CURTAIN call

I was pretty tripped up between dorothy and mama violet, but after a rewatch and a lot of discussion with my brother, I think we settled on a good explanation

the MC assumes juliet and harriet are twins and look alike, but this is a wrong perception. juliet doesn’t resemble harriet. wu has a line saying no one would mistake them for one another. juliet mentions they are fraternal twins. it’s also mentioned harriet takes after eva and juliet after adamska.

ok this is the weird part... the MC has also confused eva with harriet. they were intro’d together and I guess assigning harriet the appearance of euryale led to this mistake? they’re in suspiciously few scenes and people seem to dance around referring to them explicitly. tbh not 100% confident on this point. but when gathering alibis, “eva” seems surprised you called her “miss violet” and talks about her “mother”. “eva” is also flirty during the beach scene, which didn’t seem that weird at first because this kind of iffy fanservice is par for the course in fate, but it would make more sense for her to be flirty if she was the sister. moriarty and holmes kept warning you your perception was out of wack. if not for their repeated hints I think we would’ve been so lost here. 

dorothy’s alibi was super confusing since I couldn’t figure out the timeline of how she was putting to laurie to sleep at 10 to get up to commit murder (?) later / find laurie playing hide and seek. I think this is how it went -  she was telling the truth and slept through the night, only laurie got out of bed to play with cain afterwards and was found by “eva”. 

this feels supported since the detective (you) wasn’t present at the scene, so the “dorothy” shown may not have really been dororthy. the scene would make sense in the context of a mom finding a child since cain was present. they avoided having cain name dorothy in that scene which makes it suspicious, and holmes’ framing made it look like that adult was the culprit. whoever found them was the one who had just gotten back from committing murder (unless it’s supposed to mean whoever found them had an alibi)

I’m still not sure why they obscured morris’ identity, I feel like that’s important

as for the motive. tbh, I still think dorothy has the best motive. in getting rid of morris and chris, her true-born daughter would inherit. mama violet’s motive would be...to get cain, the male, to inherit? If her goal was no marriage at all, I can’t think of why she would want to destroy the family. and if it was to help juliet, I don’t know why she would be so opposed to chris, who seems like he’d treat juliet well...actually, maybe mama violet just wants to allow juliet to get together with her true love (you). But...then she poisoned you so that theory’s out. I’m not really sure here.

Her wish had always been a selfish one. A chance to pursue the Magecraft she loved, and a chance to walk on her own two legs. She was under no illusions that the war would be easy, but for herself, and for the Yggdmillennia clan to regain noble standing in the eyes of magi, Fiore Forvedge Yggdmillennia was prepared to stake her life.

She laid out the magic catalysts in a summoning circle, careful to not roll over the lines on the ground with her wheelchair. Lastly came the relic, one carefully obtained and appraised by the head of Yggdmillennia to belong to a powerful Servant.

“ Let silver and steel be the essence. Let stone and the archduke of contracts be the foundation  ...” Wind whipped up around her as she began her spell. The lines on the floor glowed with energy. Confident, Fiore continued with the incantation.

“If you will submit to this will and this reason…Then answer!”

The prospect of food makes the wolf whine, lips pursing together to make the saddest expression a wolf can muster. She had to play up the charms of an adorable dog, right? Had to make it convincing!

As if she understands, Amaterasu shakes her head a bit as if to say no. It’s a lie, since one of the Blue Lions snuck her some food before.

What had he done? Had he really just agreed to a date from one of his dearest friends? Ah, but Akira wouldn’t have sent that text if he didn’t feel the same, surely.

His phone buzzed and jingled in his hand. Ah, Akira’s response! 

Taking a deep breath he opened the message. His hand wiped across his cheeks as he read. Certainly seemed that they were on the same page. How could they not be? Akira always went along with Yusuke’s requests, no matter what they were, and seemed to just know what he wanted.

[Text: I’d be fine with calling it a date. I think we both have agreed to that.]

The offer of a cooked lunch made him smile. Akira did cook for him every time he went over, but it never failed to make Yusuke happy. And not just because he was getting a proper meal.

[Text: It would be my pleasure to come.] [Text: For where I’d like to go I’d be happy anywhere if I’m with you.]

Maybe the idea of a date was new to Yusuke, but Akira had been thinking about it for an agonizing while now. The last time they hung out together, and the time before that... well, anyone would think taking a couple’s boat around the lake and an invitation during Valentine’s was obvious enough, but this was Yusuke, and he marched to his own beat. It was part of his charm.

Akira had braced himself for any sort of answer. If Yusuke agreed to a date, then he must feel similarly. Yusuke was always earnest in his passions. 

Still grinning, Akira replied back.

“Woah— what are you doing?! I’m still in the bag, you know!”

“Did something good happen?”

Morgana asked him, tail swishing as he watched Akira seize his phone the moment it buzzed, read the message, and sink onto his bed with a grin on his face.

Seconds before Akira had been pacing the room in nervous anticipation of Yusuke’s response. He'd sent that last text in a spur of the moment decision. A poorly planned gamble that would shake up a friendship that he’d come to cherish no matter how Yusuke answered, but he'd revealed his hand and there was no taking it back. Something about their day together had given him the extra push. It was a day that on paper was nothing special, but seeing Yusuke's eyes light up over a bowl of curry, or the earnest way he spoke about his passions, Akira thinks he'd welcome many more days like this.  

His heart raced as he read Yusuke’s reply and reread it again. Feeling a rush of elation he texted back.
