Hi! I love the way you write diluc I have an idea for a angst with comfort where diluc has been thinking of confessing his feelings already or if he should just keep it to himself the reader gets in danger and during that moment diluc is there and ends up confessing while the reader is passing out in his arms, the reader ends up surviving and recovering and how would diluc finally surprise them and take/ask them out afterwards ^^
(I tried explaining the best I could have a good day!!)
AAA thank you for sending in this request! (it's the first one I've gotten) I feel like I rushed the last fic a bit, but I think I did better with this one so I hope you like it! Also I couldn't think of a good title so it'll have to do TnT
Warnings: mentions of injuries, angst with comfort
You and Diluc had been friends since the two of you were children. You were the child of one of the Dawn Wineryâs servants, so naturally you and Diluc were around each other quite often. Diluc was quite extroverted in his youth, so he would often start up conversations with you. Soon enough the two of you had become incredibly close.Â
However after the death of his father and his fight with Kaeya, Diluc has naturally become more reserved and reluctant to be close with others. Despite this, you still stuck by his side, no matter how much he tried to push you away at first. You may not realize it, but Diluc saw your continuous effort and strongly appreciated you for it.Â
Diluc didnât know if it was your determination to stay by his side that made him fall in love with you, or if it was the way you always knew what he needed at that moment. Whether it be words of comfort or just your presence alone, you always knew the best way to comfort him. It mightâve also been the way you smile at him, or your laugh, or the way your eyes soften ever so slightly at the sight of him.
It was safe to say that there were many reasons why Diluc fell in love with you. However now he was caught in a dilemma, whether or not to confess his love to you. He didnât want to make you uncomfortable in any way or ruin the friendship the two of you shared. However his heart ached for you whenever you were away. He longed to be by your side, to take care of you, to be there for your highs and lows in life.Â
You were now a member of the Knights of Favonius, an outrider to be specific. At the moment you were in charge of conducting an attack on a hilichurl camp that had been blocking the road. You were used to this by now, youâve wiped out countless hilichurl camps and were extremely skilled with a bow. However you were slightly nervous due to the size and population of this camp and the fact you were the only one tasked with clearing out the camp.Â
You aimed your bow at one of the explosive barrels next to the camp. You were a safe distance away however there weren't any nearby cliffs or terrain you could use to get onto high ground. You shot an arrow and half of the camp erupted into flames. Unfortunately for you, the hilichurls noticed you off in the distance and charged at you. You were quick to react and shot electro-infused arrows at them, just barely before they could reach you.
Before you could celebrate your victory, a horn blew in the distance and another wave of hilichurls charged in. Turns out you didnât pick your hiding spot well because they also spotted you almost immediately. This time however you didnât have enough time to clear them out before they reached you. A mitachurl swung its axe at you, but you managed to dodge its attack. You shot another electro-infused arrow, but it wasnât enough. The mitachurl swung again, this time striking you in the back. You managed to force yourself to run a good distance away. Aiming your bow, you kill them before they could reach you once more.
You fell to the ground, feeling the blood dripping down your back. A pool of blood started to form beneath you as the pain grew more and more. Panic started to seep in as you tried to focus on what to do. You didnât have any bandages or medical supplies, and Mondstadt was too far away. You were running out of time, the pain was becoming more excruciating by the second and you were losing blood fast. Maybe you could get to Springvale in time? Would you be able to carry yourself that far?Â
You picked yourself up and attempted to carry yourself in the direction of Springvale. However before you couldnât make it more than five steps before you fell once more. This time you didnât hit the ground, instead someone had managed to grab you and help hold you upright. Their grip was firm but gentle on your shoulders.Â
You looked up to see Diluc standing in front of you. His eyes widened with worry though he tried to maintain his composure.
âWhat happened?â He asked, though he quickly was able to piece together what had happened from the hilichurls laying on the ground nearby with arrows struck through them and the bow you held in your hand.Â
âIâm okay, Diluc. I just need toâŚâ you couldnât finish your sentence before your eyes started to flicker and everything around you started to go dark.
âHey! Hey, hold out for me. Just a moment longer,â He picks you up with ease as he leans your body against his for support.Â
âYouâre going to be okay, just hold out a little longer for meâŚâ Everything was spinning around you. You couldnât die like this, not yet. Not when you had so many things you had wanted to do, things you had wanted to say.Â
âI love you,â He was now in tears. He didnât want to lose you, he couldnât. You were the only person left in his life and you had fought to stay by his side. You couldnât leave him like this, not when he had so many regrets.Â
He wanted to say more. He wanted to tell you how dearly he cared for you, how much you truly meant to him. But before he could get the words out, your eyes had closed and everything around you went black.
When you awoke you immediately recognized the interior of the Dawn Winery. The smell of wine filled the air as you rose from the bed you were laying in. You realized that you were in one of the guest rooms by yourself. Glancing down at yourself you noticed the bandages wrapped around you. Your pain had lessened now though it still felt uncomfortable to move.Â
Memories from before you had passed out came back to your mind. You remembered Diluc telling you he loved you. Had you imagined it? There was no way that actually happened right?Â
Just then Adelinde came into the room holding a tray with a glass of water and a plate filled with your favorite food. She was shocked when she saw you sitting upright and awake. She quickly set down the tray next to you and excused herself.
Diluc came into the room barely a moment later. His face was shocked at first but then quickly changed into relief. He came to your side and sat on the chair next to your bed.
âHow are you feeling?â He asked.
âNot too bad,â you replied. âIâm not in nearly as much pain anymore,â
Diluc let out a gentle sigh, âIâm relieved to hear that,â
You considered asking Diluc about what he had said before you passed out. But how do you bring that up? What if that didnât actually happen? You would be utterly embarrassed, and right now that was the last thing you needed.Â
However it seems as if Diluc has read your mind, âPlease, do not think about what I said before. You neednât worry about that right now. You should focus on feeling better,â
So you did remember right! Now you had countless thoughts crossing your mind. Do you tell him you like him back? You had always dreamed of spending a life with him. However you never let yourself dwell on such thoughts for too long, you always believed that your feelings would never be reciprocated.Â
âDid you mean it?â was all you could ask. You had to know if he was being honest, if he truly felt the same way about you as you did him.Â
âYes,â he responds. His voice was gentle and calming, something you had always loved about him. He never raised his voice at you, no matter how frustrated he was. Whenever he spoke to you he was always gentle and caring.Â
You paused for a moment, taking in what he had said. It was true, Diluc Ragnvindr was in love with you. You thought you were dreaming. Was this Heaven?
âI feel the same way,â you finally spoke after a minute. âI love you, Diluc,â
Dilucâs heart felt as if it had skipped a beat, or more like multiple beats. All this time he had worried that his feelings would never be reciprocated, that you would only see him as a friend and nothing more. But here you were, telling him that you felt the same.Â
A comfortable silence fell between the two of you. The both of you were imagining what a life with the other would be like. Waking up alongside each other, spending the days with one another, and finally falling asleep with the other. This was both of your dreams.Â
âIf you would indulge me,â Diluc finally spoke up, âI would love to take you out on a date sometime,â
âI would love nothing more,âÂ
âWell then, please rest for now. We can settle the details once you are feeling better,â he stood up, kissing the back of your hand before walking to the door.Â
âFeel better, my dear. Iâll see you in the morning,âÂ
