In celebration of Legendborn's collector edition coming out this week, please enjoy this amazing art by Jess/ dalooch_ or loochleftovers on ig
This scene is from chapter 8 where Bree tracks Nick down in his Genetics 201 class. Their dynamic even this early on! I love it!
Characters belong to Tracy Deonn and are from The Legendborn Cycle Series
till death do us part
(wenvier corpse bride au)
βWith this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine.β Xavier mock-bows
With this candle, I will light your way in darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.β
Xavier slides the ring onto a branch and sighs in resignation.Β
He wonβt ever please his father, no matter what he does, so the least he can do is give Enid Sinclair the respect and ceremony she deserves. They were both forced into this political alliance. He wouldnβt make a genuinely good soul like her suffer as he has.
Xavier brushes his hand underneath the thin branch, as if he were lifting Enidβs hand, imagining wedding bells faintly ringing in the wind. Looks at the golden ring that holds more history than he could ever be worth.
Seemingly out of nowhere, white flashes blink in his peripheral.Β
Furrowing his brows, he leans down and swipes at the snow a little to the right of where he kneels. Heβs surprised to find a lightly rusted dagger buried amongst the ice, dew, and vines. Other than the melted ice that caused a layer of bronzed decay, it looks to be in perfect condition. Unscathed and unused.
He cautiously picks it up and starts untangling it from the tendrils and twigs. Until the twigs move and twist around the hilt. He drops it in shock, scrambling back on his cold, bare hands. The blade raises with the vines and sticks, and Xavier realizes theyβre gripping the dagger.Β
His heartbeat pounds in his ears and he can only watch as the pale sticksβno, bonesβclaw at the snow. The earth starts to crack in front of him, and a ghostly hand emerges from the ground. He canβt think, canβt process, canβt comprehend what is happening. The worry of disappointing Enid is suddenly a small thing, because how can he disappoint her if heβs dead by sunrise, by whatever horrific monster heβd sworn had been a figment of his twisted imagination, merely a drawing on a page?
A shadow in the night, he can make out the silhouette of a woman in a dress, black as coal. A long veil of ripped tulle catches rays of light, illuminating the head of the unearthly being. One hand fists the aged dagger, the other slowly pulls the wispy veil back, and Xavier forgets everything but the woman in black, stark against the white of the moon. She is the most beautiful creature he has ever seen.
Her bone-exposed hand lifts, and it isn't until he is blinded by a glint of moonlight that he realizes her silver dagger is poised for his heart.Β
He rolls quickly out of the way, eyes wide in shock and fear. She moves as silently as the slain, the only sound a whistle of the dagger as it flies through the air and hits the spot where he had just been.
The woman looks up from the pile of snow she plunged her blade into.Β
βI do,β she rasps. Her voice is withered, as if decades of rot disallowed speaking. As sharp as the weapon she wields, cutting into his fear and slicing the silence until all thatβs left is her cold, dead presence. Chilling shivers crawl down his spine.Β
βAnd for that, you will pay.β She lunges.

Xavier Thorpe Is Not Gone β Heβs Benched (And Here's Why Season 3 Might Bring Him Back)
In Season 2 Episode 1, Xavier still sends Wednesday a letter (which Enid ends up reading):
"I tried texting but I guess you lost the phone I gave you. Consider this my goodbye gift. The image suddenly flashed in my head. Don't ask me how I know or what it means, but it's connected to you, I'm sure. Who's Wednesday Addams without a mystery to solve, right?" βXavier
(The painting Xavier gave Wednesday)
And then, to explain Xavierβs sudden absence from Nevermore, Principal Dort (played by Steve Buscemi) tells Wednesday:
βHeβs heading to Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland.β
LMAO this line screams βcop-out excuseβ.
Itβs a generic, non-committal way to:
1. Temporarily remove him.
2. Avoid backlash.
3. Keep the door slightly open.
If the writers had no plans to bring him back, why not just kill him off? Or make him vanish mysteriously?
But nope. They sent him far away⦠yet kept him alive.
Itβs the classic βpark the character safelyβ technique.
The worst part? In Season 2, Wednesday throws her phone into an acid bathtub.
And sure, we Percy stans tried to justify it like, βOh, she hates technology anyway, so maybe itβs just that.β But then againβ¦ why did she even accept the phone from Xavier in Season 1 in the first place?? She looked kinda touched when he gave it to her. She didnβt even throw it away back then.
So yeahβ¦ somethingβs not adding up.
Honestly, it kinda feels like Season 2 suddenly turned into the Enid Sinclair Showβ’. Like?? Wednesday has visions and now she wants to protect Enidβ¦ then Enidβs caught in a love triangle? Huh?
Now Iβm wonderingβ¦ is all of this a domino effect caused by Xavierβs limited presence in Season 2, or was this always the original direction for the plot?
Because if Percy Hynes White was still fully involvedβ¦ I feel like the vibe wouldβve been very different. The emotional weight. The dynamics. The tension. Everything.
That βweird redirectβ Jenna Ortega mentioned?
Itβs the writers desperately trying to patch a hole they didnβt know how to fix.
So, will he come back in Season 3?
POSSIBLE? YES.
Because:
1. Heβs not dead.
2. He still has utility in the plot.
3. His fanbase isnβt small.
4. The writers know fans see his character as a loose thread.
PROBABLE?
Letβs say... 50-50.
Why?
Pros:
If Season 2 flops, theyβll NEED old characters to revive interest.
If Percy is βcleanβ from cancel culture, maybe Netflix will reconsider.
Cons:
Netflix might want to play it safe.
The showβs direction has already drifted too far from the original arc.
For now, everything feels like a mix of fanfic AUs and backup plans.
Enid had always struggled with sharing.
Territorial was part of the werewolf package, but when she had her sights on something, she vowed no matter the cost it would be hers. Sheβd like to think sheβs grown out of that mindset. After all, βsharing is caring.β
But as she straddles Tylerβs body to the ground, catching his hands in hers and pinning them above his head, she thinks maybe thereβs some truth to βfinders-keepers.β
βSinclair,β he growls. His quick and heavy breaths pound in her ears, his chest rising and falling in rapid cadence with hers.
She knows sheβs affecting him in some way and itβs addicting, to know she can make him react. Her skin burns where they touch as she presses further into him, fabric between them be damned. He's all she can feel, and she doesnβt want to move.
She finds herself moving towards his neck, muscles taut with restrain, and places a kiss on his clavicle. Up, up, behind his ear. His breath hitches.
βSomeoneβs got to make a move, Tyler,β she whispers. A low rumble reverberates in his throat at the sound of his name. She leans back just enough to capture his eyes in hers. She hadnβt noticed how thick his lashes were or how the brown of his irises mixed with green and gold. She canβt look away.
Tylerβs lips part. βWe have to be somewhere right now,β he forces out. His leg rising to meet her in between says otherwise. It makes her dizzy with confidence andβ¦want.
She dips down, a ghost of a breath away from him. βWe canβt work together if we donβt releaseββ
His mouth forcefully collides with hers and she slots her lips to let him in.
Finally.
Woe to Thee Who Called Nevermore Home
Xavier Thorpeβs absence lingers in the halls of Nevermore High like a spectre bound to the place they once called home.Β
The raven mural was covered the day after Vincent Thorpe pulled him from school. Wednesday finds herself staring at it with a furrow in her brow as a myriad of complex emotions burn through her veins.Β
Whispers of his name are permanently etched in the walls as several students ask the same question. βWhat happened?β
Wednesday leans forward, inspecting the once beautiful mural, now covered in a muted shade of grey. The paint hasnβt fully dried, yet she finds herself tearing a piece of fabric off her skirt and wiping away a small spot in the middle. An eye as dark as the onyx stone stares back at her, and a chill slices down her body, freezing her in place as her vision is consumed with multiple ravens surrounding the artist of the mural. Xavierβs face burns in her mind as the overwhelming sense of danger pulses in her.
β...nesdayβ¦.Wednesdayβ¦.WEDNESDAY!βΒ
Wednesday jolts out of the vision to see Ajax Petropolus towering over her with his hand over her shoulder, close but not touching.
βAre you okay, Wednesday?β He asks, a little shaken and uncertain how to proceed. Heβs never seen Wednesday in the middle of having a vision before. Enid always told him they wereβ¦a spectacle, but Ajax wouldnβt have guessed it would look painful. However, he supposes that Wednesday wouldnβt mind the pain. But the vacant look in her eye and the slightest tremor of her hand suggest otherwise.Β
Wednesday blinks, straightening her spine before meeting Ajaxβs gaze. βIβm fine.β
Ajax ponders for a moment, unsure of whether or not to take her at her word, but he doesnβt want to risk losing a fingerβ¦or ten, so he leaves it and turns toward the covered-up mural.
βItβs strange without him here, isnβt it.β Ajax doesnβt phrase it like a question, and Wednesday finds herself grateful.Β
She grips the strap of her bag and lets out a noncommittal noise. Her eyes find the ravenβs again, and her fingers twitch with the urge to wipe away the rest of the paint before itβs completely dried.Β
βWhat happened, Wednesday? And donβt give me the same crap Weems gave all of us. You were the one closest to Xavier before he left.β
Wednesday bristles as she remembers Weems non-explicit farewell for Xavier. No details. No time frame. Just: βIβm sorry to announce that Xavier Thorpe will not be finishing the semester with us. Heβll be off enlightening fellow outcasts at a much higher renowned school, and itβll be an insult to his memory if we donβt finish these last couple of months strong.β
That was two days ago. Wednesday hasnβt had a chance to recover from the Crackstone incident. Her shoulder still burns every time Xavierβs name is said.Β
Wednesday pulls out the phone Xavier gifted her with two fingers, holding it on either side like it is covered in toxin. Truthfully, she never planned on texting him first, or at all, but after Weems made her announcement, Wednesday found herself struggling with the sense that something was wrong. That Weems was lying. Ever since what happened with Tyler, Wednesday vowed never to ignore her instincts again.Β
So that's why her first, and only text, was to Xavier Thorpe with a simple phrase. βWhere are you.β
Not a question, not just a mere sentence. A demand.Β
She nearly threw the phone across the room when the message immediately read as βundeliveredβ in that stupid red text with an exclamation point, taunting her. Even Wednesday Addams can be bested by modern technology.Β
Wednesday opens the message and shows Ajax. He sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. The snakes under his beanie let out multiple hisses, sensing his distress.Β
βDamnit,β Ajax curses, and Wednesday tucks the phone in her pocket.Β
βYou know something,β Wednesday says, taking a step forward.Β
βI tried calling him, and it kept going straight to voicemail. I figured something major had happened, and I didnβt want to add to it, so I decided to leave him be. I was planning on calling him again later, but now I know that wonβt matter.β
βWhat arenβt you telling me, Ajax?β
βXavierβs father pulled him out of school, but it seems like heβs willing to disconnect Xavier from his life here, which is why Iβm asking you again, Wednesday, what happened?β
Wednesday takes a deep breath and wonders momentarily why Enid hasnβt informed Ajax of the details of her battle with Crackstone. But ever since Enidβs fight with Tyler in his Hyde form, something has shifted within her. She still puts on that annoyingly bright smile and dances around their room until the early hours of the morning, but thereβs a tension there that wasnβt present before.
But Wednesday is tired. And Enid Sinclairβs newest drama is low on the list of Wednesdayβs priorities. So, she never asks. She figures Enid would yap about it one day during Wednesdayβs designated writing hour, so every time she sits at her typewriter, she always puts plugs in her ears now.Β
βDo you remember the fight Enid had with that big monster?β Wednesday asks slowly, searching Ajaxβs face for signs of recognition.
Ajax nods, rubbing the back of his neck and breaks eye contact. Wednesday makes note of that for later.
βBefore that, I accidentally framed Xavier as the one behind the murdersββ Ajax lets out a squeak, but Wednesday puts her hand up, silencing him. βHowever, I realised soon after that I had been mistaken and went back to the jail to free him. Eventually, the real culprit was caught, and Xavier was freed,β she pauses. Short. Quick. But enough for Ajax to notice. βFreed in time to save my life.β
βGod, Wednesday.β Ajax slumps against the pillar with his head in his hands.
βEnid never told you this, did she.β
Ajax lets out a bitter scoff. βSheβs been distant with me lately. The most Iβm able to get out of her is a good morning and a good night text.β
Wednesday says nothing, facing the mural once more.Β
βBut,β Ajax continues, pushing off the pillar with his foot. βThat explains why his father yanked him out of Nevermore. Couldnβt handle the βscandle.ββ
βXavierβs father? Vincent Thorpe?β
Ajax hums in conformation. Wednesday remembers seeing the enigmatic man on the television. Pugsley harboured a mild obsession with watching his talk show. βUnlocking the Inner Eye with residual Psychic and Entrepreneur Extraordinaire, Vincent Thorpe.β Wednesday chalked him up to be a narcissist and paid him no mind. Even Morticia was less than pleased that he was the new face of Psychics, and that surprised Wednesday. She wouldβve pegged Morticia to be a sucker for him like the rest of his audience.Β
There she goes, underestimating her mother once again.Β
βHeβs an asshole,β Ajax says bluntly. βXavier told me that the reason why he attended Nevermore was that his father couldnβt bear to be in the same room as him due to how underdeveloped his psychic abilities are. Heβs also never shown up for any of the Family Day events.β
βI see.βΒ
βI can guarantee you that his leaving was Vincentβs idea. Xavier always said that Nevermore was more his home than the Thorpe mansion.β
βWhat about his mother?β
Ajax tenses, his eyes shifting again. βThatβs not for me to say. Iβm sorry.β
Wednesday bristles, but doesnβt push it.
βI know it's a long shot, but if you do manage to reach Xavier somehow,β Ajax pauses, giving Wednesday a knowing look. She quirks a brow. βPlease tell him Iβm sorry. I shouldβve been there for him, tried harder, somehow.β
Wednesday gives him a singular nod, and Ajax smiles softly, his shoulders relaxing for the first time in days, before taking one last look at the once beautiful mural and walking out of the courtyard.Β
Wednesday meets the eye of the raven for a final time, and the hairs on the back of her neck stick up as one thought barrels its way to the forefront of her mind.
Xavier Thorpe is in danger.Β

I finally finished this, woah. Here it is! My take on the Vibrant Vitality teamup dialogue!! My goals were: give a bit more room to highlight these characters and their funny over the top personalities. Make it lively and funny with some visuals and some musing on all the things that can be going on behind the veil of raw dialogue without technically deviating from the script on what's spoken for the most part. Also make Groot a more prominent figure in the dynamic. Because he's part of this teamup too!! And I love him. Thanks for reading if you did! lemme know what you think!!
Since ur hyperfixating on hogwarts legacy rn am I allowed to humbly request for a frostbug doddle of them as students ππ
