Was it? Was Georgie certain she would be able to give Daniel what he was craving from her? Was she ready to a real relationship with him? She liked to believe that she was, she hoped that she was. “I want you, but I don’t know if you want me back just the same.”

At first he was confused, wasn’t it obvious that he wanted her? he said how he felt a few times now, he said he loved her and yet she wanted more proof. Shouldn’t it be him questioning her? for a moment he questioned what she meant with same, did she want him only him or did she have other plans in mind? Either way he could see she needed validation. He took a deep breath placing his hand on her cheek. ”I am not entirely sure what you mean by same, if you want me, only me and what I want then I can say with confident I never stopped wanting you that way. There haven’t been a day since things ended I wished you were with me. I want to hold your hand, I want to protect you, I want to lift you over my shoulders and hear that cute ass giggle of yours every damn day, I want to kiss your lips, I want to listen to you ramble on and on, I even want to fight with you, I want to have fights, mostly because the make up sex is fucking awesome” he gave a slight laugh stroking her cheek. “I want it all with you, but I don’t want to do it if you are not ready...no matter how much I want you, I can’t handle another heartbreak from you, but you know I am yours, I have always been yours Georgie”

Georgie felt like this was the moment that would define whatever happened to them. Here he was, opening his heart to her once more, trying to mend things somehow and she, she still was too scared to make a real decision when it came to them. What was her damn problem in the end? “I really want to ask you to start over again, to give me another chance, but I lost that right, didn’t I?”

Daniel was not sure what to make of all of this. Having her here with him, in his arms was just what he wanted, but he also was afraid that taking her back in would mean another heartbreak. Was it worth it with her? probably. “Is that what you really want? another chance?” he asked looking down to keep his eyes gazing into hers.

“Thank you!” She called out as she walked past him through the open, leaving the box inside just next to him. Giving it a little kick, it slid further into the store. Evie turned around to lock up the car when she turned towards the kind stranger - only it wasn’t a stranger. “Oh, hey. Daniel.” Fishing the key out of her pocket, she pressed the button, and the car locked remotely. Just enough time to make an awkward little pause exist. And just enough time to remember Georgie’s recap about the last time they saw each other. “How have you been?”

Daniel was not really sure how much Georgina told Evie about them and recently which made the situation even more awkward than it should. “I have been okay, how about you? doing good?”  he asked keeping his eyes on the woman in front of him. He was not sure what else to say.

Deanna laughed a little at him for a moment, “Well I mean why not? It’s nice to be told I am pretty at times.” She laughed a little looking over at him, “Okay, you still holding onto that? I mean come on we wouldn’t be best friends right now if I hadn’t have friend zoned you.” She rolled her eyes for a moment, “Hmm maybe. I have been pretty great, how have you been?” 

“Well you are pretty and if you need me to text you that every night I will” he nudged her “you friendzoned me? hell no, it was me who friendzoned you” he was obviously joking around with her. “I do love you though and I love having you as my best friend, I have been okay, confused, how about you?”

Deanna was a sociable person and enjoyed spending time with friends and anyone really. She was often making new friends but when Daniel said he wanted ot see her and invited her to the festival she couldn’t turn it down, he was her best friend and someone who was often there for her. As she reached him, she smiled, “Oh you actually missed my face? Is it that beautiful?” She laughed as she gave him a big hug back. “I missed yours too as well.” 

“Are you compliment fishing right now?” he chuckled “ you know I always think you are pretty, we friendzoned each other a long time ago though so not that kind of pretty” he wrapped one arm around her shoulder starting to walk down the festival “ of course you did, it is quite amazing, how have you been?”

Today was a perfect day for a festival, the sun was shining and on top of that Daniel needed to get out of the house after a full week of work. It was also about time he and Deanna hung out properly. He did not see her at the bar opening, then again his head was a bit everywhere that night. He missed his friend and needed a new scenery so when she agreed to come to the festival with him he was pleased. He opened his arms with a smile on his face as he noticed the woman coming down the street. “There is a face I have missed”

The mood swifted considerably, in one instance they were arguing and hating on each other, the next, it was all loving touches and soft words. It was undeniable that they had unsolved issues and above else, feelings that they had to work on, but everything was just so. messy. Georgie kept herself close to him, leaning on his touch and enjoying it for as long as she could. Her eyes closed briefly at his words and she let out a small sigh. He still loved her. “I don’t want to hurt you again, Daniel….” she quietly said, her hand gripping his shirt tightly, too afraid that he will disappear again.

Daniel did not know how to reply to her words. He did not regret letting her know that he loved her either. Regardless of what happened tonight he would go home and feel the same about her as he did a month prior, but he couldn’t help her figure out what she was feeling or help her prevent it. “I know...” he said quietly after a long silence his hands still playing with the back of her hair gently.

There it was again, the feeling of warmth, the completion, the love only Daniel was capable of bringing out to her. It was a simple kiss, nothing too rushed, too eager, just two people sharing a tender moment, yet, Georgie was melting against his lips. Her hands came to rest on his chest to help situate her on that moment, her fingers lightly twinning on his shirt to keep him closer. She pressed her face to his neck once they pulled back from their kiss from an instant before pulling back. “What are we doing here?”

He missed the way her lips seemed to fit perfect with his. The kiss was full of emotion yet very simple and sweet.  As they pulled away he let his fingers run down her arm kissing her forehead softly.  The truth was he didn’t know. From all the yelling and now all the sudden this he was not sure what to make of the situation. “I don’t know...” he said calmly nuzzling his face into her hair. “I love you Georgie.. no matter what happens here, I love you..” he knew saying that could easily go south, but he haven’t stopped loving her.  That was the truth.

He could not help, but give her a small smile as she seeked his eyes moving his hand stoking her cheek softly. He didn’t expect it , but as he felt her lips on his he kissed back.  His hand moving to the back of her head running up her hair. He kept kissing her for a moment before he licked his lips keeping his face close to hers.

Georgie didn’t know what else to do at this point. She fucked up, yes, but she tried to fix it only to have the cold reality thrown at her face when she tried to reach out of him. She deserved it, yes, she knew that, but didn’t make it any better. She didn’t know what else to do, she didn’t know what else to react and she expected Daniel to just blame things on her once more and just walk away, so when he wrapped his arms around her, all she could do was hold on to him tightly, seeking out some form of comfort that only he could give her.

As he felt her allowing him to hold her he gripped her even tighter almost lifting her up in his arms. Something he used to do when they dated when she was upset. “i’m sorry” he whispered every now and then pressing his lips to the top of her head.

“You kissed me first. You left me thinking that there was a chance, but then you just showed up here with another woman? ow was I supposed to know anything? I can not read your freaking mind, Daniel! I just said something so things wouldn’t be freaking awkward afterwards because I was confused! You can not put this blame on me, because this is not all of my fault!” She angrily said. They were both angry, they were both hurt and this was just one gigantic of a mess. “I know what I did! I know I broke up with us and I can not say how much sorry I am for that.” She repeated herself once more. “What is a mistake? Because I don’t know what even is going on anymore!”

The moment Georgie started speaking and he could see the hurt in her eyes and her tears he stood quiet letting her get off what she wanted. It broke him even more seeing her like that and knowing it was his fault made it worse. He could not let her stand there that upset so he walked up to her wrapping his arms around her “i’m sorry, its my fault okay..” he did not want to force her into a hug, so he held her briefly until he could feel her hug back. All he wanted right now was to hold her.

The more they talked, the angrier Georgie seemed to become. And for what? For her own mistakes? For Daniel to simply not explaining something she was meant to know by now? Truth was, the talking wasn’t clearly doing them any good right now. “What was I supposed to do? You brought me to your parents house and asked me to pretend everything was okay. You kissed me and then left as if nothing happened at all. You didn’t even talk to me properly, just left what happened in the air for me to imagine.” She angrily said, tears on the brim of falling down as she uncrossed her arms, hands on fists at her side. “All I did was say what you weren’t brave enough to do.”

“Don’t you fucking dare turn this around on me, I did not stand with a gun to your head to come nor for you to kiss me and what the fuck are you talking about leaving it at nothing? how the hell did I leave it at nothing when i literally went home thinking there was a chance for us again to get a text from you to say otherwise. You can tell yourself whatever you want to make yourself feel better, but don’t you dare turn this on me because all I wanted from the start is you back and I have been nothing but honest to you” it was obvious that he was angry and most hurt that she would make assumptions. “You broke up with me out of nowhere, left me fucking broken to pieces, I made the mistake of not telling my parents, that is on me , but you are the one thats been giving up all this time, you are the one who has pushed me aside and if its so fucking easy for you to give up on me because we didn’t put things down on paper after the dinner then maybe this is a mistake”

Somehow she felt betrayed, angry even at this whole situation. This one wasn’t her fault. No. He simply waltzed back into her life, brought her into his home, kissed her like things were all normal only to leave things like that. Yes, she did send that text, but he didn’t even say anything to her, he just….left. And now? Now he had no right to be mad at her. “What I want? Don’t throw that one on my lap, Daniel. You are the one that want it.”

Even if those words was something that he loved to hear, words that would make him happy he could not help, but to feel like he needed to push those feelings aside. How did he know this was legit? she had been drinking and he did not want to get another one of the texts again. He looked at the side trying to keep himself together. He usually was not someone who would cry, but it when it came to her, she could get him emotional in two seconds. He hated it. “And tomorrow what about then? you still want me then or would this be a mistake?” he knew he sounded harsh, but he had no idea how else to approach it. All he wanted was to say those words back, but it was not that simple.

Each step he took from her, the smaller Georgie felt. This night was the confirmation that she had lost her chance, that Daniel was out of her reach and he clearly didn’t want anything else to do with her. She had no right to keep pushing, to keep trying, and it was the liquor courage speaking now, but she felt like she had to try. “So this is it, then.”

Her words felt like knives, even if it was her who had broken them up he felt as if it was his fault. Maybe he should of fought more? but at the same time he felt played, especially after the dinner. He ha gone home with hopes that he and Georgie would find each other again and happy to be punched in the gut by a text message saying otherwise. He felt just as broken as the first time around, even if that time they were not official. He swallowed “ isn’t that what you want?”
