What’s therapeutic about the sensation of having your brain melted from the inside out, right? ” and Oswald laughs, palms slapping dully against his thighs, though there’s nothing remarkably funny about any of it.  

“ —But– Arkham made us both stronger. I’ve seen what he can DO. 

Allow me to put your mind at ease; Only one is going to die, and it will be by your husband’s hand. He’s the only man for the job. ”

      FROM A WHEELCHAIR , EYES THAT MATCH HIS SKIN ARE FORCED UPWARDS to the would-be king. her body is still healing from the lazarus pit. forbidden knowledge pulses occasionally through that distorted head. however , the common denominator has always been victor. even after death , it is only victor who ca bring her back to NORMALITY. 

        UNSURE , WORRIED NERVES calm at his words. there is truth behind them. even liars know WHEN to speak honesty to keep credibility.

          “ Wouldn’t YOU like to know. ” Oswald quips, pointing a finger, erupting into a quiet fit of smarmy laughter. It’s smug, and self-serving. 

The way Oswald sees it, he has earned his rightful place at the head of the table without anyone’s aid; No one tells him what he can and cannot do. Not this so-called League, not the GCPD, and certainly not her. An off-kilter grin, devoid of humor, spreads across his face. “ —What a spirited speech. Goosebumps, truly. But I owe you nothing, nor do I believe that some mysterious omnipotent higher power has any say in what I do. I will NOT be bargained. ” 

The petulance in his tone rises, and he eyes her with distaste as she helps herself to some of the most hard-to-come-by liquor in his inventory. 

“ Sorry, no can do. ”

         “    PERSONALLY , I DON’T CARE. i just want you to understand how deeply i understand you , PENGUIN.        ”

         THE LEAGUE HAS HAD A HAND IN GOTHAM FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. since the very first of settlers came to colonize the city , the league of assassins have been there. the league protected , purged , and ran the city throughout time. this city is not only her BIRTHRIGHT , but her father’s and his father before him. the heir to the DEMON is the heir to gotham. 

         “      so by force , then ? if this is how you wish to play , fine. your men will bleed , penguin. one by one they will fall until i get what i want. which is truly -- not much considering your resources but ALRIGHT. i never COULD resist a good war.     ”

          sigh escapes the assassin’s lips , a shrug shortly following. the heir neatly DROPS the glass upon hard floors , OFFERING a disgusted turn of nose.
