I haven’t drawn anything for Splatoon in like a year and I was so excited for this ask! I drew both Stan and Mask as Idols plus a silly salmonid Mask <3

I’ve never drawn Ace Ventura before but I wanted him to look like Carrey and not the cartoon version (I think the cartoon looks..odd)

I think Milo might want some toast too :3

I'm just curious to hear your opinion on the question of "who Ace gets along better with: Stanley or Mask?" Although Mask and Stanley are the same person, they behave completely differently... It's even difficult for me to imagine them (Aceley) as a couple. Like...Would it be challenging for Ace to get along with someone who has a (hypothetical) split personality? What do you think about this?

I think at the start of their relationship ace would definitely prefer/get along better with stanley, FOR A REASON: he has no idea stanley and mask are the same person. this is just the storyline i had for them in mind, stanley at this point hasn’t really been going out as the mask often and ace never gets the chance to connect the dots that they’re the same person. He’s in love with Stanley and Stanley alone. in my eyes ace is completely in love with how much of a dorky nerd he can be, and how easily they click and match each other’s zany energy and so on and so forth. On the other hand, the few times he’s met Mask it’s always been a sort of competition of their egos and them fighting like children over silly things.

But THEN! i do think eventually stanley wouldn’t be able to keep his other half a secret, i think at some point he would confess that he has also been wearing the mask and ace would initially be more confused than anything. still I think he’s supportive of it and is glad to know the truth finally above anything else, in my eyes stanley explains that he feels a strong Need to sometimes put it on and let his “other self” come out. I think this is also what makes Ace suggest Stanley to get checked out by a psychiatrist and ultimately get diagnosed with DID.

after this i feel like ace would gradually come to love both Stanley and the Mask, part of having a partner who has DID is accommodating them and understanding that while their mind may be fragmented each of those “pieces” still make up one whole person. and that includes treating each piece with the respect and kindness you’d want for yourself, which is something Ace is very good at! To him all that matters is making sure that Stanley and Mask are comfortable with it as well and making sure they’re okay to talk about it.

So basically at first Ace prefers Stanley, but as time goes on he’d understand and accept that both Stanley and Mask are the same person while still being separate in their own way. I also like to imagine Stanley’s other parts coming out on occasion and Ace getting to learn about each one
