Bio: (tw - death)
Maggie was the firstborn to Lieutenant Dan Walker and MAA K9 handler Terri Walker on a Navy base in Washington state.
The Walkers raised their children to be respectful, self-disciplined human beings. Maggie knew from a young age that she wanted to join a branch of the military. So when a recruiter came to talk with her senior class, she was first in line. At 18 she moved to Illinois for boot camp. By 26 Maggie had completed her undergraduate degree, gone through Hospital Corps school, and the necessary field medical training to become a Navy Corpsman.
She met her husband, Ryker Payne on her first real overseas tour. The following year they were exclusively/long distance dating, and got married the year after that. In 2001 the Paynes were both deployed to Iraq, where they met and became friends with Christian Hamilton.
All three of them were set to go on the mission that would kill her husband and change their best friend, but Maggie had found out she was pregnant a few weeks before and had orders to prepare to go home. 4 months later it was confirmed that Ryker had died and Christian was MIA, probably also dead. Maggie griefed two lives while growing another. Her parents brought her along on their retirement scouting trip, and she decided Turtle Bay was going to be her home moving forward. A salty sea, fresh start.
MacKenzie Ryker Payne was born February 17th 2002, an almost perfect mix of her parents. Though Maggie had always been pleased with the little bit of extra Ryker that their daughter had inherited.
23 years later, the Paynes still call Turtle Bay home. Maggie hadn't reinlisted and waited until MacKenzie was 13 before getting a surgical position at Memorial Hospital.

Jasmine Henderson ( @ofwildxhearts )
Jasmine's place after a day at the Festival
Maggie had slipped her shoes off, watching Jasmine carry a sleeping Peter to his bed. She smiled and walked into the living room, sitting down on the couch. The soft squeak of a floorboard shifted her attention from an email to Jasmine's presence. Maggie's forehead relaxed and concentration melted off her face. "That's how you know they had a good time."
She shifted, eyes narrowing when she saw something in Jasmine's hair reflect light. "Hold on. You've got," Maggie pinched a strand of her hair between her fingers and smiled. "Glitter." She brushed it onto her shirt, moving back to tuck the hair behind Jasmine's ear. "TAKE THE RISK", her inner voice shouted. Maggie leaned in, tucking Jasmine's hair behind her ear and pressing her lips against hers.
"Not allergic to nuts, thankfully." He said to her as he looked at the blonde woman and then smiled softly and then looked back at the freezer that had all of the ice cream in it. "I feel like mint chip might be a good idea honestly. I haven't had mint in a long time and It's not something that I enjoy often." He replied to the woman and then laughed softly.
"That's good," Maggie smiled and shifted with the few others in line, "then I am definitely going to recommend stopping by Nellie's and grabbing some Baklava."
Watching her pull out her phone, Mackenzie was glad that her mother didn't push on her avoiding her homework. "Hmm...want me to check Netflix and see what is on there?" She questioned, smiling. Sure that she could find a good one on there.
Maggie put in an order to their favorite restaurant, and nodded. "Sounds like a plan." She walked into the living room and dropped down onto the couch. "Is there a specific reason you are avoiding Psychology?"

starter for @maggiexpayne
Location: Outside the Hospital
"Forgive me, I did zoned out a bit and did not mean to be in the way," he spoke not realizing he had stopped right in the middle of the entrance. The male moved away and sighed. Hospitals were hard for Rhett and he hated them. He had only showed up because of a normal check up. "You are one of the doctors correct?"
Maggie smiled, her shoulder lifting in a shrug. "There are way more dangerous places to zone out." She shifted a bit as others walked in and out of the entrance. At the man's question, Maggie nodded. "I am. How can I help you?"
Starter for: Tobias & Open @turtlebay-starters
Location: Polar Cave
As Tobias had walked up towards the counter at Polar Cave, he was trying to decide what he should get but there were so many options to choose from. He realized that someone had walked up behind him and Tobias decided to turn around and speak to them while asking for their opinion. "I'm sorry, but what do you think you're going to get? I don't know what I'm going to order and I would love a suggestion."
Maggie waved at an employee behind the counter before looking between the menu board and the glass case labels. When she heard the question, she smiled. "Normally yes. Mint chip, but I might try a sample of buttered pecan. - Are you allergic to nuts? That thins the options a bit."
"Trust me, I understand that." Jasmine chuckled lightly, shaking her head a little bit. "But I am really glad that you decided to come with us." There was a grin on her lips now. "What? You don't trust me to not make you something you won't like? Or you just don't like surprises?" She questioned with a smile on her lips. "You can trust me, completely. Haven't you ever taken a risk?"
Tucking one leg underneath her, Maggie shrugged. "I trust you with my life. That's a no-brainer!" Her smile softened, "food is an interesting topic. The only two things I won't touch again are chili and dehydrated fruit." Maggie laughed and shook her head. "And it depends when it comes to surprises." Haven't you ever taken a risk? Her gaze dropped to her lap while her head bobbed up and down. "Risks used to be my thing. It's been years."
Seeing her mom come down the stairs, she smiled over at her for a moment. Hugging her back once she was pulled into a hug. Pulling away slightly. "Good, I was hoping you would say that." Hell, she was glad that the older woman was home. "Currently I am procrastinating my assignment in Psychology." Even though she was passing that class with flying colors. It might had something to do with the professor or maybe it was because Mackenzie was just really good at that class.
As Maggie pulled her phone out of her back pocket and opened DoorDash, she clicked her tongue. "Comedy it is! Nothing that requires heavy thought." She teased with a smile. "What sounds good?"

"Thanks for coming out with me today. I know it's rare that we have days off at the same time. So I'm glad that we do." Which was true, Jasmine smiled over at her for a moment. "I'm going to make dinner tonight for us and little man. No arguments." Looking over at her son, before back at her.
Maggie shaded her eyes, smiling back at Jasmine. The weather was nice and she had planned to go running at some point; relaxing in the grass was just as good for a vitamin D fix. "Thank you for inviting me. Me too, this is my first off after four weeks of 10s." Her eyes widened with her smile. "Umm, I need to know what you're making first!" Maggie teased.
The weather outside was beautiful and Bradley was certainly going to take this opportunity to catch some sun while it was out. With the days getting longer, Bradley was able to enjoy more time outside in the evening. He was walking along the shoreline and he was kicking his feet through the sand. He knew that there were a lot of people who longed for this life and he was able to actually live it. As he was about to turn around, he saw a woman standing there and he smiled. "It's beautiful out here, isn't it?"
The beach was a big reason Maggie had moved to Turtle Bay. The sounds of the waves crashing, hitting the shoreline calming her mind much faster than an hour therapy session or too many shots of tequila. "Very." She replied with a nod and a soft smile. "Still one of my favorite places around here."
Mackenzie moved through the door, placing her bag down, she took off her jacket and hung it up. "Mom?" She questioned, grabbing her bag once again. She had some homework to do. But she didn't want to do it right at this moment. "So I'm thinking we can order some takeout and just binge watch some movies." She stated, setting her bag down in a chair now. "Mom?"
Maggie had been sitting on the edge of her bed, staring at her reflection. She had just pulled the rustic oak framed mirror from storage, like it was always supposed to be there. When she heard Mackenzie call, Maggie blinked rapidly. She hated the word hiding, and she didn't want to hide her emotions from her daughter. But there was a boundary Maggie had set when she found out she was pregnant. Plus she was paying a therapist to listen to her!
"Yeah?" Standing quickly, Maggie rubbed a hand over her face before heading down the stairs. A knowing smile formed and she pulled Kenzie in for a hug. "Absolutely. What class are you procrastinating?" She teased with a laugh.
The words echoed in her head, "we have been unable to locate anyone." Maggie's husband, and his whole team had been attacked. MIA. She was running into the medical tent before anyone could pull her into a hug. She didn't need a hug, she needed to see Ryker.
Screams pierced the dry air. Screams so high Maggie felt her eardrums vibrate, and her vision began to blur. But she kept running. She bummed harshly into a corner of an empty cart and dropped to her knees, the impact a transition.
Maggie became surrounded by flaming debris. The crackling of the fire battled the high-pitched screaming. Suddenly Ryker appeared, his uniform dark and melting around his arms and torso. He smiled at her, but it didn't reach his eyes. The screams grew louder with every step Ryker took towards Maggie, and it caused her to take the tiniest of steps backwards. Her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth, making it impossible to speak or to silence the screaming.
Ryker stopped a few feet away from her and folded his hands behind his back, "Maggie. -- I love you. I loved our life. Don't let my death keep you from being happy or finding love again. It is possible. I've watched you be strong for everyone else around only to break down in the dark alone. But that's also what is keeping you from living. Live for me, by finding that - joy again. Invest in that research project, show our daughter that the future is female and she is a badass. She gets that from both of us," Ryker noted with a chuckle. "Show her it is possible for love to change and grow, and that it's okay."
Jolting awake, Maggie clutched her chest. Her fingers curled around the rings she wore on a chain. "I love you too." She whispered into the darkness, "how do you always know when I need a visit?"
Maggie: Hey kiddo, do you have plans this weekend?
Maggie: I was thinking about planting my butt in the couch with some chocolate and cheesy movies.

Morgana shifted her weight from one foot to the other, glancing at the small pizza shop through the window. The warm scent of melted cheese and tomato sauce drifted out every time the door opened. “I hope they didn’t forget the heart-shaped ones…” she muttered under her breath, tugging her jacket tighter around her shoulders. Her fingers tapped nervously against the counter as she scanned the little line of people ahead. Any second now, she’d be carrying those little hearts home—and she could already picture the grins on everyone’s faces. "What about you? Did you get some the heart shaped pizzas?"
There was barely enough room for Maggie to get inside. The door bumping into her heel caused her to laugh softly, "not this time." She answered the other woman's question. "But it's been a while since I've had littles who enjoy the heart shape just as much as the food. - Morgana, right? What's going on at The Coffee Bean for the holiday?"
Raising her hand she knocked on the door. Waiting for Maggie to answer, the snowstorm had passed and now they were just dealing with the aftermath of everything. It had been a very busy night and all Jasmine wanted to do was go home and sleep or something. Once the door open, she put on the best smile that she could. "Hey, it was a very long night..", she stated. "I feel like I could sleep for ten hours. I even feel dead right now. There was so much that happened last night.."
Maggie pulled the blanket up around her shoulders as she stood, gaze flicking between the door and the short hall to her bedroom. She tip-toed as fast as she dared, Jasmine's boy asleep in the big bed. Smiling softly as a memory popped into her head, Maggie opened the door. Her shoulders relaxed and she pulled Jasmine inside, pointing at the fireplace as she walked into the kitchen to make tea. "Have you eaten? I'm making tea, go warm up."
