"Okay, pick your poison..." Serena took a suspenseful mouthful of her drink and leaned forward, slapping down one card after another, "Have snakes for arms or... have to lick the doorknob every time you enter a room?"
That's so easy, snakes for arms, if I can train them to move fast enough my drum skills would get that much better you know. So what about the poison you mentioned, not real poison right? If it's just fake poison I'll just pick whatever is prettiest. Oooh is there a yellow poison? Because I choose that. It's my favorite color."
"Hey, you." Hollie tried to get the attention of someone from a nearby tables in what could only be described as both a whisper and a holler the moment the guy she walked in with left to the restroom. "Sorry to bother you. But could I get some help getting out of a really bad date?"
Kenzo pointed to himself after realizing he was in fact being called. He'd been happily getting down on some sushi by himself in his own little world until the woman at a nearby table pulled him out of it. "Uh… my help. Sure what can I do? Like are you safe or you just trying to get out of an awkward situation? I need to know what kind of energy I need to be bringing."
"Hm? Oh, no just watching. It's cool," Taeyang gestured to the wheel and the progress of the creation upon it. "Wasn't trying to throw you off, didn't realise you knew I was watching, my bad. You were really in the zone. How long does it take you to finish one piece? And I guess since I've already interrupted you, got anything you'd recommend for a mom? Felt like getting mine something on a whim."
*
"Right on, you didn't throw me off, I was in the zone though. I just kind of zoned back in and felt your eyes. It depends on the piece and how much of a perfectionist I'm being that day. Today I'm not so focused on getting it perfect, just challenging myself so I'm taking a shot at a mortar and pestle. Guac is gonna go crazy in this bad boy." Kenzo smiled while he turned off his wheel then stood, "As a dude with 3 moms I am uniquely positioned for the job to find a quality mom gift. Give me a few minutes to clean up in the back and I've got you, okay?"
This morning was the exact type of morning Kenzo loved the most. He'd gotten up early to open the store and set himself up outside on his wheel to throw…well he wasn't sure what he would be throwing when he sat down but trusted it would come to him. He had his music going and a cup of coffee so the vibes were immaculate. Historically speaking, this was one of his slower days at the shop so he anticipated not much action, but when someone approached his storefront maybe 45 minutes into him spinning with a familiar curious eye for what he was doing, Kenzo smiled softly, "Hey, you having a good morning, friend? Is there something I can help you with inside or you just looking?"

"That's good I like what you're saying but a small kindness even from a grain of sand could matter. And even if it doesn't, I try not to be negative, but damn, I like how your mind works, what's your name. You're a very interesting stranger. Great minds, let's just keep letting out bodies do our thing." After a bit in the song, Kenzo held his hand out for Ella to take, intending to spin her around if she'd allow it; something about her told him that she'd be an excellent twirler.
"That's two different topics though, isn't it? Kindness is always a good thing. But nature exists regardless of our thoughts. It's so much bigger than us. I try not to be negative too I think that's a good life philosophy and practice in general." She laughed and held her hands up to accept the compliment. "I'm Ella. You're a very interesting stranger too....?" She dragged out the last word so he'd fill in the blank with his own name. She didn't miss a beat, taking his hand and letting him spin her around.
"Nature is sentient, in it's own way, at least I believe so anyway. When I was little one of my moms told me about this story she heard once about these plants that witnessed a murder and their testimony convicted the murder. Like the leaves were hooked up to these crazy machines and it measured the plants' distress. When I was older I looked into it more and there's truth in plants having means of communicating with each other and even emotions. Nature is alive, Ella. Oh, I'm Kenzo." He introduced himself while he spun her around, "I'm glad to meet you. That's why I love festivals, man. Just a bunch of people more or less here for the same thing."
"I don't know, a food has spent years cultivating what it will taste like, and here I am, some guy, small grain of sand in the ecosystem rejecting all of that work." Kenzo grinned at the question, " I don't know, can you believe I never thought about a signature move? I just do whatever feels right like..." He started to dance again, and true to his word just did what felt right without him thinking about it much, "Do you have a signature move?"
"But like you said, you're just a small grain of sand in the ecosystem. Billions of other grains of sand love that food for everything it does and exactly what it is. Why does your opinion matter so much to that food? It exists and does it's thing whether you approve or not." Under different circumstances Ella could have laughed at how she sounded right now. He was easy to talk to in a way that surprised her. "You look like the type to have a signature move. I don't have one either I just go with whatever the music is doing." The music was currently a bouncy pop song so Ella let go and started dancing without worrying about being seen or judged.

“Well yeah, but I want to respect the coconut and all of it’s contributions to society.”
“not liking the taste of a food isn’t disrespecting it. I think you’re allowed to say you don’t like something while also honoring it’s positives.” She finished off her popsicle and tucked the tick beneath the fabric on her hip so she wouldn’t liter. “Now, we were dancing right? What’s your signature move?”
"I don't know, a food has spent years cultivating what it will taste like, and here I am, some guy, small grain of sand in the ecosystem rejecting all of that work." "Who me?" Eve made a surprised gesture to herself, though she'd never been subtle a day in her life so it wasn't like she was trying to hide the fact she'd been watching him either. Plus she'd seen Kenzo and some of his work at the gallery before. "You sure you want some of this?" Setting her drink down, she started out with a shimmy that evolved into jumping with the music.
"Yeah you, I've got eyes all over." Kenzo said motioning between his eyes and her general direction over and over again for a few seconds. "I can handle some of that, let's go." He chuckled as she barely hesitated to come over and danced with him. Kenzo fed off of her energy as he was sure she'd fed off of hers and he was having a ball busting out any and every move he could think of. "Yo I think you became my favorite person here. I'll dance with you anytime, no exceptions."
mackenziekimura:
“There are exceptions to every rule you got me there, but I don’t plan on doing anything that would be featured in a true crime doc, do you?” Kenzo could appreciate how friendly this girl was, it was always a toss up on what kinds of people you’d meet and he preferred to be pleasantly surprised, “Nah, I’m allergic to coconut. Well not like I get sick, like my taste buds are. Not very receptive to the flavor you know?”
“Not today,” she shrugged, pulling the most innocent face she could. “So... you don’t like coconut? Is that what you’re saying?”
"Well yeah, but I want to respect the coconut and all of it's contributions to society."

"You do, yeah. Or a mysterious video game NPC that you meet along your journey," she suggested, feeling like both were accurate. Since she had met Kenzo through one of the classes she took in town she couldn't help but feel like he just made his own world wherever he went. She moved her eyes up and though she hesitated, she did appreciate him asking. "You can," she said and moved closer, a little surprised he even wanted to dance with her but she was hopeful that confident energy would somehow transfer into her. "Alright I'm following your lead here, Professor."
"Oooh I'll keep that one in mind when Halloween comes around. That's really good, Mae." Kenzo loved meeting all types of different people, but there was something about being around other artists made him feel an unspoken kindred connection even if the mediums weren't the same. His moms said it was sort of similar with music and that made sense to him, "Thank you now follow my lead, left and right." Kenzo did take hold of her hips and rocked the side to side in time with both himself and the music, grinning more as the movement became more Mae's than his own. Like a parent letting go of a kid staying upright on a bike, he let go and stepped back, soon hyping her up more than even dancing himself, "See I knew you had it."
"You might have a point there. Doing is usually better than watching. Maybe not in the case of something they could make a true crime documentary out of but dancing, yeah." Ella closed the space between them and started moving to the music. "Spiked pina colada, want some?"

Mae had to admit he had a point and she gained nothing from acting like she wasn't enjoying herself. She got to her feet and still wasn't quite moving yet but eventually started to follow the beat with her whole body. She wasn't a bad dancer necessarily just an insecure one. "Do you always talk like a philosopher?" She knew the answer so didn't comment further, instead trying to focus more on dancing than what he was saying. It was one of the better songs she had heard that night and she had promised Simon and Cal that she would have fun. "Okay, yeah, this is fun, I'll give you that."
"Do I talk like a philosopher? I don't know, but you know I was thinking about philosophers the other day so it's pretty funny you'd say that." Kenzo grinned brilliantly like he usually was, "You're thinking too hard. Music is tangible, let it move you, eyes up here, focused on me. Can I put my hands on your waist?" He was pleased that she was having more fun than she was moments ago, proving his point."

Ella didn't realize she'd been watching him but he called her out ruthlessly. She coughed out a soft laugh and held up a hand toward him. "My bad, sorry. I was thinking about it but I'm enjoying this popsicle and show a bit too much right now."
"You don't need to be sorry and I always think that doing is better than watching, but you gotta do what feels good to you, right? I can't stop though, this song is special. What kind of popsicle is that?"

“Pass. I’ve actually got the worst case of no rhythm known to mankind. And probably an even worse case of two left feet.” Aimee admitted reluctantly. “Not only would it not be a pretty sight but it might be a danger to anyone in a ten foot radius. I’m more skilled with my hands.”
"Oh yeah? How'd you collect that data." Kenzo danced closer towards Amy, "Dancing doesn't involve your head, mostly heart and hips and I'm pretty sure you made that up in your head. And hey, on the off chance you're right, I laugh in the face of danger. Come on, all the fun I'm having is the fun you could be having."
Mae was definitely looking and despite trying to stifle a laugh she let it go once he called her out. It was a good song and in her head she was dancing but that wasn’t necessarily translating to her body moving. “I don’t know, I think your moves are far superior, I’d hate to throw you off,” she said but her head was moving along and then her shoulders, though she wasn’t quite ready to get to her feet. “I think you missed your dancer calling.”
"Mae…dancing is not a competition unless it's a dance competition. I don't really get thrown off so don't worry about it. Your subconcious can't even help it…" Kenzo just held his hand out, "So you might as well just come on." He shook his head, "I could still be a dancer if the calling pulls me enough. Life is long and ever changing afterall."
