Madelyn Calder

Adrian nodded lifting the baby up in his arms as he sat down with the little girl in his lap. “She is beautiful” he placed his hand over her shoulder “ its okay, I am not judging you, what I really care about is that you are fine” he took a deep breath” no, I would never of showed up here if I didn’t want to fix things with you, this is just a added bonus, I got a niece, it sucks that you didn’t have it in you to tell me, but I get why” he shrugged “ do you only want to patch things up with me because you are in San Francisco now?”

“She really is isn’t she? and she is going to need her uncle around so I am hoping you would be around, Riley too of course”  Madelyn smiled when she noticed he seemed to have a positive mind when it came to her daughter. She took a deep breath “ no, I have always wanted to fix things, it is just a lot easier to o face to face than on phone, I wish I was better at that , but im not... I am here now and I hope that it makes up for something”

Being in San Fran since he was 15, he got used to the place, it was a comfort place for him but sometimes he wished he could just get away some times just for a break. He smiled looking over at her for a moment, “Well I am glad that you like it here, it’s a nice city, probably not as nice as New York but I think it’s great.” He smiled, he was always going to say how nice the city was because it really was a nice place to live. She smiled looking over at him, “Oh you have a child? How old are they? What is their name? That must be exciting though.” He smiled, “Sorry that sounded very exciting from me but I am a massive fan of kids… promise not in a weird way. I realise how weird or creepy that might sound..” He shook his head for a moment. 

Madelyn did not mind when people asked about her child. She was her pride and joy after all and a great conversation subject. “Her name is Annie and she is eight months old, so she is still a tiny one” she smiled “ don’t worry about it , you are not sending my any creep factor” taking a sip of her drink she looked at him “ so did you guys solve that whole thing at the bar?”

Adrian stood still as she mentioned it being her child. He swallowed not entirely sure how he felt. He wanted to be angry with her, but could understand why she did not have the courage to call him. He sighed “ and her father?” he asked thinking that maybe he was at work or something. Adrian slowly walked up to the playbin smiling down at the small baby “ how old is she?” he asked. Not being sure if he could lift her her got on his knees placing his hand to the baby letting her grab it. “Its okay, I mean it really sucks that you kept this, but with how fucked up ways in New York and everything that happened I don’t blame you for not finding it easy to call. What matters that we are here and we can try to fix things…right?”

It was confusing to her how Adrian could be so calm. He usually had a bad temperament and would easily get upset. That was one major reason why their relationship was so hard to mend before. It did make her smile how gentle he already was with her. “You can pick her up if you want” she spoke as she sat herself down on the couch folding her arms together “The father is kind of not around.... he don’t know about her existence, I’ve tried to reach him, but really don’t know how to.. “it sounded ridiculous, she knew that, how hard could it be to track someone? “do you want to fix things? or only now when Annie is involved?”

Jamie was very happy to make a new friend, they were always something he needed and he was happy to have made. He was glad they had agreed to meet, he was a bit of a mess since ending things with Nate and seeing people was a good way to distract him from him or try to. He smiled looking over at her and laughed al ittle, “Well that is the main thing. Glad to hear. I am doing well okay thank you. I am just going to get a drink one moment.” He said as he went to order his drink. As he came back with his drink he took a seat opposite from her, “So how are you finding it here? Getting used to it yet?”

“No rush” she smiled taking a sip of hers as she leaned back waiting for the male to return.  She smiled as he sat down “ Oh I am finding it great, got to be honest, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this place as much as New York, but for the short time I have been here it is really growing on me and not going to lie, it is nice to get away from the same city you spend your whole life in” she could ramble about it for ages, the differences she was already noticing from NY and SF. Madelyn was a huge city girl. “ And on top of that I get to finally feel like how it is to be a proper mom” living on the scene she was she was working a lot and her daughter Annie was often with a baby sitter. Moving here was also a chance for Madelyn to get closer to her child and not feel like she was neglecting her role as a mother. 

It was a huge shock to see Madelyn walk into his bar last week, but he had to admit it was nice seeing his sister again. Her coming there meant that there might still be some hope for their relationship. It had a long way to go and probably a few fights ahead, but he was willing to fight to have his sister in his life. Thought the bar was not the best place to talk about things so when she invited him to her home he took the chance right away. He nervously made his way there by car walking up to the house that his sister got. As the door opened he gave her a soft smile before hugging his sister. As he let go he noticed baby stuff and by the corner of his eye a child. “Hey.. thank you…are you babysitting?”

Of course he was going to mention Annie at first, why wouldn’t he? yet she was not prepared how to reply to that question. It took a moment for her to get the words out of her mouth “no..she is actually mine...” with a slight shame she looked down placing her hands on her waist “ I know I should of called, but I wasn’t sure how to, we haven’t really had a relationship and everything been so messy, I keep pushing everything trying to focus on work, but I know she needs to know you and I want her to know you...” she was rambling. Taking a deep breath she looked at him “Im sorry, I should of told you about her regardless of what our differences is”

Madelyn looked over at her daughter who was happily playing in her own little playbin. She had no idea how to tell either one of her brothers about her existence and why she hadn't told them. Sure, both parts haven’t taken any time to even bother to keep their relationship going. Their family was dysfunctional, but she loved them and what kind of sister did not tell the people she loved that she had a baby. Maybe she was ashamed, the father wasn’t around and Madelyn spoken highly ever since she was a kid that she did not want kids until she was married, or sex at all.  It wasn’t that she didn’t want them to know Annie, she knew both of them would be perfect uncles for her. She smiled to herself thinking about it knowing that Annie needed a male figure to look up to and Adrian was perfect for that regardless of the crap that happened. That was the hardest part, that all of the crap happened, but she would always look at her brother as one of the best people she knew. Maybe that was why she was so angry. Today was big, she had to figure out both how to tell him about Annie as well as them sitting down and working things out. She was just about to remove some toys from the couch as she heard the knock on the door. Taking a deep breath she opened and looked at him with a small smile “ hey...come in”

Knowing that she was going to stay in San Francisco for a proper time, Madelyn thought she might as well try to find some places she found interesting. Art was something she always been interested in, not only paintings and such, but dancing was one of her passions, for her that was a piece of art, but also by the amazing paintings and photographs hanging in her fathers office and around the hotels. The hotel she was not running needed to spice a few things up in the lobby so going to find some art pieces was something she looked forward too. He tucked Annie into her stroller and made her way to The Castro to a place she was recommended by. Making her way inside she took a deep breath loving the atmosphere. Walking up to a few she stopped at this one particular. “Excuse me” she asked a woman seeming to work here. “Are any of these for sale?”

“You live here? how long have you been around?” he questioned walking with his sister back to the bar so he could return to his job. “You did make quite a nice entrance, I am happy to see you, thank you” he smiled, it meant more than he could say that his sister was her and supported him. “What can I get you to drink?”

“Just recently, we got a hotel now here and someone had to go manage it, so I said I could so I could see my brothers” taking a deep breath she hoped it was all worth it. “I am pretty good at epic entrances” sitting down on a bar stool she looked over the menu “I will just take a mojito, can never go wrong with them” placing her elbow down on the bar she looked at him “ you know I never seen you as someone who would want to work as a bartender.”

Madelyn embraced the hug with a relieved sigh. She did not expect him to even give her a chance to walk inside. Maybe she was overreacting, she knew her brother and he would not do that ,but considering their past she would not blame him for wanting to dismiss her. “I live here now” she smiled “ and you know I am good at digging, found where you worked, saw you got this place and having this opening thought it would be a great entrance, congratulations, this is great “

Riley was always keeping himself busy at work, he had lots of customers and he was getting through them after working hours on them. He loved his job but sometimes he wanted little bit of a break, and they allowed him that fter he had done so many. He heard the door bell ring as someone entered the store, looking up for a moment seeing it was his sister. His eyes widened in pure shock as he didn’t expect to see her standing there. Without a moment he stood himself up “madelyn what you doing here!” he beamed as he kind of ran to her wrapping her arms around her in a hug, he had missed his sister so much just seeing her was such a big thing to him right now. 

She was surprised to see the smile on his face, but gave him a happy hug back smiling as she did. It was good hugging her brother again. “I live here” she was not sure how he was going to react when she would tell him she been here on and off for a long time. “Thought it was about time I came to see you”

Daniel was taking a morning run in one of the many parks of San Francisco. He caught attention to a little dog running around, but thought someone might of just got it lose, After half of his run he was stopped by a woman smiling at her to be friendly. “ yes, I did see a little dog, didn’t really think of it as a puppy, but now when you say it” he took a few breaths to catch them “ it was running maybe a bit over there, do you need some help?”

“Yeah if you could maybe help me in the direction? if you have time maybe even help me catch it?” Madelyn always appreciated some help when it came catching animals. Especially when it might make her have to run for it, the guy looked like he was in good shape. “ If you are available that is, what do I  know”

He watched her interact with Bonzo a interaction he knew she would love. He knew she loved animals. “No it is fine, I had no idea you were here though…are you just visiting? “ he was confused. From all the voicemails of her telling him off he didn’t think she would ever want to step foot into his place. “Do you want something to drink? punch me in the face? “

“No I moved here a while back....” biting her lip she knew that was going to hurt her brother, that she lived here without really coming to visit until now. Then again she haven’t been the nicest sister so he would probably think she wouldn’t. “I don’t want to punch you in the face... I could take a glass of water, I do think we should talk.. “

Olivia was taking a stroll in the park she hadn’t been through here for some time and thought why not take the sceneic route. She heard a small dog running kneeling herself down as she began to pet the dog, she didn’t know who the owner was as she was looking around but she held hold of it seeing the lady speaking to someone looking a little worried. She walked over “did i over hear you looking for a small dog?” she asked softly “any chance that this is the dog? its  alittle cutie and very friendly” she smiled as she held the dog hoping she had found its owneer 

Madelyn smiled as she saw the puppy noticing it was the way the description was said to be. “Yes it is, thank you” she smiled walking up to the pup “hey you, do you have a owner? someone called about it not seeming to have an owner.,” she showed the women her id “I am from Calder Pet Rescue” she took the puppy from the woman “ thank you so much, saved me a lot of time really”
