Xavier is an 8-year-old Staffordshire mix and my ESA (Emotional Support Animal). I’ve been with him since he was born and have done all his training. He has his CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certificate and is halfway through the hours required to be a service dog. His favorite color is blue and his favorite toy(s) is any long armed monkey plush.

He’s been healthy his whole life (save for an occasional ear infection) but in March he started showing concerning symptoms. His skin started scabbing up and coming off, taking the fur with it. Our vet thought it was allergies and then possibly an immune disease. Went to a specialist who thought it might be something to do with his liver.

I am an autistic transman living independently and Xavier has seen me through the worst parts of my struggle. Alone, I do not have the funds to do any further testing to find out what’s wrong and treat it. It took my last three paychecks to see the specialist and get bloodwork done. That’s why we’re asking for help.

Currently we’re trying to get a skin biopsy done. That’s $500. We’re hoping after that, we’ll be able to narrow down exactly what’s wrong with Xavier and treat him accordingly. Any help, even spreading the word, would be most appreciative. Thank you.

6/14/2018 A huge thank you to all the people who have shared the original post about Xavier. We’re making progress but still have a ways to go! We’re moving our base of operations to Paypal’s Money Pool, since it doesn’t charge a fee.
