zoey decides on one more video, so she flicks her thumb up, and promptly regrets it. rumi helpfully reads the caption out loud before zoey’s brain can catch up. “is zoey from huntr/x gay for her bandmates?” “oh!” zoey breathes, watching with abject horror as the girl on her screen starts to speak and pull up various clips of zoey doing weird things around rumi and mira. objectively weird and really gay things. “no thank you. i'm not.” “what?!” mira whips her around, eyes squinting at the bright light. or maybe out of anger, zoey isn’t too sure. “you're not?” or, if zoey was inside her bandmate, and her other bandmate was inside of her, which way would she move?

There is a lesson to be learned in the dark of night, in the shadows of the trees that shelter it from the light of the moon. There is a lesson, passed down through blood and instinct; knowledge that takes the form of a voice that screams to run. The lesson is this: Gods may do what cattle may not.

GODTIER foolish rumi fic by the author who brought you huge hits like fever and camaraderie (come right on me) and strawberry silhouette (take a bite). wiredbones is absolutely unmatched in writing a rumi who is just an absolute clown of a woman. UGHHHH please read upwards thank you

i really love when fics explore the important and honest conversations between these three post movie-canon, and this one in particular from chapter 4 of on your side wouldn't leave my head until i made uhhh a whole comic about it. so! here you go. rumi is still learning how to accept unconditional love, but zoey and mira are happy to be patient with her.
