The Genres of Anime

All of my friends, I think that you are exactly have known about “ANIME”, right? Anime is Jappanese Animation that show the characters in some places and stories. Anime is influenced by manga (japan’s comic).

Some people think that anime is only for kids. Their mindset are wrong. If we look from the picture and the story aspects, Anime isn’t for kids only, but teenagers and of course adult can watch it. Because, Anime is divided to some genre. Then, I will explain some genre that I know to you all in order to your mindset change.

These are several genre of Anime:

1. Action

Story about fighting, and usually character’s movement is so quick.

Example: Air Gear, Naruto, Bleach, BTOOM

2. Adventure

The story tells about character’s journey to get their purpose.

Example: One piece, Hunter x Hunter

3. Drama

The creation that make the spectator get out their emotional like feeling of angry and disappoint or sadness.

Example: Air, 5 cm per second

4. Fantasy

There are magic, dreams world and fairy tail story.

Example: Sword Art Online, Ragnarok

5. Herem

The male character is surrounded by many female characters.

Example: Love Hina

6. Historical

The creation that has history element.

7. Horror

Full of frightened, emotional, hatred feeling.

Example: Death Note, Jigoku Sensei Nube, Ghost at School, Another

8. Mecha

The story that related to robot.

Example: Gundam, Eureka 7

9. Mystery

The story about the event that can’t be explained and the characters have to find the way out.

Example: Detective Conan, Detective School Q

10. Romance

The story tells about love.

Example: Bakuman

11. School Life

The story about school life

Example: Sket dance

12. Sci-fi

Story about science fiction.

Example: BTOOM

13. Shoujou

The main characters are girls and the story about their activity.

Example: Tokyo mew mew, Sailor moon

14. Shounen

The main characters are boys and tell about their activity.

Dragon ball, seint seiya

15. Slice of Life

Story about the character’s life, how they can solve the problem and so on.

Example: K-On

16. Sports

Tell about sport’s life.

Example: Captain Tsubasa, Prince of Tennis, Slam Dunk, Eyeshield 21

17. Supernatural

Tell about an excellent strength that cannot be explained.

Example: Yuyu Hakusho, Ao no Excorcist

But, there are some genres that unsuitable for kids, that genres are indicated for adult only. So, be aware for all of you that want to give your young sister or brother anime CDs or Video. These are list of genres that unsuitable for kids: Adult, Ecchi, Hentai, Lolicon, Mature, Shotacon, Shojo Ai, Shounen Ai, Yaoi, and Yuri.

So, actually many anime that aren’t suitable for kids. If we look in the genres above, you can see that anime is more dedicate for teenagers and adult. But, there are anime that suitable for kids: Doraemon, Chibi Maruko Chan, Hachi, Kobo-Chan.

Why i write about this? Because i want to tell you all, anime isn’t for entertainment only, but anime also teach us about life. So many quotes that they have said and sometimes it make me feel confortable. Besides, i know about J-Pop and J-Rock because of I watched it.

After you read this article, i hope that you can get more knowladge, then you can choose anime that suitable for kids, teenagers, and adult.
