Suppose someone is time and time again observed to behave in a certain way in public towards the girlfriend they are nice to in private. That would definitely be an interesting situation to uphold on both their parts, no? Perhaps that behavior doesn't need to be romanticized and instead taken as genuine representation of someone's real feelings.

Another random thought of the day:

Said behavior was explained away as protecting someone who wishes to remain private and is awkward in public. Basically we were told that ignoring and/or distancing yourself from said someone is the purest expression of love, and it is wrong to expect anything otherwise. Now please, make this beautiful contradiction make sense today.
