True Swordsmen
Sorey stared at the blade in his hand, it felt light but a bit uneasy in his hand, it was much more different than the dagger he had been given when his village had been attacked. It was sharper, bigger and overall different. He felt nervous. What if he cut himself? Or someone else?
âYou arenât going to hurt anyone. Itâs just a wooden dummyâ he told himself out loud, focusing on taking the stance he had seen adopted father do many times. However, he was at a loss of what to do next. Stances were one thing but his father had never shown him how to actually use a sword.
Maybe just move it like a dagger? Could that work? Slowly he put his feet in front of the other and swung. He could already feel something was off but he wasnât sure what.
âYour swing is too wide. Leave yourself open and youâll get stabbed.âÂ
If the young manâs mutterings werenât already an indication, one look at his posture and Felix could tell that he was inexperienced. Normally he wasnât one to volunteer advice, but with no instructors present, it would only irritate him to watch the student waste a whole training session developing the wrong habit.
Sorey had not expected someone to be out with him and the voice almost made him drop the blade all together. He was more surprised by the fact it was another student like himself giving him advice and not a professor. 'Leave myself wide opened and i'll get stabbed.' he frowned, 'Right do not want to have that happen.' he thought. However, how to fix that was another question. His legs had felt too far apart and when he did swing, it felt like the blade would have flung out of his hands all together. Slowly, he put his legs more in front of him and put a tighter grip on the sword. "Like this?" he asked
