While I personally believe that Mike and Eleven are the better ship, it's fine if you don't share that belief.

Something that I think is very admirable about their relationship is how much understanding they seem to hold for one another. They can fuck something up royally and still come back from it, which is the sign of a strong connection. Only a good relationship can stay real. Real relationships aren't flawless, but unlike some of the other relationships, they deal with their flaws because they care so much. They don't want it to end because of something bad that happened, so they choose to understand. I mean, finding out you've been lied to through letters for about five months by your lover sounds like exasperating information to me, but Mike stays patient. He's reasonably irritated for that first night, but he still tries to focus on her. He just doesn't get the chance to talk before, well, the whole world went to shit and everything, hah. He understands that she's incredibly emotional, he understands she's had less social interaction than other people, he understands now that his words mean something profound to her. He doesn't criticize her, he just wishes she would talk to him.
