After dropping off Myeong-eun with Jaehyun, Yuta offered to drive you two to a nearby park that was doing a movie night. Tonight, the park was showing “The Notebook” and was starting soon. He parked in the middle of the lot with a good view of the screen, next to other cars while others sat on blankets on the grass. He asked you if you wanted to sit outside, but you told him it was slightly cold.
Yuta turned to face you, propping his leg on the arm rest and his left arm onto the steering wheel. You mimicked him before banging your head against the window, giving Yuta a good laugh as he lunged forward to hold your head. He muttered how clumsy you are and smiled innocently at you, as you blushed.
Yuta felt something cold on his hand and looked to see a ring still on your finger and he took your hand in his. “Why are you still wearing the ring?” Surprised, you dropped your gaze towards the item and shrugged before taking it off. “Honestly, I didn’t even notice I was wearing it. Life has been speeding with Myeong-eun’s birth and finishing up the semester to where I didn’t have a time to really soak everything that has happened.” Yuta couldn’t help but feel slightly unsatisfied with your answer and pushed it a bit farther. “Do you still have feelings for him?”
You gave him a quizzical look and shook your head, folding your arms across your chest. “Oh god, no. I don’t like him anymore. I just wish I knew why he did what he did.” Yuta sat back comfortably, ignoring the movie that is now starting and licked his lips. “Well, it’s because he has a gambling addiction.”
You were taken aback at Yuta’s statement and stammered. “A..gambling? addiction?” Yuta looked at you apologetically and nodded. “He owed someone money so that’s why he took your money. I tried to get it back, but he already spent it.” His arm reached towards you and rubbed your arm for comfort.
You smiled at Yuta and placed your hand on his hand. “Thank you for trying. You didn’t really have to do that, Yuta.” He shrugged and pretended to dust off lint off his shoulder as he beamed. “I know I didn’t, but I did give him a good punch to the face. Sucks for his pretty face.” You giggled at him while putting your hand on your chest. “Oh my hero. What would I have done without you.” You leaned over, placing your chin on his knee. “I’m serious, Yuta. You’ve done so much for me. Thank you.”
He slightly smiled and tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear, taking a deep breath. “It’s because I am in love with you y/n. always have been when i saw you in the bookstore.” He immediately regretted what he said as your face froze, turning pale.
