âThe arrogance is a little much sometimes.â
You mean, youâre jealous of my beard.
The home itself has very little to hide in comparison to its tenant. As such, the guestâs.. forward tendencies strike him as odd, perhaps even rude, but it doesnât happen to bother him all that much. People canât be held responsible for each and every one of their quirks, after all. He wonders if Jimmyâs upbringing had him this way all his life. He wonders if Jimmy grew up in a small town like Will was born in, the kind where everyone knows each otherâs names, their birthdays, and they leave their front doors unlocked all day, in case one of the neighbour kids needs a bathroom or a juicebox or a popsicleââ
âThank you,â he murmurs. It seems absent. Mechanical.Â
ââbut isnât that a little too storybook, a little too picturesque for what life usually happens to be? Maybe he grew up just like Will did, half orphaned and waiting for the other half to follow. Always walking on eggshells because the exact same action sometimes resulted in a pat on the shoulder and sometimes a broken bottle two inches from his head. All he knows is that he doesnât know. He doesnât know who this man is or where he came from. That stare makes him every bit as wary as it does curious; thatâs Will Grahamâs flaw, whether he admits it or not. The potential for danger draws him in. Perhaps heâs a little lost in that stare for a few heartbeats. Itâs a look he canât quite identify, a glint heâs not sure heâs seen before.Â
The question takes him somewhat off-guard. He finds himself caught like a sleeve on a door handle at a guy like me. Most likely, the statement doesnât run any deeper in regards to meaning than âa slightly ill-mannered complete stranger.â A feeling Will canât name tells him to guess again. It isnât like him to settle on âmost likelyâ anyway.Â
âIâm not much of a cook.â A hint of a smile accompanies the fact. A minor pause follows as he contemplates whether or not to direct Jimmy to the truck stopâs diner, not too far up the road. Thereâs no need to send him away so fast. Heâs interesting, and interesting doesnât come Willâs way too often anymore. âIf you want something for lunch before getting back on the road, I promise not to make you tip me.âÂ
Oh yes, Wililam, you donât know a thing, and thatâs obviously much more interesting than sending him away. So the otherâs invitation to cook is just as well an invitation to stay for a few hours (perhaps even the night, but Jimmy shanât suggest that, heâll let Will do the inviting). The little hint of smile on Willâs face prompts a smile of his own. âYou know, I think that good service always deserves a little tip of some kind,â he replies. And he moves to sit himself down, make himself comfortable. There is one thing that Will is right about (and if Jimmy knew what he was thinking, heâd tell him so), that the South is very different from where they are now. Where they are now is more open, and yet much more private, though he supposes that he has William and his choice in real estate to thank for that. Timothy has found himself a spot to call his own in this house, just as Jimmy has (for now, it shall change soon enough). His tongue touches at his lower lip again, resting there, running over somewhat raw skin â from the biting and pulling of flesh â and his eyes donât leave Willâs face, watching every move he makes. Predatory, in a way, but in a passive kind of way, a kind, soft kind of way, like a cheetah. âYou know how to cook? I ainât never been so good at it myself, but Tim ainât ever complained about it.â

gene is gross
Jimmy headcanon
send me a word + âheadcanonâ & iâll give a headcanon based on that word.
this motherfucker JIMMY:Â
Willâs been intrigued by Jimmy since the moment they met. Between his    accent and the look heâs always giving Will, he somehow happens to feel    like theyâve met before, theyâve known each other for a long time, and they    donât know a damn thing about each other. Heâs friendly because he hasnât    been given a reason not to be. Heâs wary because Jimmy is strange in more    ways than one. But strange isnât a bad thingâ strange is a nice break from    how normal things have been since Lecter was imprisoned. âLikeâ isnât the    word heâd use in regards to Jimmy, not yet. There certainly is some branch    of fondness that he canât quite name.Â
Will Graham bound.
WILLIAM, YES, YES WILLIAM, YES. WILL, YES.
A brief pause, and then nothing more than a simple, honest response. âIt was.â He doesnât expect the location to have soured because of what happened. It wasnât Italyâs fault. Truth be told, heâd like to go back someday. Enjoy it for what it really is.Â
He doesnât consider himself lonely, and heâs notâ if he were prone to that kind of thing, anway, he wouldnât live so far from the city and a good ten minutes by car from his next door neighbour. If he was asked why heâs so easygoing with this stranger in particular, he wouldnât know the answer well enough to share it. Maybe itâs a deeply ingrained hospitality, some kind of âhelp othersâ gene. Maybe that accent reminds him too much of home to turn it away.Â
Whatever the reason, itâs exactly what happened during his little excursion to Europe (and the fact that he made it home alive) that has him a little desensitised to regular old stranger danger. Will can hold his own in a fight. Heâs more wary of when people cook for him than anything else these days.Â
Thereâs a nod, and he briefly takes the hand thatâs offered to him.Â
âUh, yeah, after Shakespeareâ but itâs just Will, really. People only call me William when Iâm in trouble.â Half a truth, mostly a joke. He hasnât been called by his full name on a regular basis since before his mother passed away. It had come up less and less from that point on until it all but entirely stopped. The last ten years, maybe more, heâs been Will Graham to his colleagues, Will Graham to the media, Will Graham to the world. It comes in the form of a fleeting thought, there and gone again, that he might not mind someone using his full first name again. Itâs been such a long time.Â
âNice to meet you too, Jimmy.â
After Shakespeare. La-di-dah. He wonders if William here can measure up to Shakespeare, if he, too, is an expert in giving the people what they want and creating a legacy. He thinks that, somehow, he is. He purses his lips, making a slight kissy noise, and he looks around the house. He steps past William and he goes a little further into the room, slowly swaying past the dogs, and his legs end up covered in hair, but he doesnât mind it all that much. His eyes, really, are on the reflection of William Graham in the windows in front of him. âYou got a real nice place here.â Jimmy is one of those that makes himself at home, and while many may think that he already has, itâs only going to carry on. His fingers hook into the handle of a drawer, and he pulls it open, then he jiggles it, looks inside, and closes it again. âYouâre real nice, you know, not many would let a guy in like me,â he muses. Itâs got to be the dog, really, thatâs it. Ainât nobody scary with a little dog called Timothy. He turns back to the other man, and his head tilts as he looks over him, all weird this William is. Weird as he looks reserved, yet Jimmyâs in his house. Plus, Jimmy kind of likes weird, he likes it when theyâre a little different. He likes the scar on his face and he likes the way his eyes move across the house, over him, examining him, almost. Jimmy, on the other hand, isnât examining William, heâs undressing him in his mind. Wondering if he has any other scars that Jim ought to know about, any other little things for his eyes to caress and explore. âIâm kinda hungry,â he says. For more than one thing, apparently. âHow âbout you?â

The dogs catch his attention while the man responds, an absent smile taking its place on his features. The smaller breeds always tend to be more on the skittish side. It must be used to strangers to find itself so at home in a place itâs never seen before. Winston is the same way.Â
The question is blunt, twisting that straight-to-the-point virtue Will usually enjoys into something a touch too prying for his liking. He knows exactly what itâs referring to without the tap for clarity. The smile falters almost immediately and his fingertips raise halfway to the mark before he stops the involuntary reaction in its tracks and lowers his hand back to his side. Part of him knows he canât blame the man for possessing a little innocent curiosityâ it is, of course, the kind of scar that looks like it might tell one hell of a story.Â
But itâs precisely those kind of questions, the ones that want to hear the story heâs not so willing to tell, itâs why he opts into fixing his hair over it or wearing a hat when he leaves the house. His visitors were unexpected. It had completely slipped his mind. The subtle downward tilt of his chin takes on the quietest hint of shame. Itâs a long story. Jesus, does that one get old.Â
â.. Had an unfortunate run-in during a trip to Italy last year.âÂ
And the smile returns, but it seems weary. Heâs tired of the question. Not nearly as tired as he is of the answer. His statement summary is the truth in its briefest form; not enough to satisfy the asker, he has no doubt. It leaves far too much to the imagination. Will wouldnât be surprised if the guy is about to start guessing.Â
For a moment, he turns his back to him, grabbing a bowl from one of the cupboards and filling it with cold water for the dog. He crouches to place it in front of Tim and scratches behind his ears again, a weak attempt at a dismissal coming in the form of a mutter:Â
âItâs not something I like to talk about.âÂ
Jimmy makes a face and gives a little shrug of his shoulders. âItaly sounds nice, âcept for the, yâknow,â he motions to the scar again, and then thatâs the end of it. He doesnât want to pry if William doesnât want to talk about it. In fact, what heâd rather do is spend a little time here before heading back to, well, nowhere. Heâs been away for a long time now, only god knows if the house heâd had before is still there, if someone else hasnât moved into it. Responsibilities lie away from this house and those are things that Jimmy doesnât yet want to deal with. So instead his lips pout and he looks around the house a little. Large rooms, he thinks, he wonders what the others hide. Timothy is used to being allowed to do as he pleases, and so thatâs what he does, takes a little water and then moves on to helping himself to the couch. Will comes across as somewhat shy and yet heâs opened his house to Jimmy without any real question. He doesnât know what jimmy has done, who he is, the possibilities really are endless, and considering his run-in in Italy, one might have thought heâd be more careful. Jim leans his backside against the counter, one ankle crossed over the other and he looks at Will with a little smile on his face, his tongue touches at his lower lip. He isnât entirely sure what to say to him. Is he lonely? Is that why heâs been invited in with so little care? Is he just craving company? He realises that he didnât return the introduction and now, with hands clean, he holds it out. âJimmy, by the way, nice to meet you Will ââ that short for William, I imagine?â
The general sense of confusion and short-term memory loss is brought to you by this sorcererâs habit of over-hexing his den. Would it be best to disclose their true location, now? That when this man walked through that door ( wherever that door was ) he travelled farther than he bargained for?
Probably. But not yet.Â
â Heâs a bottom in the sense that he only takes it in the ass. Comprende? â
And Jimmy does roll his eyes because thatâs exactly what he knew it to mean, and it seems this man isnât understanding him. But he shrugs a lazy shoulder. He doesnât really seem to care what this place is, why his mind is a gentle haze of forgetfulness, itâs not so uncommon. Heâd probably taken something, too. âIs there somethinâ I can help you with? Is that why I am here?â
