I think the difference between Buck and Eddie is that if Eddie were the one kidnapped in 9x13 and Buck had to face the possibility that he might already be dead and that Christopher is at home needing someone to come back, I don't know if Buck would've been willing to risk his life the way Eddie did. Not because he wouldn't want to find him and go as far as he possibly could to do that, but because he'd be thinking about Christopher.
Because Buck remembers the you're not expendable conversation and I think he thinks that this is what Eddie would want from him now, to make sure at least one of them makes it home to Christopher. And it would kill him, but I think he would hold himself back and choose Christopher.
Which then you put that next to "if you're gonna make it about me having to choose between you or my son, you're gonna lose every time" and it just. It doesn't line up in the way you think it would, because when it actually came down to it Eddie did choose. He chose Buck. He stood there at gunpoint and risked his life, risked not making it back to his son, for Buck.
And what do you even do with that? Because isn't that exactly what he told Buck not to do?
