I think Sun and Doma make interesting parallels. Sun starts the manga idolizing Agni, a man constantly ablaze and seeing him as Literally God, surviving in his name and spreading his "gospel" and eventually, killing people who he feels are unworthy of his lord. But as the audience, we know the truth is Agni is incredibly mentally broken and in constant pain, yet won't allow himself to die. Doma starts his career as someone who looked to the sky and saw who those in power deemed to be God. Someone who was constantly ablaze. He kills in the name of this "god", including setting Agni and his entire village alight with his blessing. And then he learns the truth and identity of his god, that it was all just a movie from before the world froze over. A movie that was critically panned, and it's main actor a terrible person. It feels like the Sun we see at the end of the manga is an echo of the Doma we see at the very start. I wonder, had Sun lived, and he found the truth of what Agni was actually like. Would he be just as disgusted as Doma was when he learned that his "god" was an abusive monster? And Doma, he ended up creating not only his own downfall when he torched Agni's village, but he also created a successor. By burning Agni, he in a way recreated the very god he worshiped, and that god found a devout follower willing to kill for them.
