“As for the wounds, of course they didn’t pierce your skin much more than superficially.They’re lousy shots.” She smirked and and nodded about Sabine helping with their intelligence. “Right. You are military trained after all, I see no problem in you taking a look at my information. But I do have final words on it, understand?”

Jade glanced over at Sabine and paused. “I’m glad you’re home. While you didn’t escape unscathed, I am glad you’re not in a body bag. I would’ve never forgiven myself for such an idiotic mistake on my end.”

Her fears were confirmed when Sabine walked in bloody.

Jade stood with a grimace of annoyance spread across her face. “Damn.” She paused for a moment, walking into the kitchen and grabbing one of the black hand towels from the counter and pressed it to the wound.

She pulled on gloves, used the last of the numbing agent she had in her syringes and started to check for any bullet fragments with a flashlight in her mouth. She hummed to get her mind calm enough to not hear the buzzing in her brain, and it worked. She managed to clean and stitch Sabine with ease and gave a painkiller to Sabine after she was cleaned.

1. Seven months, two days since employment. An opera. Sabine is there beside Jade, strong legs in a short dress, black Louboutins pressed expertly against the floor. She leaves for half an hour, returning only after wiping blood from the patent leather of her shoes, a smirk on her face. She leans to confirm the job done and Jade captures her lips as well as quells the gulf in her chest she’d always flirted with. 

2. Eight months, twenty four days. Sabine’s not thinking, she’s late. Rushing around the flat, she grabs her keys and a scarf- heading towards the door. She pauses to give Jade a quick kiss as though it was normal occurrence. It takes only a moment for her to realise the mistake, turning back to her employer, expecting chastisement but only earning yet another, deeper connection. She’s later than expected. 3. Seventeen months.. They’re comfortable now. Nights will be spend in the other’s bed- Jade never sleeping and Sabine always waking alone. For once, Sabine wakes first. Before sliding out of bed, she leans to press a soft kiss to Jade’s lips, Jade stirring only momentarily. Sabine sincerely smiles for the first time in ages. 

4. Twenty-six months. Sabine has convinced Jade to slow down for once in her life. It’s a calm night in- takeaway ordered and films on the television. Jade’s head is nestled gently on Sabine’s shoulder. Pressing a kiss to the top of Jade’s head, Sab’s suprised to find her lover turning her head back up, catching Sabine once more. They lose track of the film.
