When I pose behind the camera I feel comfortable being myself and all my stresses of everyday life goes away and I am at peace. Posing helps me express my emotions and also gives the viewer a sense of what I’m feeling also. Modeling has opened up a lot of possibilities for my self and ways to express my self. I am a model and I’ve struggled with mental illness a lot throughout my life. I see a therapist and also take medication to help with this. Throughout my life it’s been a battle but sometimes it is hard even with the help of medication. Sometimes I’m the happiest person in the world and other times it can be a struggle to even crack a smile. It has its ups and downs. Sometimes people shame me for my depression even though I can’t help it. That always makes my situation worse. All I want sometimes is for someone to understand me rather than to say “you’re too happy to be depressed.” I’ve also struggled so much with alcohol addiction throughout my life to deal with the pain of gender dysphoria in addition to the stresses of life. Alcohol made me a friendly me and made me feel a sense of comfort in those tough times. I was clean for 5 years and have relapsed but now I’ve been clean for about 6 months. Life can be hard at times but there is a way to conquer this and there is hope. It is hard to speak about these issues because of how taboo it still is in society. I hope that, by sharing my story, people can continue to break down those feelings of shame and be proud of who they are, inside and out. When we think about art we think about paintings or sculptures but there is more to the arts then just those two things. Modeling is like art and each position you pose in tells a story in each photo and describes what the individual is going through emotion wise. I’ve learned that each pose I do tells the viewer of the photo what emotions I have and each individual who sees the photo of me gets a different feel of my emotions in the photos I’m in. When I do boudoir I feel as though it gives me energy to keep going and feel my self behind the scenes and behind the camera. Behind the camera is like home for my self and I can be my self. The arts I’ve found make me comfortable in my own skin and I can be my self while telling a story in my images and to capture my emotions. I don’t usually talk about my struggles on instagram that much. I feel kinda vulnerable posting this on instagram. I want others to see the other side of me that struggles. When I was little I’ve struggled with my depression. Depression was an everyday thing for my self and I had to deal with. When depression was the hardest, some days I just wanted to not be here anymore or I would just would want to sleep and forget about my problems. Even to this day I still struggle with my depression but I manage it better now to get on with my life, but it all ways crawls up on me sometimes still. Sometimes I feel like the world is just crashing down on me and I feel I am a burden to others. I just isolate my self a lot now because I feel like no one wants to hear what I’m going though. It can be rather lonely when you have no friends around where you live to help you make it though the ruff times. I am just a really lonely person. I’ve all ways thought I was never good enough compared to others in my class and my work to this day. The struggle is all ways there daily where I never feel good enough at my work I do. I put in a lot of work to better my self at the job I do. Even then I never feel good enough.
