate his loneliness. Nathan grew up alone, but being almost a senior and having no friends was quite hard. He didn’t like the idea of being dependent on other people - shaking off the torment his peers had inflicted didn’t come easy, put it that way - but facts were facts. He was smart, funny, interesting. Nathan deserved friends. More importantly, his powers promised that he had something special to share with the world.
The position of Class President was fabled at White Crest High. Every year the role went to someone who exemplified the school’s virtues: leadership, diplomacy… Whatever, just a bunch of feel-good stuff, right? Nathan could do that. He could shake people’s hands and enact change. He certainly had more than enough ideas and insight into his classmates to know what they really needed. And so, Nathan started his campaign. He didn’t expect life to imitate art, but it turns out Napoleon Dynamite is pretty accurate. The thing is, campaigning when you’re trying to keep your grades up, to shake the reputation you’ve had since middle school, and figure out how not to make the Bunsen burners in class spontaneously combust, is a difficult feat. But if there’s anything you should know about Nathan, it’s this: he loves a challenge.
Nathan has just entered his senior year of high school. And his time as Class President will come.
Character Facts:
Personality: Quick-witted, inquisitive, open-minded, outgoing, brave, self-interested, dramatic, obsessive, petty, childish, bossy
He can’t remember what his middle name is. Every time he remembers he’s forgotten, he makes a mental note to check his birth certificate, then promptly forgets again. This doesn’t stop him signing his name Nathan F. Klopman, and if anyone asks (they don’t) he makes it up.
Nathan is best at summoning objects, which is useful considering how lazy he can be. Usually he’ll have books or pens flying through the air - cups of tea, it turns out, are a little more risky.
Nathan isn’t an especially observant Jew, but that has more to do with being a self-involved teenager than any discrepancy he has with faith. All he’ll say is that his bar mitzvah was possibly among the most traumatic events in his life.
He is still close to his aunt despite living far apart. They Skype quite regularly. Nathan hasn’t told her about his powers, but he does ask her questions about magic in the context of Judaism. Whenever she asks why he’s so interested in something obscure, he lies about it.
Nathan has just figured out he might not be exactly straight. Despite being fairly confident in most areas of his life, dating is something he has no clue about, and he goes to some lengths to avoid the subject.
Nathan has worked hard to revitalize his image since entering senior year. He reaches out to people, posts comments on their social media feeds, turns up to school and town events, and generally acts more like he’s running for mayor than just Class President. No one can say his latest obsession isn’t going well: in fact, he just might pull this whole thing off.

i love this kid
Ugh. High school. It totally sucks. And it’s crowded. About 2,000 miserable souls pile into White Crest High School five days out of the week to listen to boring teachers, eat disgusting (and slightly terrifying) food, and try to survive. It’s arguably more dangerous than vampires.
The mascot is the Fighting Housecat. Really. There have been several petitions to change it, but for some reason the superintendent would sooner die than cave to the social pressure.
The principal is Sally Henderson. It’s unclear whether she believes there’s something odd about White Crest or not – she seems to be awfully quick to come up with excuses. But that makes some suspect she actually knows more than she lets on.
They have a bit of a rat problem. Some students have reported that the rats are able to phase through walls.
Some kids are actually residents of the neighboring towns, Derry and Castle Rock; the populations there are too small to sustain their own high school.
Because of White Crest’s high death rate, it’s customary to end each school year with a memorial service for all of those students who died throughout the year.
NAME: Spellcaster
ALSO KNOWN AS: Witch, magician, sorcerer, wizard, warlock
RARITY: ★★☆☆☆
DESCRIPTION: Spellcasters are human practitioners of magic. They possess the power to affect change by magical means. They do so by connecting with the elements and forces of nature, in order to practice sorcery. While many people can do simple magic given enough research and practice, casters have greater knowledge and power over harnessing mystical forces. There is a genetic basis to this, but there are many exceptions. Families that have been practicing magic for centuries sometimes claim to have a supernatural ancestor, whose blood still flows in their veins. They often insist that it’s the only way someone could truly have magic themselves. However, the many casters born to non-magic parents disprove this. Some casters live or practice in groups called covens, which can have strict rules regarding which forms of magic can and cannot be done. Many of these groups forbid the use of ‘forbidden magic’, though the things that fall under that umbrella can vary from coven to coven.
ABILITIES: The limits of magic are almost non-existent and many claim that they are only set by the limits of the caster’s imagination. Most humans can perform simple spells with a bit of focus and the proper tools. To those with a bit of experience, the possibilities only continue to grow. These spells can range from turning on a light across a room, to creating an immense storm from clear skies, to divining the future from an odd bit of cheese. Casters generally find that their personal magic is more suited toward one or another school of magic and tend to call that their ‘focus’. Magic is also greatly enhanced by a ‘focal point’, or an object of particular significance to the caster that greatly improves the effect of their spells and lessens the possible damages to their person. In addition, the more casters taking part in a spell, the more powerful and effective it will be.
LIMITS & RISKS: Despite their amazing abilities, casters still have limits which prevent them from being truly invincible. For a novice, and in many cases even an adept caster, tapping into volatile and powerful magics can be particularly dangerous. Any caster worth their salt knows that all magic comes at a price and that even small spells are capable of backfiring. Some think of magic as being a bit like a muscle. Unless they take a break, even the most powerful caster will quickly be worn down by the effort of hurling spell after spell. Prudent casters would merely rest until their powers resurfaced, while more reckless casters can search for a new source of power. It’s not unheard of for casters to even become addicted to the feeling of channeling magic, particularly more dangerous and intense spells. Most are well aware that, once a caster begins dipping their toes into that sort of magic, it’s only a matter of time before something goes wrong.
SCHOOLS OF MAGIC: There are several different categories that spells fall into, and most individuals specialize in only one or two of them (they may be able to do basic spells in others). There is some overlap. Different cultures may have different takes on things.
Alchemy: The ability to combine several objects to make a different object. The objects used must equal the mass of the desired object. And yes, an alchemist is capable of making gold, but it’s frowned upon to use alchemy as a means to acquire wealth. This is one of the hardest classes of magic, and people who specialize in it are known as alchemists.
Blood Magic: Dangerous magic that involves the use of blood (or “life force”). Many of these spells are risky and a practitioner really has to know what they’re doing. Despite the danger, blood magic can be invaluable in a tight spot. There is a stigma around magic-practitioners who specialize in this form of magic.
Elemental Magic: Magic that utilizes the elements (fire, earth, air, water) and gives the magician a degree of control over them. It takes decades of practice to completely master an element, and it is only possible for each magic practitioner to have an affinity with one element. They do not choose which one; it is based on their personality and genetics. Typically a practitioner of elemental magic will only know elemental magic, save for some simple spells. It can be uncontrollable if the elemental doesn’t know exactly what they’re doing, or doesn’t have their full wits about them.
Divination: The use of magic to predict the future. This can take any number of forms, many cultures and covens having their own favored way of practicing it. It is not always the most precise form of magic, but those who practice it stand by it wholeheartedly.
Mental Magic: Magic that affects the mental states, perceptions, and feelings of others. People who specialize in this usually have little regard for others, and these spells can often go wrong or backfire. However, they are relatively easy to do and don’t require serious sacrifices.
Necromancy: The ability to reanimate corpses and, in the case of the experienced necromancer, control and manipulate the undead. Necromancy is a subfield of blood magic and is considered incredibly dangerous. Necromancers can only control corpses that they themselves brought back.
Summoning: The ability to summon a creature or apparition. Usually it will obey the summoner’s commands, but if they’re not powerful enough to keep control over the creature or apparition, things can get dangerous.
WEAKNESS: When a caster is sick, injured, or in a poor mental state they may lose control of some of their magic or have greater difficulty in performing spells. There are also certain spells and materials that can prevent a practitioner from succeeding in their intended spell. Like other humans, they are susceptible to normal injury and do not have accelerated healing by default. Of course, certain spells also require serious harm to come to the user, so that is also a danger. A caster who doubts their own abilities may self-sabotage themselves into failing. And as stated above, all magic comes at a price, and those who are unaware of just what a spell costs may find themselves paying in very unpleasant ways.
NOTES: While “witch” and “wizard” are two of the most common titles for spellcasters, they choose their own label, and while many insist that there are significant differences between them, that isn’t really the case.
ORIGIN: While magic can shatter the laws of physics, it does have limitations of its own. It is speculated that these limits come down to the physical limits of the people casting it, as opposed to magic actually being limited, and there are people who dedicate their whole lives to trying to break the laws that have been discovered. However, unlike the laws of physics, trying to bypass these laws can potentially be deadly. Or worse.
Some laws in the past have been discovered to not have been true at all, just that no one had ever succeeded. An example would be turning objects to gold.
SOME OF THE LAWS:
Information cannot be magicked into existence: You can’t magick a book to fill with the exact details of how the universe began. It can, however, be duplicated, from one book to another, or even from a mind onto a document. The latter is a terrible idea due to the fragmental and non linear nature of thoughts, and so is almost never used.
Magicks are other forms of energy, and so can neither be created nor destroyed, only converted from one form to another. It exists freely throughout the universe, which is why some people who aren’t witches or warlocks/magical species can sometimes do magic, but witches/warlocks and magical species are able to create magical energy from other forms of energy, and store magic inside themselves.
Life cannot be created. It can only be transferred from one being to another. See Necromancy.
Likewise, spirits and souls cannot be created. It is, however, possible to destroy them, which raises questions as to how they come into being.
The stronger the emotion towards the object of the spell, whether it’s a person or an element, the stronger the spell itself. However, the emotion doesn’t have to match the intent of the spell - a curse done with unconditional love is just as powerful as one done with unadulterated loathing.
However, the more powerful the spell, the harder it is to control. This is why people practicing mental magic and similarly intricate magic have to detach their feelings and concentrate so fully: you want a scalpel, not a chain saw, when it comes to enchanting the mind
Conversely, the more self aware the caster is of their entire selves and their feelings in the moment, the more control they have over each spell. No one knows why the power of magic is so dependent on the caster’s emotional state, but it’s a subject that’s currently deeply under investigation by magical scholars.
