So i’ve just finished watching Korean Drama My Secret Romance - MSR (2017) ft. Sung Joon and Song Ji Eun, with total of 13 episodes.
What’s it about : Lee Yoo Mi, a sweet and innocent nutritionist in training, once bullied because of her mom’s career as a porn actress. She then became overly conscious of others opinion and refrain oneself from dating.
Meanwhile, our Male Lead is named Cha Jin Wook, is a typical playful badboy, irresponsible company heir who mess around with women, always clubbing and involving in a scandal. His father, the chairman, forced him to became a staff/bellboy at their company’s resort as a punishment.
They met each other during her stay at the resort, and Jin Wook managed to seduce her when she was feeling down. They spent the night together without knowing each others name, then Yoo Mi left immediately in the morning, regretting her shameful act.
Three years later, they fatefully reunited at his company, only to met him completely changed to become a cold, ruthless director.
Little did she know that she’s the one who changed him by leaving a scar on his pride, and he planned to utilize his authority and Casanova skill to steal her heart once again.
Ain’t that a delicious situation ;P
I have to say that this is my first time got extremely hooked on a drama's first episode. Usually, a drama's first episode is only an introduction, and there won’t be any romance starting yet. But in MSR, things went up the roof in the first episode because they got intimate immediately😉
The early half of the drama (up to 8th eps) is sooooo good and fluff that my mouth is frozen stiff out of grinning too much.
The sweetness and cuteness is overload, the skinship is right there, in a generous amount compared to usual k-drama, tons of kiss scene, and the chemistry between main couple is electrifying especially during the first episode. And the male lead is such a flirt that girls do literally get weak on their knees(including me😂). You like kabedon? then this is a must watch.
Unfortunately, during the later half (ep 10-12) the story got degrades, it gets so typical and angsty with too much flashbacks. And the ending, although a happy ending, still not as intense as the first episode, which is rather disappointing.
Good points from this drama: tsundere yet smooth male lead, cute and hardworking female lead, respectable second male lead, no excessively annoying love triangle (which is good, coz i hated that in a drama), funny male secretary, no evil mother in law.
Is it worth it to watch? DEFINITELY YES!!!! but only up to 8th episode. Throughout all my life watching K-drama, here’s no other RomCom/fluff drama AS CUTE AS MSR’s 8-episodes. Score up to 8th episode? Definitely 11 out of 10.
The rest of the episode? Only 6 out of 10. Damn i despise it when the director and the storywriter messed up in the climax.
