Checked out a couple nerd stores (surprisingly bland?) and finally checked into my hostel. Had to fight against taking a nap at 5pm. It was a close thing. I made the mistake of snuggling up under the blanket to test how warm it was and everything
But turns out booking a hostel literally across the road (and we’re talking tiny London roads) from a Cathedral has consequences. Namely bells chiming the hour, and all the quarters in between
Actually haven’t heard one in a while so they must have mercy at night. Currently in a pub having dinner, also not far from the hostel. Managed to drag my first cider out for half an hour before finally asking where my chips were, only for the staff to realise my order had been missed
Understandable, it’s a Friday evening and busy as fuck. But they were kind enough to give me a second cider on the house. And of course the staff member helping me is hot. Which reminds me that even if I didn’t have moral opposition to hitting on wait/bar staff (it’s not like they can walk away), I’m not actually any good at flirting
So now I’m just pleasantly buzzed and debating if I get a third, a cocktail to round it off, or just call it a night (spoiler alert, I had a third cider and unfortunately left while the bartender was in the back so I didn’t get a last look)
I am exhausted. But have I had enough to carry me through a shower and falling asleep in a foreign environment on a thin ass mattress? Jury is still out. Still adjusting to this whole hostel thing. Not my preferred accommodations, but about all my budget can justify
Was contemplating AirBnB for a bit, strictly rooms that are a part of the owners home. But it still felt like contributing everyone’s housing crisis’
