“Lucas!”

Jeff and Bubble Monkey look really excited to see the taller blond, Jeff waving and the little monkey doing his best to mirror his movements.

“Jeff! How’re y’ doin’?”

 “I’m doing well, mostly just tinkering with some new devices. I was headed to see Tessie if you’d like to come with!”

 It’s not long, and the rabbit doesn’t seem especially affectionate (even in rabbit terms), but it does smell the disguised alien’s hand with a twitch of its little nose. After, it doesn’t seem to care again and settles itself again in Jeff’s arms.

 “Well, it noticed you this time. That’s a start! 

           But, it could be better.  And such an opportunity to further improve almost seems to conveniently appear when Jeff asks if Giegue himself would like to hold the rabbit.  At that, his gaze automatically shifts back to the life-form in question where he just stares until… a decision is made to just chance it.  Even if this (admittedly) seems like a big leap forward, otherwise being too slow in his approach won’t produce superior results. And in any case, risky action is a key part of learning at times.  Now his gaze flickers towards the precise way in which Jeff is holding the rabbit. There must be a correct way of holding it and if Jeff’s technique is what it should be, then it would be sufficient to mimic that.  ]

—-‘That seems like an acceptable course of action.  But, before I do so, it would be prudent to elaborate on the precise technique required to hold it properly.

He’s pretty sure he’s holding the rabbit correctly, but he’s no professional. He just hopes the rabbit won’t get nervous when he gives it to the alien. 

 “Well, I read in a book that you’re not supposed to hold them by their ears, and that you at least want to hold their back or hindquarters and sort of... cradle them, I suppose.” 

 He thinks a little before looking up at Giegue.

note pass a note to them.

cry wipe away their tears.

wash wipe something off their forehead, cheek, so on.

bandage patch them up when they get hurt.

heal take care of them when they get sick.

book silently read a story with them. 

carry pick them up. 

scrap punch them.

cherry find blood on them.

sit help them sit down.  

medical wake up in the hospital and find them holding their hand.

steer place a hand under their chin to make them look up. 

beat dance with them.

stare stare them down. 

off track get lost with them.

no shaking their head in disagreement. 

yes nodding their head in agreement.

rush tackle them to the ground.

He made sure there were plenty for even his little sister to try, and all of them had the Onett label he put in his big bottle rocket.

Boney’s tail is wagging a mile a minute as he spots the bone in Jeff’s hand.  The second he gets his teeth on the bone, he’s trotting off to some obscure corner of the house to enjoy his treat in peace.  There’s a soft laugh from the twins before focusing their attention back on Jeff.  Lucas’ eyes light up at the sight of the wonderful journals Jeff got him.  He’ll certainly find good use for these!  Lucas throws his arms around Jeff with a bright, cheery, “Thank you!”

Of course,Claus’ present from Jeff is just the kind of thing he should expect from his friend.  It’s silly, but very practical in some ways, and he loves it.  He also appreciates the kiss, though it still always catches him off-guard whenever it happens.  Claus lightly touches the spot on his cheek before grinning at the blond.  He presses a kiss to Jeff’s forehead and then says, “Thanks.  For everythin’.  I appreciate it.”

Mismatched eyes blinked slowly. Hints of confusion crossed the chimera’s face as his head tilted slightly. Christmas…Christmas… Oh, was that the name of the event his master had been holding? He vaguely recalled something about gifts as he’d been leaving the crowded hall. Was this day meant for giving gifts? 

Silently, the commander took the little robotic mouse into his hands, and once he did his eyes widened in awe. He watched it move, squeak, and curl up comfortably in his gloved hands. It was rare for the Commander to show any form of emotion, but if one had to describe the look on the chimera’s face, it would have to be like that of a child’s on Christmas Day. He was astonished by the little creature, left stunned as he looked it over before carefully moving it to one hand to gently pet its head with the other hand. 

“It’s a mouse…” 

He said softly, turning his gaze upwards to look at the blond. 

“….I will…keep it safe. Thank you, Jeff.” 

What now? There was something else he had to do, right? When receiving gifts, one had to show gratitude. That was something he’d learned last time. So… 

After putting the napping mechanical mouse into the pocket of his jacket, he wrapped his arms around the blond. It was stiff, strange, mostly since the Commander was still not the best at ‘affection’. But…there was something genuine behind it, and he’d initiated it without being prompted. 

“Thank you….”
