Being Iranian is not easy when you have to fight the fucking pope too
Pope Leo XIV awarding the Vatican ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Hossein Mokhtari, the Grand Cross of the Order of Pius IX as a so-called symbol of āpeaceā and āpacifismā feels surreal and deeply disturbing.
Christianity is supposed to stand for freedom, justice, compassion, and peace. But what kind of peace ignores the suffering of millions? What kind of moral leadership honors representatives of a regime responsible for brutal repression, executions, terrorism, and the destruction of countless lives across the Middle East?
How can the pain of the Iranian people be ignored so easily?
More than 40,000 young Iranian souls have been taken by this bloodthirsty regime. Mothers still mourn their children. Families still wait for justice. Entire generations have grown up under fear, torture, imprisonment, violence and executions.
And yet their representatives are welcomed, honored, and rewarded.
What message does this send to the victims? To the mothers whose hearts were broken? To the young people who sacrificed everything for freedom?
Peace without justice is not peace.
Dialogue without accountability becomes hypocrisy.
And honoring the representatives of oppression while victims remain unheard is not reconciliation, it is betrayal.
If religion is truly meant to unite humanity, it cannot do so by covering up crimes, silencing victims, or legitimizing cruelty. The world should stand with the oppressed, not decorate those monsters.
This is not dignity.
This is not justice.
And for many people who have suffered under this islamic regime, it feels absolutely disgusting.
From now on, the Pope is no longer a messenger of peace, but a supporter of Islamic terrorism.
This surprised me to read, as the papacy has condemned Iranās regime for years, and as I expected, itās a hoax; the Iranian regime twisted the facts to make it look like they have the approval of the Pope when they do not, and people fell for it. Donāt believe everything you read, guys.
āContrary to news reports, Pope Leo has not bestowed an exclusive special honor on the Iranian ambassador to the Holy See,ā the U.S. Embassy
I riconoscimenti ai diplomatici dopo due anni di servizio presso la Santa Sede
From the blog of Kyle Moran at The Times of Israel
So according to the first link the only part that the regime media made up was that the award was āexclusiveā
Still the papacy let a child killing terrorist in that gathering, shook hands with him and included him among the recipients of that award instead of kicking him out or cutting relations with these blood thirsty mullahs all these years
You may not care but imagine for one second being one of the many Iranian families whose loved ones were tortured, raped and killed by this regime. Maybe then youāll know why this is still treason in our eyes
Initially this really upset me because I find it so so cruel and insulting, but I can see that youāre in pain and are reacting to what you see as me excusing something unethical. Regardless, that is such a mean and horribly inaccurate thing to assume about me, a stranger. Pointing out that the story is exaggerated by the regimes propaganda machine doesnāt mean I support the modesty police beating women to death or raping them in prison. Itās a good thing that itās not as bad as the hoax asserts. Basing activism around real facts instead of government propaganda and AI images is extremely important. The legacy of the papacy is one of horrorāoppression and exploitation. Iām not defending their strategies. Iām just establishing what actually happened.
If you check the articles, youāll see that the award was not presented by Pope Leo, just some random employee. Thatās a faked AI image meant to assert that the church supports the regime. The award was not even presented in person, if I remember correctly.
The papacy has been working against the regime in its ways for a long time, and this award isnāt really an award; the articles establish that itās basically a participation trophy meant to maintain diplomatic ties the regime a bit in the hopes of encouraging peace instead of doing what the west did with North Korea and just leaving them alone to do whatever crimes they want. The papacy has to maintain a careful balancing act as the most powerful religious force in the world. I donāt agree with it, but thatās the situation.
The same thing happened with the Nazis. The pope outwardly had to play nice, but internally was supporting efforts to save Jews and transfer sensitive information to the Allies. We donāt know whatās really going on. I understand why you want them to step in more forcefully, but thatās simply not how the Church works. It hasnāt been for hundreds of years.
