Sometimes you need something to ground you to keep you from floating too far away.

I've never had an idealistic view of Nursing or life in general. It was always about phasing through life and going with the flow of things. Achievements were more out of 10% effort and 90% luck. I half-heartedly worked my butt off to meet deadlines but never trying to exceed my own standards. Somehow, that always got the job done. 

It's elusive--the way you look at me, regard me as "beautiful", consider me above average in most aspects. It's a strange feeling. A part of me doesn't believe you because it's all I've known all my life: that I am average if not beneath that. But you draw me in. I'm wrapped up in your finger and your touch burns. To be very honest, I never thought we'd last this long. But we did. It's scaring me, but it's also exciting me.
