STMP12 - the last one!
Creative writing in multimedia was a course I took in college. I selected it as a fun alternative to fulfill my arts & humanities requirement in the curriculum. Do I regret it? Not at all. I’ve always been a techie and try to stay relevant with the up and coming. So I feel that I already know how to use the modern tech and the internet to my advantage. What I really learned in this class was not how to use tech, but how to use the internet to express myself. I think this course has changed my approach to the internet. It used to be a resource for entertainment and work where the many outlets of information was something I could use to better educate myself and also entertain myself. But with this course I realized how simple it is to find a place in the internet that allows for creative output and how the internet, combined with tech, can be used to create a fulfilling experience with one’s creativity. As I completed the assignments I found myself open to a section of the internet that I found myself closed off to earlier like how I could make videos and create podcasts, which I hated previously, and explore them. At the same time, creating and publishing work isn’t all easy and I think that hidden work and complications behind the published work is what I learned from the many readings we had. Something I had struggle with understanding before was the meaning of ethos, pathos, and logos. Now I understand them and how their involvement is applied to every piece of art. There were times that I looked at my own written stories and thought about what I was trying to convey to the readers and what I felt when I wrote them. This knowledge has forever changed my understanding of creative work and I am thankful for learning it in this course with the readings as perfect examples of viewing and finding the ethos, pathos, and logos. I think creative writing hasn’t changed much for me though. I’ve always been a writer of stories and I think that this course gave me an outlet for those stories. Perhaps I haven’t actually thought of a real reason to release my work before, other than for a class, but this course helped me find Tumblr. I’ve always thought Tumblr was an artsy and stereotypical infestation in which creativity would either be highly praised or ridiculed to the end of time yet this course helped me realize that Tumblr was a place I could publish without a problem. With this perhaps I can take my work further than just my mind. Since I’ve always been writing stories and my mother is an artist of a sort I have always put creativity as an important life skill. Creativity is something that allows us to think of many possibilities to reach a certain goal and be resourceful. Creative work allows for us to realize what kind of people we are and how society is reacting to the way people think and feel. If we compare work of Jane Austen to Edgar Allen Poe we can clearly see the difference in the authors but also of the world they lived in. Creative writing allows for this documentation of history through expression of the mind. And for that I think creating media and writing is a great way to show off what we think and how we were raised to the rest of humanity while also documenting it. And it can be fun to create something that isn’t reality to us, to break out of the environment we live in and make a new one.

Sorrows of Kings
1.
For the moment I pulled sword from stone,
That was when such power had overcome my ego.
Yet these hands knew not the responsibility of nobility,
The arms knew only of victory but without a holy reason.
For I was blessed with legendary metal and magic and bloodline,
That armies had fallen with my blow.
Yet as the King of Knights,
The end was from my own kin that pierced me and my own people that struck me.
For I have ruled over many lands,
That covered such space over the East.
Yet for all the many people I have seen and killed,
The blood spilt over there was equal amount of wine drunk.
For allies were made out of enemies,
That the greatest of my warriors shook the bones of rivals.
Yet as the King of Conquerors,
The true goal of conquering for peace ended far too young.
For I the richest and strongest of all kings,
That none on Earth and Heaven can dare challenge.
Yet with divinity and humanity,
The ultimate collection of weapons, women, and power did not satisfy me.
For that the only equal to my power was taken from me,
That the Gods who created me sent for Death
Yet as the King of Heroes,
The demise I gave myself was self-isolation and insanity.
For I rule over the Gods that rule over the humans,
That I startle them to make them know their place.
Yet with all my power of thunder and storm,
The fact that I am King stands without importance.
For that I am reduced to King in name and not power,
That even with my acts I remain unnoticed.
Yet as King of Gods,
The King that is much overruled is no king at all.
For I am kin of the Sun God,
That my role in life in predetermined.
Yet being King comes second to my destiny,
The one prophet overcame me and forced me to my knees.
For I have built a strong empire with marvelous structures to show,
That my power as King gave way to peace.
Yet as the King of Kings,
The God I represent was beaten bare with no following.
2.
For when I sit behind shining screen,
That the light stolen from elsewhere and captures other humans.
Yet as I shape a story by cutting, editing, and correcting,
The final product giving life to an idea.
For I have great power in telling stories and creating life,
That my kingly duty is to alter captured material into a stream of consciousness.
Yet as the King of Correction,
The work I shape is not my work at all.
