The day started with Jax, a cisgender man, waking up in his very cis looking bed in his very cis looking room.

Jax yawned cis-ly, having just had a lovely night of cismasc dreams.

Gosh, it was a good day to be cis!

Jax rifled through his closet, trying to determine which of his overalls would best help represent the person he wanted to present to the world: a cis one.

Before Jax left his room, he grabbed his “CISMASC” hat and plopped it on top of his manly manly ears, in case anyone needed a reminder he was cis. Then he looked into the mirror he had, in order to capture himself in all his cis glory.

Jax repeated his morning mantra (“I’m cis,”) and felt ready for the very cis day he had ahead of him.

And he stepped out into the world, devoid of any cis representation.

(Except for Jax of course, who was cis.)

Jax didn’t want to go on an adventure. Nobody else in the circus seemed to understand what it was like to be cis, and none of Caine’s adventures with cismasc enough for him.

Caine was nonbinary apparently and “didn’t understand binary gender”, which: cool. Jax doesn’t care. He’s cis.

Despite Jax’s attempts to skip the adventure entirely to finding the CisManliest Room In the Circus, his attempts were thwarted. And he was teleported by the nonbinary AI to the lobby with the rest of the circus freaks.

Jax doesn’t like spending time with them, because nobody else relates to him. No one is as cis as him.

Especially not—

“‘Cis’ is a made up word.”

Zooble.

Zooble didn’t believe in pronouns. Or gender. Or words like “cis” or “trans.” Zooble made it clear that people were either male or female and that things like “pronouns” were propoganda perpetuated by BigLanguage to sell more pronouns. It all was a conspiracy.

Jax disagreed. He was cis. It was who he was, who he’s always been. And nothing about that was made up. He was the most cis a person could be.

“I’m cis.” Jax emphasized, just in case Zooble had a bad memory or couldn’t read (both could be true.)

“Pronouns aren’t real.”

“I’m cis.” Jax repeated empathically, because it was the only three words in the English language he knew.

“You’re crazy.”

“I’m cis.” Jax said one final time, before Caine whooshed everyone away onto a very trans adventure.

Which wouldn’t work for Jax at all, because he was cis.

Of course, nobody seemed to care.

Sigh, it was hard to be a cis man.

Which is what Jax is.
